Slade followed his father to a VIP ward.

Mr. Joshua stopped and turned to Slade, his voice cold and stern.

" I heard that you're the one who performed the surgery on Mr. Kings." he started, while Slade's brow creased together.

He had no idea who Mr. Kings was, but nevertheless, he nodded.

" I don't know why Micheal gave you permission to perform a surgery on an important patient, but still, the man wants to see you. Make sure you're on your best behavior and don't disgrace me!"

Mr. Joshua said sternly before walking away with the group of directors behind him.

Once he was gone, Slade pushed the ward's door open and went inside.

There, he met Mr. Kings munching on his fruit happily.

He had a huge smile on his face, and Slade couldn't help but smile too.

He had saved the man's life and made him smile again with his incredible skills.

Mr. Kings was the man he had operated on after he was given a second chance.

If not for his incredible skills, the man would have died after Caleb gave him anticoagulant medication to make him bleed to death.

" Doctor Slade?" Mr. Kings called, and Slade walked closer.

" Yes." Slade replied.

The man flashed him a smile.

" This is my daughter, Adeline." he said, pointing to a beautiful woman dressed in luxurious wear, cutting an apple. "Adeline, this is Doctor Slade, the man who did my surgery."

" Oh, Doctor Slade. Thank you for saving my father's life." Adeline said, dropping the knife and the apple. She stretched her hand forward for a handshake, which Slade accepted.

" You're welcome." Slade smiled and returned his gaze to Mr. Kings, despite feeling Adeline's gaze on him.

" How are you feeling?" Slade asked.

" As you can see, I'm feeling so healthy and strong! I can jump on my feet now!"

Mr. Kings was extremely happy and joyful that he could live once again.

When he went to other hospitals, both in Capital M city and abroad, he was told that he wouldn't be able to survive if the surgery was done.

But someone recommended Goshen Medical Centre to him. And now, he survived after the surgery and could live as long as possible.

" That's good to hear. I heard you called for me." Slade said, and the old man nodded.

" Yes. I wanted to show my appreciation to you." Mr. Kings said and nudged his daughter, who stood up with her phone in her hand.

" Can I have your account details, Doctor Slade?" Slade frowned.

" Why?" he asked.

" My father wants to show his appreciation, so he wants to give you a small token of three million dollars." Adeline replied.

Slade's eyes widened at the amount of money.

Why would someone want to show appreciation with such a huge amount of money?

" But you're supposed to pay the money to the Medical Center's account, not mine." Slade said, but Mr. Kings shook his head.

" Your father told me so, but I declined. I wanted to give it to you personally." Mr. Kings said.

Slade smirked when he remembered the disdainful look his father threw at him.

It was because Mr. Kings refused to give the money to the medical center, but to him directly.

That was why his father was angry.

" You don't have to do this, Mr. Kings. I'm happy that you're fine and healthy." Slade said, wanting to refuse, but the old man was hell-bent.

"No, I insist." he said, and Slade heaved a sigh.

" Okay then." He finally gave in. " My account details are 000…..xxxxxx."

Almost immediately, Slade's phone dinged, and he took it out of his doctor's coat to check.

He saw a whopping sum of five million dollars and his heart raced with excitement.

Ever since he was born, he had never had such a huge amount of money before.

His salary as a doctor was only five thousand dollars, and it could barely cater to his needs.

Moreover, he usually used his salary to buy expensive bags for Sophia in his first life.

He didn't have any savings or good clothes because he always spent his money on his wife and her family, but not anymore.

" That is just a token of appreciation. If you need more, you can call me with this number." Adeline said and gave him her business card.

Slade said, bowing his head. He then walked out of the ward.

He had been trying to contain his happiness while he was at the ward, but once he was out, he smiled widely and continued staring at the amount in his bank account.
