Chapter four

COMPLETING MY FIRST MISSION

Rosetta looked at me and smiled " I don't understand why you have to suffer so much humiliation when you can afford a lot of things. I knew you were the one who just bought the entire clothes in the King Ventures store. If you could afford all of that why are you playing this game? Don't tell me you believe in love because it is just a fantasy."

" Would you be my girlfriend? It doesn't have to be intimate. I just need you to be there when I need you and to answer my calls when needed." I said back at Rosetta trying not to answer her questions.

" Like I have said you need to show me that you can afford me. I don't need your words. I need action." Rosetta said putting on her shades with her hands on the wheel.

" When you make up for mind, come find me."

She gave me a piece of paper that looked like it had her phone number and home address. " I can..." Rosetta does off before I can finish my last word. I looked at the card and smiled. I don't blame her, she still believes I was the same loser on the campus.

I forgot about Revenge for a while and planned on upgrading myself a little bit. I looked at my phone which was old and broken. I knew it was my secret to wealth so I decided to keep it and buy a new one to second it.

As I walked to the phone store I couldn't help but notice a lot of luxurious phones. My mind drifted back to the phone I had seen with Rosetta. It was the latest iPhone.

As I walked into Foster's telecommunication company, I approached the counter, eyeing the array of gleaming smartphones. A sales representative greeted me with a friendly smile, "Welcome to Foster's Telecommunication. How may I assist you today?"

"I need the latest iPhone," I replied, determined to prove myself to Rosetta.

The salesperson presented the sleek device, showcasing its features. "Excellent choice. This model is top-of-the-line. Do you want any accessories or additional services?"

I nodded, adding a few accessories to my purchase, determined to make a statement. As I handed over my old, battered phone for a trade-in, I couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation.

My mind drifted back to the game that had brought me luck and fortune and I immediately collected or back. " I am sorry, I won't be turning this in."

The sales representative, a chubby girl with a set of blue eyes looked at me " Are you sure you don't want to turn that in? You could get a better deal on your new purchase," the sales representative urged, eyeing my old phone curiously. I hesitated for a moment, realizing the sentimental value my worn-out phone held – a symbol of my journey from obscurity to newfound prosperity. "No, this one's special. I'll keep it," I replied, a determined glint in my eyes.

As I walked back to my hostel I gleamed, I looked at my new iPhone and wondered why many of the students were having it. " There is nothing special about it. It was just a normal phone to me."

As I bent a corner I ran into Jonas. " woah! You are showing off your wealth huh?" he quickly collected the phone from me before I could walk past him. ' Give that back!." I shouted trying to get it back from him but Jonas simply stretched

" Trying to impress Davina huh? When will you realize you're nothing?"

I looked at him and smiled "You think you can just have her to yourself? It is only a matter of time before she leaves you for someone richer."

I noticed the body reaction from Jonas and before I knew what was going on, he smashed my newly bought phone on the ground. " What did you do?" I shouted in annoyance

" Guess you ain't rich after all. I could buy you tons of that." Jonas said looking at me as I gathered the shattered piece of my newly bought phone. I looked at Jonas and as I gritted my teeth I walked towards him in anger. I was about to land a blow when I saw Eddy and some of his friends walking out of the corners. They looked at me like a lion about to pounce on its prey.

" wheewww!!! Poor Frederick. Wanna cry?" Steven one of Jonas a friends said with a smile to made me almost want to slap him in his face. I heard a voice that made me stand still " Is that Rosetta? What is she doing here?" I asked myself as I turned to look at her face

Rosetta stepped forward, her presence commanding attention. "What's going on here?" she asked, surveying the scene. I held the shattered phone in my hand, frustration shown on my face.

Jonas smirked, "Just a little disagreement over wealth, Rosetta. Frederick here thinks he can compete with me."

Rosetta's expression shifted from curiosity to concern. "Frederick, is this true?"

I took a deep breath, choosing my words carefully. "I'm not competing, but I won't let anyone belittle me. Jonas destroyed my phone, and I won't stand for it."

She glanced at the broken device and then back at Jonas. "Jonas, that wasn't cool. You can't just destroy someone's property."

Jonas scoffed, "He's just trying to show off. I thought a reality check would do him good."

Rosetta's stern gaze turned towards me. "Frederick, revenge won't solve anything. Let it go." I clenched my old phone and more than ever I was determined to make Jonas pay for belittling me

As I looked at Rosetta, and wondered why she had led me on if she was going to be little me like she just did right now, and to make things worse she just voiced out that revenge wasn't going to solve the fact that Jonas had my girlfriend snatched from me.

Days went by, and I continued upgrading myself – both mentally and physically. I kept the shattered phone as a reminder of resilience. Unexpectedly, Rosetta appeared at the campus library, where I was immersed in my studies.

She looked surprised, "You're still here? I thought you were all about showing off."

I smiled, "I've realized there's more to life than appearances. Actions speak louder than possessions."

Rosetta raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Prove it then."
