Chapter 20 – The Royal Mage

“You’ll remember once you join Fe Chan Ji in the grave.” She screamed tightening her grip on the dagger before adhering to plant the sharp blade into him.

But just before the fatal coincidence could happen, Alistar who watched the fight with absolutely boredom ever since gave a scratch of his cute but sharp claws into her back, interrupting the fight.

“You small, annoying, ugly creature.” Mia jumped off from Ghou, turning to the cute little animal that curled itself calmly on the ground.

Ghou frowned hearing the abusive words of Mia that sprayed no emotion into Alistar who still curled up himself until the talking lad eventually fell unto the ground unconscious. “Eh.. What happened.”

“First you’re suppose to thank me for saving your lazy limbs but either way, the claw attack from a creature such as me is very complicated and makes the victim fall asleep for at least, a couple of days.”

Ghou felt speechless as he listened to the words of Alistar who remained calm all through the event “How would you do something like…”

“Just thank me for saving your life, instead of complaining stupidly.” Alistar jumped from the ground, raising itself up until it was the same height as Ghou

“You really are a wild monster, and you’ll always remain one. But thank you for saving my life.”

“Apology accepted. Now act matured for once and find that empress.”

Ghou’s first suspicion on Kiara’s where about was her chambers. With some minutes of relentless running he finally met himself in front of the closed door of the room.

Instantly pushing it open, Ghou gaze fell upon Kiara and a fairly handsome man, maybe in his early twenties who waved his golden tinted hands around her neck, slowly healing the casualties that gave that feeling of warmth into her brain.

“Oh, I managed to knock her out.” Ghou dazed at the man as he muttered his words that came out almost inaudible.

This man is so hot!

Ghou couldn’t help but drool at the man even though he wasn’t a homo$exual, who paid no attention towards him as his mind deeply concentrated on the injury that gradually began to heal. The man whose royal robe fell until it touched the ground made it clear that he had the title of the royal mage especially with the presence of his magic.

“He’s foreign.” Kiara who noticed Ghou’s condition said with a smile that jerked him out of his thoughts “His name is Elbert.”

“Oh, no wonder, the hairstyle really pushed me aback.” Ghou laughed in embarrassment hearing the brief explanation from Kiara. But even with the explanation, he still drooled at the combed side fringe hairstyle that nicely attuned to his heart shaped face.

“Don’t be a slum, where is the girl.” Elbert immediately rose up from the bed after some minutes of healing Kiara who fell to the bed exhausted from the activity and the magic.

“In the guest room, and she won’t her awake for now…”

“Till when?” Elbert walked out of the room, pacing arrogantly towards the Palace guest room section. Within a matter of minutes, he arrived in front of  a expensive door that was wide open for Elbert to see through.

“Did you even realize if I was behind you.” Ghou stood vogue beside Elbert whose facial expression instantly frowned seeing Mia who laid unconsciously on the ground with a claw mark noticeably drawn on her back “This thing of yours did this, right?”

“Don’t call him a thing.” Ghou for the very first time defended Alistar who curled lazily around his waist, “His name is Alistar.”

“Pathetic! Now how exactly am I going to examine her.”

“You’re a mage, a royal mage. You have to be specialized in all knowledge involved in magic, you should have an ability that should help her wake up.”

“It’s a spell, not ability. And spells involves components, or even rituals.” Elbert retorted storming into the room before lifting Mia onto his shoulders, “Silently follow me to my quarters. And I repeat, silently.”

After many minutes of walking through endless corridors and climbing multiple staircase, Elbert and the silent lad arrived in front of a large door that was partially opened, revealing a glimpse of the glowing ‘Tomato light’.

“Talk only with my permission.” Elbert eyed Ghou before pushing the door open, to the amazement of Ghou who found himself standing before a room of enchanted potions, books and weapons.

“Wow.” Ghou muffled in amazement as he dazed at the room that gave out a mind blowing aura.

“I said only talk with my permission.” Ghou turned his gaze towards Elbert who sat on top of a table, calming a large python that seem to be in its aggressive state, “You’re lucky I’m nice enough to rescue you from him, else you’ll be in his stomach right now.”

A laugh escaped Ghou’s lips hearing the words of Elbert who got puzzled, “I’ll roast it with the flinch of my fingers.”

“Unfortunately, this thing here is magic resistant.” He patted the creature that gradually calmed down some minutes later before falling into a temporary sleep.

Within some seconds, Elbert continued and said, “Anyways, could you gather all the cyan colored potions for me.”

“What do you mean by Cyan?”

“Heavens!” Elbert could not do anything but exclaim to Ghou’s silly question. Meanwhile Ghou gazed innocently at him, still ignorant of what he meant.

“Are you trying to behave silly?”

“Why would I? And by the way, I’m serious, what do you mean by cyan.”

Elbert jumped down from the table after being convinced that Ghou wasn’t trying and mess with him and actually being serious, “Hum, I mean a greenish blue color.”

“Then why were you being so confusing, I bet that word don’t exist.”

Elbert jaw dropped completely to the floor after hearing Ghou who unknowingly embarrassed himself.

“Just ignore that, and gather them.”

Ghou immediately ran towards a tall wooden shelf that solemnly accommodated over a hundred of different potions that all had effects tags glued to their bottle. It didn’t take long and Ghou instantly went to work, slowing examining and picking the supposed color description.

“Heaven’s flame! I see no importance for this one, especially when it goes with Brand pepper as a name.” Ghou laughed in response to a glistering potion that weirdly featured the color description, “It’s supposed to be red or something since it has a pepper in its name.”

Elbert laughed to Ghou’s words as he struggled frantically amongst his dozens of spell book to find the suitable element to awaken Mia.

“This isn’t your profession…. What may I call you?”

“Ghou Fe Ling, that’s my full name.”

“Ghou Fe Ling, this isn’t your profession, so just bring all the required potions there.”

Ghou ignored his words and continued fetching out all the cyan potions until there was none left. “I’m done. Now can you tell me something, I’ve heard of alchemy a lot and….”

“Could you get out, please.” Elbert rudely interrupted Ghou’s words as he seemed really focused on whatever he was trying to do. However after a minute of silence from Ghou without leaving, he turned to him, immediately repeating his words, alongside the python that abruptly jumped up from his sleep while hissing harshly to Ghou who instantly felt intimidated, “His name is Jones, and he could be abusive with intruders. Now you may excuse me.”

“Okay, you don’t need to call your pet on me.”

Feeling a bit embarrassed Ghou stormed out of the room and proceeded for his guest room, after all it was almost midnight and he needed enough sleep to reach the next day.

Suddenly Alistar who still curled himself around Ghou’s waist puked his head out, looking directly to Ghou’s face, “I told you, only normal people will name their pets, didn’t you admire that cute name?”
