"Get out of my office right now!" Jackson didn't take it lying with Isaac and his son.
"Who do you think you are to speak to my father in such a way?" Nicholas was quick to push Jackson backward."I'm not going to repeat myself. I said, get out of my office!" Jackson pressed the emergency bell and a few seconds later guards came rushing in."You might have escaped this now, but I promise you won't escape for long!" Isaac slammed at him and stormed out.Jackson sat down on his chair to pack up his files. It was almost time for the board meeting and he planned to present the reports he had gathered.Isaac Moore had misappropriated a total of one million dollars of funds!30 mins later, the meeting began with Xander more quiet than usual. This time, Mr Ernestine was the one that took the floor. "Like we spoke the last time, we tried to consider the proposal of increment of the prices of our products. My Ryder here was one of the persons that spoke against it. Can we have him take the floor?""Of course. Good day, gentlemen. We'll begin with reasons why prices of products must not be increased." Jackson took over the projector."Here, it states that out of the five hundred thousand dollars allocated to the Wil&Ryder Factories every month. Only 70% is used to produce the final products. The remaining 30% is totally unaccounted for."Gasps of shock went up the hall."Now, if we take this 30% and invest it back into the capital, there would even be avenue to reduce our prices and still produce quality products!"Xander's face blanched considerably. "How can we be so sure you aren't bluffing?""Well, permit me to call in a witness from the Factory itself." Jackson waved his hands and a tall man stepped in.He expected some form of resistance from Xander and prepared ahead."Hello everyone, I'm Stephen, the current assistant Financial secretary at the Factory and I was summoned here by the General Manager.""Right." Jackson nodded. "Do you agree that the factory is always allocated a sum of five hundred thousand dollars per month for production?""Yes sir.""Out of this money, roughly how much is spent on the real production itself?""About 65 to 70%." Stephen replied."Then what happens to the rest of the money?"Stephen faltered for a moment before replying. "Er, the Manager of the Factory collects it in cash and uses it for personal issues.""What?" a gray haired man, Mr Keith, slammed the table angrily. "Summon in the Manager of the Factory right away! How dare he use company money for personal use?""Unfortunately, there was no way he could have done that without the knowledge of some of us here." Jackson glanced around, catching guilty expressions on a few men."What are you trying to say?" Ernestine frowned."While auditing the accounts, I found that none of this misappropriation had been noticed at the headquarters even when it was brought before the board members.""You mean to say some of us knew about the deceit but covered him up?""Here," Jackson flipped through some portions on the screen. "For the past 5 years, the Factory Manager has been bribing some board members, including the accountant in charge of the presentation.""That's enough!" A man suddenly slammed the table hard. "Enough with the slanderous lies unless you have enough proof to back it up!""What other proof so you need apart from the one on the screen, Mr Holton?""We all know evidences like this are usually fabricated! He did this himself without a credible accountant, how can we trust a random person?" Holton hissed."That's where you're making the mistake, sir. I had a professional accountant by my side when I was auditing the accounts." Jackson drew out some documents to show them signature of a Chartered Accountant. The room was silent for a while before Keith got up. "We surely can't take this lying down! Summon the Manager of the Factory right now!"In less than 2 minutes, Isaac Moore was standing opposite the board members, his face grim as he listened to the charges leveled against him."I have nothing to do with this! These reports are lies cooked up by this man!" He pointed accusing fingers at Jackson."Are you saying the account of your asst Financial secretary is fake?"Isaac face blanched when he set his eyes on Stephen. "You! How dare you betray me after all I've done for you?""I-" Stephen trembled visibly."In case you don't know, I'm paying for your grandma's life support. From today onwards, consider her dead!""No!" Stephen cried. "You can't do that, please. I didn't want to expose you but I had no choice, one of the board members threatened me to!"Everyone gasped.Even Jackson was shocked. "What are you talking about?"Stephen had approached him yesterday offering to help expose Isaac Moore, his enemy. He couldn't imagine there was a story behind his compliance.Isaac was already fuming. "A board member threatened you to expose me! Who the hell is that?" he rushed to grab Stephen's collar. "Tell me before I kill you!""It was Mr Keith!" Stephen replied shakily. "He promised that if I exposed you, he would make me the next Manager of Factory, please don't kill me!" Stephen was clearly scared and afraid of Isaac."So it was you!" Isaac turned back to face Keith. "After cheating me of all the money we stole, you planned to betray and place all the blame on me!""Shut the hell up, and stop slandering me!" Keith gritted angrily. "When have I ever collected money from you?""Oh, you want me to remind you?" Isaac laughed, retrieving his phone. "I have evidence! Ample evidence, and I'm willing to go down if it would drag you down with me!"The next minute, everyone in the hall was frozen with shock. The amount of video and text evidences Isaac had in store was staggering. Not only Keith, 3 other board members were also implicated in the rife."Call the police to drag these criminals away!"In less than 5 minutes, the board room was thrown into commotion as the police arrived to drag the crime perpetrators away. "Let go of me, I didn't take any money! These men are just scheming to pull me down!" One of the board members, Mr Roman was very loud. "What do you mean by scheming against you?" Isaac slammed at him. "Weren't you the one that brought the idea of keeping the leftover money for ourselves?""What? I didn't" Before Roman could object completely, Isaac slammed a photo evidence on the table which sent him mute. "You're a snake, Isaac! Why did you have to drag me into this? Wasn't I on my own when you brought the proposal, forcing me to join?" Another man, Mr Jacob complained angrily. "I forced you until you got the first payment. After then, who kept disturbing me to get the deal?" Isaac slammed back at him. "You!" All the implicated board members were unable to speak again.Objecting to Isaac would just lead to the exposure of more evidence. "You're going to p
"Yes, I did. I awarded the contract to a company more deserving of it. What will you do about that?" Jackson glared coldly at Miranda. "You did what?" Her VP, Henry came out of nowhere looking perplexed. "You should blame your VP for not honoring the requirements of the contract when I visited the company." Jackson said to Miranda. "Now that I've answered your question, leave!""That's impossible!" Miranda turned her fierce glare on Henry. "I still refuse to believe that this creep is the General Manager at Hutton Group? How did he get the position?""Guards!" Jackson didn't have more time to waste. "Drag them out, and never let such unruly people into this company again!""You can't throw me out!" Miranda was adamant. "How can you do this, we were once married remember? You know how much this Axel deal means to me!" "Can't you even consider the times we spent together?""Jackson. If you don't reverse this decision, I'll make sure you never enjoy your stay at this company! You're g
"What are you talking about?" Jackson shook Miss Betty's shoulders, watching the heavy tears roll down her cheeks. "Your father, he was such a nice man and-?" Betty gasped when she realized she had said something excessive. "You said a man rushed in to save my father that day, but he ended up causing more harm!" Jackson shouted. "Who are you talking about?""I...Huh." Her lips twitched. "Did I say anything like that? I'm sure it was a slip of tongue.""But, you-" Jackson was taken aback. This was something he heard very clearly just now. "Please tell me the truth, Betty. What really happened that day?"She averted her gaze. "I was just lamenting how good of a person your father was. The night he died I had gone home for the weekend when I got a call that the house had caught fire!""By the time I arrived, the fire fighters had arrived and your father's corpse was just being brought out.""There was a large knife gash on his neck, the police said he was almost dead when that final st
"Yes, Boss." Slade nodded gravely. "I actually sent some men to intercept the buyers at the black market, but they were attacked and brutally injured.""What?" Jackson was more than appalled. "Who dares to hurt my men? Have you discovered who they are? Where's the housekeeper now?""Betty managed to escape." Slade gritted. "All the men were injured, so no one was able to run after her.""I knew it! I knew that woman was not being sincere the first moment set my eyes on her." Jackson was so upset. "That sculpture cost my father a lot of money, I can't just let it go like that!""Boss, we-" Slade was interrupted by a phone call. He took an excuse and left, returning shortly after with a big frown. "There's trouble, Boss. The men that bought the Kneiss sculpture are members of the Dark Alphas.""And so what?" Jackson hissed angrily. The Dark Alpha was a notorious cult group involved with kidnappings, stealing, organ and drug trafficking and various criminal activities in the black marke
The next day, Jackson arrived at the office early to begin preparations. He had to supervise the first production they were having with Belare Corps. From here, they had to gauge how responsive the public was to the new products. With this, Jackson was quickly immersed into work that he didn't realize there was a commotion outside the company gates. The head Security suddenly rushed in. "Sir, we need your presence right now!""What's wrong?" Jackson frowned, not wanting to be distracted from his work. "Some set of young people are outside, protesting and calling you a manipulator, liar and cruel person!"Jackson removes his glasses. "And who are these people?"The man faltered. "I can't say, Boss. You have to come see yourself!"Jackson had no choice than to follow behind him outside the gates where he met a spectacular scene. Debra Wilson was outside there, yelling inyo a megaphone and holding a poster filled with malicious lies about him.She was surrounded by a few teenage girl
By the time Jackson could return back to work, he had wasted ample amount of time. He quickly apologized to the CEO of Belare, Miss Ferny and carried on with the inspection of the warehouse site. "This looks promising." Miss Ferny shook hands firmly with him. "We should produce the first batch of products by end of this week. Let's see the public response to it."The woman nodded, then took her cue to leave. Jackson returned to his office to meet Mr Ernestine waiting. "I'm handing over the proceeds of the police investigation to you. The guilty board members have all paid compensation, here it is." He placed a cheque on the table. "As the new Head Manager, I except you to channel it into good causes for the company." "Yea sir." Jackson received the cheque with a smile. With this, his efforts was paying off. This money was enough to cushion the incoming effects of inflation, provide incentives to workers, and they wouldn't need to increase the price like Xander originally propose
Jackson's heart went cold. "Did you see assassin that murdered Betty?""Er." Slade frowned deeply. "Our men got there right when the man tried to escape, but when we tried to apprehend him, he opened fire on us, injuring two of our men!""Hmm." Jackson nodded, slowly taking his seat. He had expected to get the housekeeper, and coax the truth of what happened from her. Unfortunately, someone got there before him and murdered her in cold blood. "The money from the sales of the Kneiss sculpture was still in her slingbag, including her passport and a flight ticket." Slade replied. "Seems she already knew the danger lurking around her."Jackson's face hardened further. "That murder was so cruel. Who could it be, Boss?" Slade had to ask. "We only have conjectures at this point. There's no evidence pointing at a particular person." Jackson gritted. "Now that the men are calm, go interrogate them again, perhaps someone saw something like a chain, an inscription or even a tattoo?"Slade b
"Boss, what do we do to them?" Slade had to ask when Jackson started making his way back to the room. "Treat them exactly how they wanted to do to me." Jackson muttered. By the time he returned to his study, the crypt-breakers were deep in work, banging and hitting mercilessly in an effort to unlock the box. He didn't want to interrupt them, so he quietly settled back in his desk. He couldn't believe Morgan was so careless. How could he send such inexperienced and useless men to attack him? What was the meaning of those riff-raffs?He got angrier the more he thought of it. 3 hours later.. Jackson was buried in his work when he heard a loud exclamation of delight. He looked up to see the crypt breakers smiling happily. "We've finally cracked the code of the box, sir. It's all open and ready for you to view now!"Jackson's heart skipped a beat as he approached them, his gaze never leaving the box. This box contained the most precious thing his father had kept in store for him.
