CHAPTER 6

Kaye’s Point of View

It’s now in the afternoon and we arrived at our second stop. It’s the Palau Islands. This is part of the country called Oceania. Palau was made a part of the United States-governed Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands in 1947. Having voted and declared against joining the Federated States of Micronesia in 1979, the islands gained full sovereignty in 1994 under a Compact of Free Association with the United States.

Oceania is a geographic territory that includes Australasia, Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia. Crossing the eastern and western hemispheres, Oceania has a land area of 8,525,989 square kilometers or 3,291,903 square miles and a population of over 41 million. When compared to continents, the region of Oceania is the smallest in land area and the second smallest in population after Antarctica.

The captain told us to explore since they need to distribute the parcels to their corresponding couriers. Our time of departure later is at 10 PM, I assume?

I am with the squad and we’re wandering a city. We have a plan today. We’re going to continue our habits. We will steal the money we can add to our funds. Also, Jun made a plan earlier. He researched Palau and he found out there is a house nearby from the location of the ship. Based on his research, the crime rate in Palau is moderate solely. Embezzlement is about 16.67 over 100 which means, it’s very low. Most of the people here are confident to leave their belongings without worrying it might get stolen.

Oceania is just like a Palawan in the Philippines. It has a white sand beach. I also love nature here and it’s similar to Puerto Princesa.

We entered a beach where there are foreigners. I can’t distinguish if they are just visitors or citizens in this country. To be a good thief, you need to have a good acting skill where no one could distinguish that you’re a robber. You need to act natural when doing your plans or else, they might convict you.

We perched down in the white sand. The beach is not that crowded since it’s not a summer season.

“They’re so slow” Britney muttered.

“Just be patient” Jun murmured.

The foreigners are still having their lunch the reason for making us hungry too. “Don’t get envious guys. We will eat nice food after we completed doing our plan tonight.” Jun reminded as he noticed everyone is swallowing deeply.

After a couple of minutes, the foreigners finished eating and they put their belongings to a counter and went to the beach to take a bath. We looked at each other and it’s our turn to steal what we want.

Jun gave a sign and it means ‘operation is now started’. Joy, Laine, Britney, and I went in front of the foreigners’ belongings to make a barrier so they can’t show what the guys will be doing. Britney brings out her phone and we had a photo together. It’s a little bit complicated and tricky since it needs a little bit of acting.

“Let’s have a photo together girls!” Britney suggested and she clicked the shutter button of her phone.

While we’re having a photo, the guys behind us started stealing the stuff.

“Kyle, Charlie, and Simon go to the girls’ back to block the foreigners' view.” They followed what Jun commanded. When they are in our back, Minmin and Jun simply take all the strangers’ belongings.

“Girls, act natural okay? Let’s get out of here gradually” Kyle spoke and they began to walk one by one.

“Oh girls, I forgot something!” Joy said and she ran.

“Wait for me, Joy!!!” Laine replied. Britney and I were left behind.

“Shall we go?” I asked her. She glared to the foreigners’ direction and we perceived they’re having enjoyment.

“Let’s go,” She said and we commenced walking. 

“They’re having fun without knowing their stuff has been lifted by ours,” she declared.

Laine’s Point of View

“So, what we got?” I asked while Jun’s removing the stuff from his bag.

“I think there are no expensive things there” Simon opposed.

“Don’t lose hope” Jun said. Jun is the one who’s removing the belongings from his bag. Our eyes swelled as he put a wallet to the table in front of us.

“That’s too dense!” Britney said in shock. It’s not finished yet and Jun took out 2 gold watches.

“It’s Rolex watches, guys!” Jun exclaimed enthusiastically. Our eyes shifted diminutive because of what he said.

“What’s Rolex?” I asked and he laughed.

“You didn’t know what’s Rolex is?” He asked

“We will be going to ask it if we knew?” Joy sarcastically replied.

“Relax! This Rolex Submariner blue gold and steel costs almost nine hundred thousand pesos in the Philippines!” Everyone was shocked because of what he said.

“Really? Maybe that’s a fake one” Charlie hindered.

“No. My dad’s friend has like similar to this too and I’m not mistaken” He replied. Since he’s the most intelligent here, we believe and trust him.

“So, what’s inside of the wallet?” Minmin asked. Kaye took the wallet and examined its contents. She put tons of money on the table.

“It’s US Dollars!” Kyle was overwhelmed while Britney meticulously counted it.

“It’s ten thousand dollars,” Britney told.

“How much it to peso?” Joy asked.

“What is the exchange rate first?” Kaye meddled.

“As far as I know, 1 dollar is equivalent to 48 pesos?” Jun responded.

“480,000 pesos???” Charlie elucidated.

“Absolutely yes!” I gushed.

“Okay let’s divide it into 9 so you can add it to your savings”

“I thought we were having dinner later?” Minmin asked.

“That’s my treat from my savings...” Everyone went silent because of what Jun said. He’s very lovable and benevolent. He always treats us foods.

“No. You’re perpetually treating us. We will be having dinner later and that’s our treat!” Charlie suggested.

“That’s a good idea! This our first treat for you!” Britney agreed to what Charlie’s recommended.

“That would be great! Let's have fun later!” I screamed and we had a group hug. Honestly speaking, I feel the appreciation here more than to my family. This friendship is more valuable to me than anything else.

It’s now evening and we need to finish our plan before we leave this place. If we concluded this early as possible, we will be having a good dinner here. If not, we will continue it to our next destination.

We arrived at a place where we will be going to do our mission. The house is larger three times than to the Reyes’ house. Everyone is supposing we will succeed because we learned our lesson from our previous litigations.

Jun took deep research into this house. From the security, the structure of the house, and the contents inside. This house belongs to Mr. and Mrs. Fardels. They have multiple businesses that make them a billionaire.

Unlike Mr. and Mrs. Reyes' house, our target is the money that is located in the master bedroom. They didn’t spend too much money on designer stuff and I am expecting we will get tons of money today.

We entered the house. The exterior looks big but when you enter, it looks tiny. I don’t know what’s the meaning of it.

We proceeded to the master bedroom while Charlie and Kyle were left in the main door to be a spectator.

Once we reached the master bedroom, I feel something strange. It looks like not an ordinary house. It has a simple interior design.

We reached a drawer and Jun opened it. He immediately opens his bag and took all of the money inside of the cabinet.

Since our goal is money only, I decided to circulate the house. 

“There is no further furniture huh?” I asked curiously. While I continued wandering, I stepped on something. I looked at it and it was a newspaper.

I took and read it. In the headline, I discerned Mr. and Mrs. Fardel’s name. “So, they’re popular here,” I said and I continued reading the newspaper. My eyes widened when I perceived something.

Mr. and Mrs. Fardels are wanted. Their businesses are illegal medications and they sell it to various countries...

I was agitated and outraged because of what I have read. “GUYS!!!” I screeched and the folks inside of the master bedroom went outside.

“We need to leave this place as soon as possible,” Jun said nervously.

“Do you know this?” I asked and showed them the newspaper.

“This newspaper was released earlier and I didn’t know about this,” Jun said.

“Gosh, why there are different illegal substances in the room?” I entered the room again and my optics augmented because of what I saw. Tons of illegal hallucinogens.

“Let’s go! Faster guys!” we ran downstairs. Charlie and Kyle were confused about what’s happening.

“Hey? What’s the matter?” Kyle asked.

“This house was owned by the fumes pushers,” I said and they were shocked. We instantly ran outside of the house. We noticed there are people outside therefore we proceed to the backyard to hide.

“Hun, why the door is open?” A lady asked.

“Maybe the helper passes by” 

“Wait, there is money here!” I don’t know what’s happening since we’re in the backyard. The house became silent for a moment.

“They’re gone?” I asked.

“I think so” Simon answered. we carefully stood up and went in front of the house.

“Tuuuugs!” Britney accidentally ruined a vase while running.

“Who’s that?” A lady spoke.

“Let’s run after the 3. 1...2...3” and we ran. I saw on my peripheral vision the couple and they’re mad about what we did. Since we don’t have any mode of transportation, we don’t have any choice but to run faster as much as possible...
