He Can't Be Fooled

"I'm still the one who has nothing," William said in a low voice. The atmosphere became silent for a moment. A gust of wind added drama to William's words. His face looked serious, his eyes looking straight at Merida.

"What do you mean?" asked Merida, her brow furrowed, trying to understand what William really meant. The atmosphere became tense, and their hearts beat faster.

"Well, if you want to talk about money, I'm still the same person." William pretended to be sad, his eyes glancing at Merida, trying to catch every expression that appeared on her face. He felt the need to test Merida's reaction, to see to what extent she could accept the fact that she was not a rich person.

"So here's the thing, Merida," William continued with a long sigh. "When I was working and I did well, my boss gave me a one-time shopping bonus and it was free to shop anywhere." He paused for a moment, waiting for Merida's reaction.
