Chapter 3: Collecting Information as a Baby

Almost one year after Park Jae Sung reincarnation as Adrian, he had work hard to get information about his new life. He now knows he is the first born of Malcom and Amanda of the Cross Family.

He estimated that he is in a western medieval era. In the records of his past life, he knows medieval eras stinks. Literally. Hygiene in the medieval era is not developed but he could not be more wrong. 

In this world, humans can utilize mana to manifest magic. He saw his father’s trusted butler, Ralph uses wind magic to blow the leaves away during autumn and fire magic to light up the fire place during winter. His mother also uses water magic to bathe him.

Seeing magic, open up many possibilities for Adrian in the future. He could not wait to learn magic.

Speaking of winter, I heard from father the Queen gave birth to twins as the first royal heir. One is a boy the other is a girl. More information came from the gossiping maids, tells him the king had only ascend the throne and marry the queen 3 years ago.

His wed his second wife last year to tie the knot with a noble from Dawn Kingdom. The marriage was blessed by the queen because the second wife has a close relationship with the queen.

“Being a king that just ascend must be hard. The royals had twins in the same year that I was born must be fate.” Adrian nodded silently understanding the responsibility of a king and keep this information he received as a card in his sleeve. Baby onesie sleeves.

After taking care of Adrian baby self for almost 1 year, he plans to reward his parents. In one afternoon, Amanda just finished feeding Adrian. Malcom usually comes a little later to see his wife and son then get lunch with his wife. Adrian saw his father just walk in to the room and started mumbling baby noises.

“Did you finish feeding Adrian? He seems happy and energetic.” Malcom wore a big smile seeing his wife and son together.

“Yes. Looks like he is satisfied and he did not look like he need a nap this afternoon.” Amanda said

Adrian in his mother’s arms, reach out his tiny arms and poke his mother’s cheek and said “mama” then continue mumbling baby noises. He needs to act as a dumb 1 year old baby to not raise suspicions.

The couple expression brightly lit up and smiling from ear to ear hearing what their son first word.

“Adrian, come on say ‘mama’ again. Maaa… maaa…” Amanda asked kindly.

“Adrian, say ‘dada’ too. I did not do any funny faces anymore right” Malcom said with almost like a begging tone. He does not want to lose just because he spent little time with his son every day.

Seeing her husband like this she hands Adrian over too her husband. Adrian did not like to be held by his father because he not soft and his scruffy beard is prickly but he remember that he is almost 1 years old he needs to thank his parents so he let it be.

To express his dislike of being held by his father, he grabs his father’s cheek and ear then pull hard and say “dada” while laughing.

“Hahaha… did you hear that Amanda, he said ‘daddy’. Adrian who is still not a year old yet said his first word.” Malcom said enthusiastically.

When Amanda heard this a vein on her forehead pop out. She wants to keep her pride as a mother.

 “I clearly hear ‘mama’ is his first word.” She retorts Malcom statement.

“Darling, we should agree to disagree your remark about his first word.” Amanda’s words start to mark a dark closure to my first year.

At 2 years old, he now had learned how to walk although clumsy and slow but he still manages to navigate through the halls of the mansion with a maid watching close by of course.

After a long walk he manage to find the library. Luckily there is a sign on the door that looks like the word ‘Library’.

With the maid’s help to push the door, he went inside. The thick smell of parchment strikes his tiny cute nose.

Inside the library, he saw a man with white hair accompany with a masculine beard. Although he looks old but truth be told he only in his 40s. It is Ralph, who is sorting some documents for the count.

“Oh my, I was not expecting young master to stop by the house library.” A surprise expression shown on Ralph’s face seeing a 2-year-old walking clumsily inside the library.

Knowing Adrian still can’t talk properly, he diverts his attention to the maid that is accompanying Adrian walking.

“I’m sorry Sir Ralph, I was just accompanying him walking through the halls but he suddenly stops here and tried to push the door. Since he wants to enter the library, I helped him open the door.” The maid replied with a nervous tone.

“Wait, you said he wanted to enter here?” Ralph asks while raising an eyebrow.

“Yes” the maid replies.

“Did someone tell him where the library is?” Ralph started to wonder if it is all a coincidence.

“Not that I know of. Madam just order me to accompany him walking just in the halls while she takes care of some business.” The maid stated her mission by Amanda.

“I see” Ralph strokes the tip of his beard while thinking he should test the young master. Is it truly a coincidence or not. He approaches Adrian and lift him up.

‘’Young master you must be tired from walking practice, come have a seat.” Ralph put Adrian on a comfortable chair. He told the maid to watch over Adrian while he go look for a table of suitable height for Adrian.

He came back with a nice simple table for 1 person but it’s still not Adrian’s height. Adrian thought that it is fine. They can fine some books to stack for him to sit. What happens next is not within Adrian or the maid expectations.

“Windblade” After Ralph chant his magic, strong winds condensing in a form of a crescent moon cut off a perfect length of table’s legs cleanly and swiftly.

The maid watching is not surprise with Ralph magic but Adrian’s eyes are already shining like stars.

“Alph majik… Alph majik” Adrian pleading Ralph to teach him magic.

“Yes, young master that is magic. If you want to learn, you need to be 10 years old to awaken mana. It is still too soon for you right now but let me teach you the alphabet and writing first. If you did well, I will tell you some stories.”

Hearing that he cannot use magic yet he was so depressed. Still, he doesn’t rush. He is only 2 years old being able to walk and communicate at the age of 2 is still amazing.

He then looked at Ralph and nodded his head so that he can learn. He won’t lose anything anyway.

Ralph took out some parchment, an ink vail and a quill for Adrian. He then teaches Adrian how to write and how to pronounce each alphabet from A to Z.

Adrian already knows that this language has many similarities to English in his past life, the only difference is the alphabet have some extra dots and lines.

Adrian finish memorizing the alphabet new structure in 1 hour. He turns to Ralph to ask for a new parchment. He then showed him what he had learn.

“A, B, C…” Adrian continues writing until ‘Z’. Although the writing is not good but it is still understandable.

After Adrian finish, the maid and Ralph look at each other with shocked expressions.

“I need to report this to the lord/madam about this” Both of them think of the same thing.
