"Ugh!" Nolan grunted clutching his arm as his eyes widened.

"Shit Nolan!" He heard someone's voice scream his name from behind the zombie horde. He'd been too engrossed in the fight that he had drifted away from Reuben and the others until he was fully surrounded by a small army of zombies.

Nolan once looked down at his injured arm which had a deep bite mark, and then he looked up at the zombies who were fast approaching him once more, his pan had fallen from his arm when one of the zombies snuck up on him and bit his arm.

"Damn it, will I end up changing and becoming one of these corpses too?" Nolan thought of the possibility of him becoming one of the zombies too, would that be game over for him then? What would game over signify, would he be returned back to the real world or would he... would it be a literally game over, as in dying kinda game over.

"Hell no, I definitely won't be dying in a game." Saying this Nolan quickly used his magic stopping the first few zombies approaching him as he raced away quickly jumping onto the tree behind him just when the zombies broke free and lunged at him, but they ended up hitting against the tree, however they didn't stop, the fallen zombies acted as a ladder for the other coming zombies as they climbed onto each other ascending the trees.

"These blasted persistent fuckers!" Nolan cursed as he continued to hold them back with the grass mutation ability, but the more zombies he managed to stall, the more of them rushed over the fallen ones.

"This is the part where I realize I really shouldn't have let my guard down, I should have gotten a better weapon damnit!" Nolan cursed, he'd been playful at first, thinking being in a game was nothing serious until he'd gotten hurt and watched his own blood spilling from his arm.

Just as one of the zombies was about to grab Nolan's leg from behind the branch he'd sat on, it's head was suddenly blasted from afar.

Nolan whipped around and caught sight of the legendary three rushing towards him. He frowned as he watched them dash into the army of zombies Nolan had impulsively thought he could defeat. Perhaps his self confidence had sky rocketed as he'd been able to defeat a large number of zombies.

Earlier when they arrived at the cemetery of Blue city to fight more zombies, the others had decided upon a careful mode of attack, the zombies roamed here and there amidst graves of people who'd most probably died even before the apocalypse.

The minute Reuben signalled they attack, Nolan had excitedly dashed forward until a large army of zombies that came out of nowhere surrounded him cutting him away from the other three, he'd been laying waste to them feeling the adrenaline pumping, until his pan, his precious little weapon had been destroyed by too much impact and he was left weaponless amid all the danger. The other three had been too far to reach, and Nolan had had to stall the zombies using his magic, but he ended up sustaining a scratch from one zombie and eventually a painful bite from the zombie's disgusting teeth.

Paul rained his bullets, blasting up their brains mercilessly, Reuben swung his flames covered flail that landed like bombs upon each zombie it hit blowing up it's head, and Maya relentlessly used her ability to throw the zombies far away before shooting double bullets at once taking two down in the place of one.

Nolan felt a strange emotion as he watched them relentlessly dash into the zombie horde without another thought just to save him. He was just a nobody they happened to come across, if they wanted to they could have run off leaving him, the number of zombies lurking at the cemetery was astounding, however they didn't run for their lives, but came to save his.

"We can't kill them all, they keep coming out of heaven knows where." Reuben said, though danger lurked all around them in the form of corpse like creatures with snarling fangs and a deadly virus, he still held a calm expression as he instructed his team, "One of you get Nolan and let's get out of here."

"Use your wind to create an opening Paul, I'll go get him." Maya said as he immediately rushed forward, Paul went on cue using the last remaining energy in him to create a wind that blasted off the zombies creating an opening for Maya. Paul could feel his energy reserve completely drained now, he wouldn't be able to use his magic anymore for the time being, loading his gun once more, he began to shoot letting out a battle cry as he cleared a path for Maya.

"On my cue, jump!" Maya said to Nolan as she neared the tree, she immediately ran to the other side of the tree and the zombies seeing she was closer changed directions chasing after her, "Now!"

Nolan leapt off the tree, keeping himself safe with his magic, but he noticed Maya suddenly trapped by the zombies that chased after her, she shot at a few of them until her bullet was suddenly exhausted, panicked she tried to use her magic, but her magical energy had been depleted.

The space around Nolan was now cleared and he could run off to the safe zone where Paul and Reuben were motioning for him, however he didn't go towards their direction.

"Oh no, she's trapped, she might get bitten too." Nolan looked down at himself realizing that he'd already been bitten so his health no longer mattered much, however for an innocent girl who rushed in to save him, he couldn't just allow her get infected too.

Just as the zombies were about to pounce on Maya, Reuben and Paul suddenly also noticed she was trapped, they dashed forward, however were too far to be able to reach in time.

A figure however sped forward leaping, he jumped over the zombie heap landing right in the center of the zombie army.

Maya looked at Nolan with surprise filled eyes, "Why the hell didn't you run into the safe zone?" She asked.

"Stay down."

Wisps of grass suddenly crept up Maya's skin slowly covering her body from her legs up, "You..." She managed to say before the grass pulled her down shielding her completely.

"Activate, epic grass mutation!" Nolan cried out loudly.

Nolan knew this was going to suck out his whole energy, including his dwindling health level, but he did it anyway.

All of a sudden the wind itself seemed to stop, the billowing tress paused right where they were. Nolan's eyes shone with green streaks that seemed to run through his veins, the zombies were already closing in, a few grotesque looking arms just about to snatch Nolan when a loud deafening blast suddenly sounded.

"Boom!"

And everything suddenly went blank.

The smell of sand filled his nose, Nolan wrinkled his nose as voices of what seemed like people filled his ears.

He hadn't even opened his eyes yet when a set of notifications filled his subconscious.

"Ouch!" He winced when the beeping sounds of the notifications brought on a headache on. He clutched his head tightly until he heard the last notification clearly.

*Ding!

7,655 zombies killed, 42, 345 zombies left to complete level one.'

Immediately after that notification ended, he heard a familiar male and female voice.

"Hey guys, he's up." The female voice said.

"Get the doctor!" The male voice which Nolan recognized to be Reuben's spoke next.

He heard a set of footsteps before someone seemed to move close to him, and then he felt their hands checking his pulse and something creeping into his ear.

"Buzz off!" Nolan subconsciously spat as he swatted whatever wanted to go into his ear before springing up into a sitting position, his eyes then scanned his surroundings.

There was a middle aged man with dark sun tanned skin besides him while he was on the bed in a room with three walls, the fourth wall apparently collapsed from where he could see the quiet streets outside.

"Just as we suspected, he's uninfected himself." The man said checking the device in his hand with a wrinkled yet pleasantly amused frown on his face.

"Doctor Faraday, does this mean that..." Paul began his question, however the doctor as if knowing what he was about to ask suddenly cut him off replying,

"Yes, his unusual powers might be the antidote." The doctor's voice held excitement, "This might be it, this world might have found it's hero."

The legendary three stood staring at Nolan like a puzzle, yet there was relief and disbelief in their eyes at the same time.

"What antidote? What hero?" Nolan asked not knowing what was going on around him.

Maya stepped forward, her eyes no longer holding disdain for Nolan, instead they held gratitude as she said, "You are Nolan. Your magic is the antidote for the virus."

"Like hell..." Nolan muttered as his jaw dropped in surprise.

What was all this happening?

Nolan had assumed it would be straightforward just like in the game and he would just have to go hunting for zombies, then he'd kill a thousand and level up to the next dimension, but how come it wasn't like the game at all.

'Why does this sound like this level of the game has suddenly gained a plot...and I could be it's main character?'
