Chapter 21 – When The Vessel Spring

“Were you blind, that man is absolutely dumb.” Ghou landed his butt to the soft and comfy bed of the guest room after ignoring Alistar’s questions until he finally arrived in the room.

“If he’s said to be dumb, then you’re clearly dumber. Remember, you turned dumb when he mention a simple word such as cyan.”

Ghou’s eyes fell towards the lazy creature that ignorantly tied to his waist, “You know I could strangle you to death..”

“Be careful with your words alright, I won’t be this calm when you say something like this ever again.” Alistar’s voice instantly turned cold, saying all the words which sent shivers down Ghou’s spine.

“I won’t exchange words with you now.” Ghou tried to contain his sudden fear to the creature around his waist, “Goodnight.”

The next day was rather less peaceful like Ghou had imagined in his dreams with the information of over dozens of people who gathered around the castle with intent to harm.

Ghou however, sat helplessly in his room after receiving the information from a seemingly scared guard as his voice shivered violently with every words, “I think the empire is less peaceful nowadays.”

He sounded like a three years old child crying for a lollipop as he’d had the expectations of leaving the Palace to meet Xia which now turned a failure with the news of the protest. Not long after, a loud bang landed on the door, forcing him to open the door without further trouble.

“You should be outside the Palace and assist the guards with those crowd.” Elbert voice sounded rude as he eyed Ghou with every word he made. Without waiting for a response, he quickly left the scene leaving Ghou to stare in reluctance at the fine door that was opposite his room.

“Why is the empire this rude and heartless, I’m being physically stressed.”

“Don’t be a lazy thing, Ghou. You should assist the other guards in blocking off the crowd.”

Ghou couldn’t complain after Alistar’s words, especially when it was related to something that significant. After walking few meters from the room, he arrived in front of the Palace door which was widely open for the viewing of the crowd who fought the guards harshly in an attempt to escape their grip.

“Heaven’s flame.” Ghou and Alistar shouted simultaneously in sight of the crowd who were either throwing rotten eggs or ball of mud at the guards.

After dazing at the scenario for almost two minutes, Alistar managed to mutter a word, “It’ll only be a matter of time before they begin to use their ability.”

Without replying to Alistar’s words, Ghou immediately ran towards the guards and immediately began to push off as many people as his hands got to. However after some more minutes of the repeated situation, one of the men who tried to pass through the crowd pointed out to Ghou with a loud shriek.

“That monster.”

Simultaneously, the others began to rain curses at Ghou who had goosebumps as he stared at the crowd with a confused face.

“Why are they on me!” Ghou could not help but curse at the crowd who suddenly increased their stamina on the guards. Just when he was about to make a move on a young lady who tried to cross his path, he felt a soft palm on his shoulder before falling into a state that almost felt like an abyss.

“Where am I.” Ghou was sent dumbfounded, seeing himself in a white tinted room which seemed to go from miles to miles.

“Where I’ve been after my death.” A voice rippled behind Ghou which made him to turn around only for his gaze to fall upon Funji who had a bittersweet smile on his face, “Almost like a lonely hell, but it would be more fun with you here.”

Ghou stood speechless unable to process all the words from Funji especially as he was noted as dead. Thick sweat began to form on his forehead as well as his back which already soaked.

“Am I dead.” Ghou couldn’t help but cry inwardly hearing all the words from Funji which sounded creepy since he vividly described the place as a lonely hell for the dead.

“Maybe, how would I know if you just came. After all you aren’t the first to be here without being dead.”

“Why are you answering me a question I didn’t ask.” Ghou began to shout like a psycho, mostly began to his tension that raised with every ticking seconds.

“You don’t think here Ghou, your thoughts will be heard as plain words.”

“That’s sick… but I know I’m not dead, that’s impossible.”

“Would you like to know, there a guardian here who is in charge of your fate. Overall he could tell you why you’re here.”

Ghou immediately began to ponder on Funji’s words. However it sound satisfying since it gave hopes of his chance of living.

“Hahh.. Who might this guardian be, we should meet him immediately.”

“Don’t have too many expectations Ghou, it could also frustrate you.” Funji laughed for a couple of minutes before giving a final answer, “But, it’ll take a lot of time before we get to his Ender which is couple of miles away.”

“Whatever, we need to start the journey immediately.”

Ghou was the first to leave a step with his anxiety which grew stronger with every second.

“But wait, I think another person is coming.” Funji interrupted with a smile that unknowingly left Ghou’s heart to pound as fast as every seconds that passed, or even faster.

It didn’t take a minute and a glowing feminine figure appeared beside Ghou, slowly cooling down until it revealed the appearance as Kiara, none other than Empress Mihou.

“Oh..” Funji expression immediately changed after seeing Kiara who now stood speechless without any movement, almost like she was numb.

“I think I understand why both of you are here.”

Kiara began to mutter about a minute later since she felt dumbfounded with the scenery, “What’s this.”

Meanwhile Funji instantly began to walk away from the two while making his way to the ender.

“Ghou! What’s this, are we dead.”

“Just follow him if you want to live.” Ghou and Kiara without another word ran to Funji who ignored them like they weren’t even there.
