Horrible Human

Chris's eyes widened in awe as he saw the woman in his arms was no other person than Liana. He immediately let go of her as she regained her posture and stood back on her feet with a mockery gaze tinted on her face.

"Surprised aren't you?" Liana smiled at him, slapping him across his shoulders and Chris was quick to dust it off. He adjusted his gaze from her as all the humiliations he had faced in the graduation ceremony flashed in his head. He rolled his eyes as he threw shades at the smiley woman standing before him.

Seeing that he didn't respond to her question, Liana proceeded with the talking. "About what happened at the ceremony, it's supposed to happen and you can't blame me for not being faithful, blame yourself for being poor." She said a scowling look on her face as she kissed her teeth.

Chris just stood still, his eyes twitching at her statement.

Was it supposed to happen?

Chris was dumbfounded. He didn't know what to do but to walk past her as he unknowingly stepped on a bouquet that was on the ground.

"You've ruined my flowers." She yelled. She ran over to him and picked up the flowers from the ground.

Chris wondered what the latter was trying to do and what she was doing around this secluded area.

"Too bad you're too poor to even afford one to place on your father's grave." Liana laughed as she handed over the ruined bouquet to Chris who subconsciously accepted it. "I know you can't afford one as it'll affect your daily expenses and besides I received your award in your place."

"What? How could you?" Chris was forced to retort.

"If only you were there to receive it." She folded her arms across her full chest with a smug look on her face as she kissed her teeth. "Tsk, tsk."

"Liana, what do you want?" Chris still holding onto the flowers as he was tired of her continuous drama. Wasn't cheating on him enough?

"I followed you here." She informed, letting out a sigh.

"Why? You stalking me?"

Liana burst into a peak of hilarious laughter. "Me? Stalk you? Who the hell do you think you are." She asked as she continued with her laughter.

Chris rolled his eyes as his jaws dropped. He wasn't expecting her to laugh at his questions as he was being serious. He tried to walk away but she stood him in his tracks.

"You don't leave while I'm not done." She instructed.

Chris's grip tightened on the flower as he clenched his fist, undermining the fact that he couldn't do anything at the moment.

"Liana, you're wasting my time. I need to go make some applications." Chris interjected but his words fell on deafening ears.

"You poor thing!" She dug her hand into her inner pocket brought out a card and hit it on Chris's chest. "That's my boyfriend's card or should I say, my fiance. Let me help your poor life."

"Didn't ask for it." Chris retorted as he was about to return the card to her but she bluntly refused, still claiming that she wanted to help his life. For some reason, Chris wanted to bring out his grandfather's card and show it to her but now wasn't the time.

"My fiance is the head of the Evans Group HR and you can drop by with your applications to apply for a job if you're deemed fit at least you can invest with your brain."

Her words made him realize that she indeed stayed with him all through high school and college because of his intellectual skills and how he had been helping her with her school projects and homework. Chris silently regretted all of that and wished he had never met such a horrible human.

"Is that all?"

"No, that's not all." Again, she dug her hand inside her pocket and brought out a sealed envelope. She unsealed it and handed it over to Chris.

Chris ran his eyes on the envelope and saw Liana's name boldly written on it and that of her fiance the head of the Evans Group HR.

"You're getting married?" Chris's eyes widened in shock. For some reason, the latter was surprised as this was too sudden. It hadn't been up to two days and barely a day before they broke up and now she was giving him her wedding card.

What a life! Life happens to be cruel to Chris as the latter didn't know what he did to deserve such cruel treatment.

Liana nodded her head in response. "I'll be getting married in two days and I just want to inform you, that's the sole reason for me following you here and yes, I stalked you after the graduation ceremony."

Unbelievable!

Chris threw the bouquet, his hands trembling as he gazed hard at the wedding card. He didn't know why he was pained but everything was uncalled for.

"I guess, I have no business with you until my wedding day. Be there and watch me slayyy." She winked at him before turning him back to leave.

Chris watched her as she disappeared from his sight. The woman he had spent almost all the years of his life with just invited him to her wedding. He had dreamt of her walking down the aisle and how they'd exchange their vows at the altar but not anymore as that was just a dream since she was going to do that with another man. His hands trembled as he held onto the wedding card, a tear dropped from his eyes and fell on the card.

He couldn't believe how cruel and heartless Liana could be to the extent she had the guts to invite him to her wedding to watch her slay.

Chris thought about asking his grandfather for help as he didn't know if he'd attend the wedding or not but one thing was sure Liana would regret ever leaving him.
