Chapter 19 – Sleeping Mia Ling

The sunset easily came by and Cheng alongside the others arrived at the castle that was now flooding with guards as it was the suspicious time of the hour.

Kiara immediately ran to the guards who stood in front of the entrance as soon as she was informed about it.

“Why the sudden return.” She asked vividly stunned as they were all looking untouched, apart from few injuries.

“For a whole lots of reasons.” Ying was the first to step out of the crew as she exposed the girl’s body to Kiara who looked utterly speechless

“And Ghou is missing.” Cheng added into Ying’s words relaxing his palm unto his thighs as he was already getting exhausted.

“Oh… Ghou is actually in the guest room, but this...”

“Wait… What?, so we were abandoned.” Ying shouted, interrupting Kiara’s words like she’d lost a nut, her eyes revealed true anger as her urge to walk to wherever he was and land a slap on his cheeks continuously rose “We thought he was lost in the woods.”

“But yeah, that’s insane. He would had just said he wasn’t interested in the hunt rather than putting us in high pressure.” A guard retorted in anger, standing beside Ying who gave him a death glare

Just then, Ghou revealed himself from the door, with a stash of bandages tied to his legs

“Ghou, what’s this.” Cheng asked in a discomforting tone with the sight of his condition that gave everyone a fright

“I thought you guys were going to kill me.” Ghou laughed at the looks that plastered the face of everyone, especially Ying and the man who stood beside her

“I was attacked by a Drake, I definitely couldn’t kill with my weapons lost, but I got these injuries. It was bandaged by a peasant man when I was returning to the Palace.” Ghou finally caught sight of the person who lied unconsciously on the food cart “Is that a man?”

He rushed with an awkward movement toward the cart as the Placid snake that had been camouflaged on his waist uncoiled. Getting to the cart he peeked at the face of the person to only to meet a girl.

But she was no ordinary girl, she was Mia Ling, his long time secret crush.

“Oh, did you kidnap her.”

“No she was found unconscious in the forest.” Ying answered with her gaze fixed to the creature that now stood on top of Ghou’s head.

“She Mia Ling, we knew each other from mage school.”

“Anyways, we’ll just keep her in one of the guest room and then return to check her tomorrow.” Cheng concluded, raising Mia from the cart onto his shoulders

“You can’t go home, what about the monsters from the border.” Kiara interrupted the crew who fell speechless for some seconds

“I can’t go since I’m injured, and that’s the main reason why I’m spending the night in the Palace.” Ghou immediately began to hurry into the Palace as he was no longer interested in joining the hunt.

“You know, it’s really risky keeping you here.”

Ghou laid in exhaustion on top of the comfy bed that was provided for him in the room. Meanwhile, the Placid snake crawled lazily behind Ghou’s head before curling itself into a round shape

“Shush!, anyone could hear you. But I brought that idea of me having a name.”

“That’s rubbish, who would give name to a pet.”

“Are you insane.” The Placid immediately sprang up from the bed as it climbed on top of Ghou’s chest “Only the normal once will name a pet.”

“Well, I’m not doing that. You aren’t even a real pet.” Ghou complained pushing the creature away from his chest as he sat upright

“Then I’m going to decide, my name is Alistar, I’ve always admire that name.”

Just then a loud crash was heard vividly from one of the guests room, forcing Ghou to jump off his bed alongside Alistar who looked reluctant.

The angry voice of Mia was the first sound that crashed into Ghou’s ears as soon as the door swung open “Don’t even dare to move a muscle, else you’ll risk her life.”

Ghou stood speechless in front of Mia who strongly held Kiara on her neck while pointing a nearly familiar dagger to her neck, “Mia Ling, don’t do this.”

Even when he tried to convince her into letting go of Kiara, his gaze still didn’t leave the dagger.

“Just remain calm, she isn’t evil.” Ghou slowly began to advance towards Mia who looked hesitant to make a move. But just with the blink of an eye, her small combatant dagger gave a slight slit that left a puddle of blood to gush out before she was flung to the opposite side of the room.

Without a care in the world, she dashed towards Ghou who was already tensed up. But just when the small dagger was about to collide into his chest, he subconsciously dodged to the opposite side leaving her to bang into the polished wooden door.

“Kiara, go find help, else you’ll die of bleeding.” Ghou called leading Kiara whose hands was already covered in a puddle of blood out of the room.

“I’ll just finish her off once I’m done with you.” The killing intent from Mia drastically changed seeing Kiara who ran without hesitation to find help. Very soon, the whole room slowly began to transform into a lake of flames which left Ghou to stare out of shock to the extent of forgetting he was in the middle of a fight.

Without wasting much time, she ran recklessly to the confused man and pushed him to the ground before raising the dagger into the air, ready to do what she thought necessary.

“Mia, what’s that?” Ghou who finally remembered where he’d seen that dagger asked with an almost hoarse voice since it was similar to the dagger Pengfei had tried to murder him with. After all, he now noticed the purple tint that surrounded her once blue eyes.

“You’ll remember once you join Fe Chan Ji in the grave.” She screamed tightening her grip on the dagger before adhering to plant the sharp blade into him.
