Chapter 6 – Empire wall guard
Kiara stood up from the chair and began to walk to and fro in the room, Ghou watched her quietly thinking hard of the request. Kiara finally stopped walking and rested her hand on the jewelry table of her room staring into the clean mirror which hanged on the wall
“And you should know that you are not going alone, I sent for three more powerful people I met in the war and I am expecting them any time soon.”
“Wait, did you just mention powerful people, w-wait did you ever had a match with me to know if I’m powerful or not.” Ghou Ling asked with a grin
“Soo, are you going to work as a guard, I already made uniforms and special weapons.”
Hearing the word ‘weapon’ from Kiara reminded Ghou of the artefact that was supposed to be given to him from his parents
“Yes, I would fulfil your request but, umm, I wanted to ask if you have any artefact with you.”
“What artefact is that, cause my under-croft is totally empty.” Kiara chuckled, she turned around and walked toward one of the armchair
“I actually don’t-” Ghou got interrupted from the loud knocking on the door, he immediately stood up while Kiara ran toward the door and opened it.
Tap! Tap!
The loud footsteps of the three people who stepped into the room echoed, their was a female and two male. One of the man, who was about 5’9 foot from the ground having a lean body figure and a black short and unarranged hair, he was wearing a purple long combat trouser and a large zipped jacket fitted with a pair of well polished purple sandals. This man was Cheng Rough, a popular pickpocket in the empire who had survived by this miserable profession.
The other two colleagues were less familiar but look properly dressed and coordinated
“Ah, you are welcome.” Kiara greeted the three walker-in who responded with a bow. Ghou’s brows rose in curiosity noticing that she allowed people to walk into her chambers just like that
“Ghou, these are my other three guards, Ying Ling Jaiyi, Silas Ling Lio and my favorite Cheng Ling Rough.” Kiara stared at Ghou with a wide smile. Ghou’s face twitched hearing a ‘Ling’ in Cheng’s name, he walked closer toward Kiara and whispered into her ears
“Why would bring a pickpocket into this.”
“I didn’t consider personalities Ghou, it capabilities and heart.” Kiara whispered back into the ears of Ghou with her brows Knitted.
Ghou heaved a sigh and stepped closer to the three who stared at him with blank faces
“Umm, I’m Ghou Fe Ling and em, I hope it will be a favor working alongside with you three.” Ghou’s voice sounded nervous with every word that erupted from his mouth, he immediately backed away from them toward the armchair.
“Ah-em, Ghou, Ying, Silas and Cheng, my heart is very gladdened for your compassion for this empire and deciding to fight for it. As I formerly explained, outside the wall is chaos and if proper care is not taken they may break into the wall and, well I think you all know what will happen.” Kiara explained with a loud and firm clear voice, her facial expression was truly gladdened as she made her speech
“So, I gathered the four of you here for a special request which you all were called for and thankfully your thank will be ten gold coin each. My royal tailor also made a special uniform for you all to stand your way out of the crowd.”
Ghou and the other three nodded in agreement as Kiara said all her words. Ghou’s face plastered with a smile upon hearing the pay amount, this was like a huge amount of money that could sustain his for a year if well managed, the announcement of the coin already caught all his interest and nothing could stop him from gaining this offer now.
Kiara slowly walked to a small desk beside her bed and picked up a bundle of folded clothes. She rushed again toward her four newly employed guards and handed over to them their various uniform
“Cool, we have a crest eh.” Ying who had already unfold her uniform stared in amazement, while her thin and breathy voice continuously muttered a ‘Wow’
“Yeah, the crest stands you out of the audience.” Kiara smiled staring at them who all had smiling faces
“Oh and one more thing, four of you will be guarding the four corners of the wall, Ghou, you and some guards will protect the Southern wall, Ying you are for the Northern, Cheng, Eastern and Silas your post is for the Western part, make sure you all come here in next daybreak.” Kiara explained and sat on the armchair, she rested her elbow on the table and settled her jaw on her palm.
“Noted, Empress Kiara Mihou Ling.” Ghou and the other greeted with a bow and immediately exited the room
.....
“Hum, Southern wall post.” Ghou sat on his couch gazing at the ceiling of the room.
How could she order me to the southern wall, with all those oblivious sea creatures, so irritating!
Ghou’s body shivered in irritation thinking about how he was going to fight a sea animal with his fire. The back of the wall was a great ocean of water which were home to sea creatures almost considered as the most powerful of all creatures, and by the way, these were sea animal and his fire ability practically would not do any harm to them.
Ghou Ling immediately sat upright and tilted his head toward the folded uniform which laid peacefully on the left side of the couch
“Would this cloth even fit.” Ghou’s voice was dull as he muttered out the words, he immediately picked it up and rushed to his bedroom
....
Ghou stared at himself through the old and cracked mirror, the uniform which consisted of a body fit coat and trouser was a dark purple in color having stripes of gold, on the left chest of the coat was an embroidery of a golden shield designed with a letter ‘P’ imprinted on it. Unfortunately the empress didn’t offer a shoe so he wore one of his local under knee black boot.
“Hum, it’s alright.” He muttered turning sideways admiring the uniform, he began to ruffle his hair to fit the attire while smiling continuously like his life depended on it.
Chapter 7 – Assigned The next Dawn came along easily, Ghou jumped off his bed and freshened up. After a long time, Ghou was fully dressed up with the uniform and ready to leave, he immediately stepped out of the house with his hairs packed upward and instantly closed the door.....“Ah, Ghou always the first to arrive.” Kiara praised sipping a cup of tea while sitting on her majestic bed, staring at Ghou who sat on an armchair with a smiling face“Hehe, it’s actually isn’t my-” Knock! Knock! A loud knock interrupted Ghou and the next thing was the door pushed open allowing Cheng, Ying and Silas to enter the room.“How do you guys always walk in together.” Ghou brows knitted upon seeing the three of them, this was two times that something similar to this happened and it looked all suspicious“What if the three of us are neighbors.” Cheng instantly replied with narrow eyes“Well, when last I checked you lived in the streets pickpocketing for a living.” Ghou retorted eyeing C
Chapter 8 – Beasts and monsters Ghou immediately turned his head backward to see a large gray shark which was diving vastly toward him“Heaven’s flame.” Ghou muttered and instantly jumped to the opposite direction successfully dodging the attack of the shark which had its rough spiky teeth to the ground. The shark began to flap it claw-like tails realizing that it was stuck.“Ahh, my goodness.” Ghou instantly stood up from the ground and ran to the other guards who were shivering at the sight. “That’s a diseased shark right.” The guards tilted their head toward Ghou and nodded, the shark violently began to twine it head from the ground and successfully removed it therefore landing on the ground creating a loud thud, it body began to jump up and down on the sand to the water where it zoomed off“Oh, okay then, I’ll just stand here and wait.”“I do not think there is any time to wait, look.” One of the guards pointed toward the sea were an army of strange alligators swam vastly
Chapter 9 – Death and Vessel Silas turned his head back to the bear which was running in a fast pace toward him, he lifted his hand to the air realizing that the bear was too close for him to attack. The bear instantly lifted into the air making it impossible for it to advance any further. Silas pressed him palm into a ball while the bear movable joints bent into strange positions with loud cracking sound, he stood up from the ground with his hand still fixed in the air while making a direct eye contact with the bear. Silas instantly spread out his hand like he was calling for a hug while the bear widened it body with a loud roar.Silas brows fuzzed with narrow eyes, he raised his hand further into the air and with a sudden movement began to swing it from the left to right. Meanwhile, the bear began to bang recklessly on the sand which sudden got red of blood. He heaved a sigh of relief and finally released his hand leaving the bear to crash on the ground. Silas who wa
Chapter 10 – Discovery “No, look behind you.” Xia, who reluctantly looked behind was instantly stunned to see Peng standing on the ground with a face plastered with confusion “Bro….. Brother Peng.” Xia jumped on her feet as she ran to Pengfei pulling him into an embrace “I thought I’d lost you.” Xia’s voice shivered as she tried to stop herself from crying “No….. No, I… I will never leave you.” Pengfei voice was completely blur as he tried to understand the paranormal activity that happened “Ghou?, what… what’s this, why am I here.” He instantly pulled out of the embrace and sat on the damaged chair of the room trying to recall what had happened before his death, especially how and why he could find himself in Ghou’s home “Ehn.. Emm… you and Xia came to my doorstep pleading for my forgiveness…..” “Forgiveness, for what.” Pengfei jumped up from the chair with a facing drowned in awe “Pleading?, why were we pleading.” “Ehn, but

Chapter 12 : Monster Manual : Aboleth“You could start now.” Kiara repeated her words with a bright smile that compelled the others to rise on their feet “We definitely can’t say no, so it’s is yes.” Cheng blundered with a sharp smile. Silas on the other hand turned to Cheng with a death glare as it wasn’t in his interest to join the hunt, but he was a sheep bent to oblige to all their words since he was too embarrassed of his voice to muster a word. After all, if things were to get out of hands, he had the simplest solution by abandoning the project “Okay, good. I think we’ll start with the Aboleth today and continue with the others tomorrow. And please note that your ability is no stranger to the illusion, so it’ll cause harm to the children meanwhile the creatures can’t hurt you.” Kiara briefly explained already making her way to the wide opened door of the room. ----“So it all going to begin here.” Kiara invited the group into a huge dark hall which held different small
Chapter 13 – Monster Manual : Trogen“Ghou, time for you to demonstrate what you’ve got.” Ghou stood alone in the room as he patiently waited for the transformation of the room“I’m waiting,” Ghou shouted out to the room as the transformation seemed to be taking longer than the others. After waiting for what seemed to be five minutes, the room glitched into the sunny forest before it immediately transformed into a dark room.“I think they are Mana exhausted, you know, it isn’t easy creating these realistic illusions.” Kiara interrupted the fading silence of the room as she watched the room glitch continuously. “Anyways, I think this will be all for now, tomorrow will be another day.”“I didn’t even fight the monster.” Ghou said with a frown still staring at the pillar-filled room“Well, it is not my fault. The others are already gone.”“What about the book, the one from my… deceased parents.” Ghou reminded Kiara who ran out of the hall, into the throne room where she picked the
Chapter 14 – Maybe A Drop Of Blood After some hours, the teams were finally done crazing with the Trogen that was a Challenge for Ying, and lot more easier for Silas who blood-bent the creature until death. The huge door of hall finally closed as the illusionists who were mana exhausted came with a conclusion to put a stop to the daily training with the illusions.“Wait…. But why, don’t I pay you enough.” Kiara cursed at the four men who stared quietly to the ground, without a response to her words “Don’t keep me quite.”“We’re sorry empress Mihou, but we are going to slump dead to the ground one day if we are to continue with the illusion.” One of the men bravely answered, staring face to face at Kiara whose face revealed pure anger “And…. And, we’re always mana exhausted after a single fight with one of them.” The man pointed out to Ghou and the other three who stood vogue behind Kiara with a blank face “Yet, we go beyond our limits, just for them.”“Well… But
