Chris was in his late father's house when he received a call from an unknown number.
The latter was sitting on the old and only couch in the sitting room, with his legs crossed as he gazed up to the ceiling, resting his back on the couch, a lot of thoughts ran through his head, unanswered questions that had failed to be answered. The call jolted him back to reality as he took his small cell phone, frowning at the unknown ID.Chris knew now wasn't the time to play funny games or joke with anyone. He declined the call and dropped the phone beside him but seconds later, the call came again, from the same person. With a sigh, Chris reluctantly answered the call, not making a sound as a familiar voice resounded in his ears."Son, don't know what day it is?""Huh?"Chris's eyes widened in shock as he remembered this voice belonged to his grandfather whom he met at the cemetery where his father was buried. And by what day is it, what did he mean?"Grand... grandfather, I didn't know the caller was you," Chris said immediately."Don't worry about that, Christopher. It's two days now and I remember you encountering a lady at the cemetery." The man's voice resounded over the phone, as Chris's eyes widened in awe, making him sit at the edge of the couch. "Don't ask me where I got this information from. Just stand up and follow my every lead."Chris was stunned speechless, he didn't know what came into that old man's head or was he drunk. He double-checked the caller ID to make sure the call hadn't diverted to a drunk person. Either way, Chris stood up and followed the directions given to him by the old man.The old man's direction led Chris outside his father's old incomplete house. Chris examined everywhere but he didn't see anything worthy or extravagant outside the house that was covered with bushes."Something's at your doorstep." Came the old man's voice.Chris's eyes moved down as he lowered his gaze to the ground where his eyes caught up with a package that was tightly sealed. He was hesitant before taking the package and going back to the sitting room where he placed it beside him on the couch."Get ready for the wedding. Like I said, those who mocked and humiliated you will go on their knees before you." The old man reassured him, his voice firm and filled with certainty.Chris didn't get a chance to thank his grandfather because the old man hung up immediately after he finished saying his words of reassurance. With a sigh, Chris dropped his phone, recalling the day he met Liana at the cemetery."What? In two days? Her wedding must be today then!" Chris gasps in realization. He didn't know why he was overwhelmed by it as he immediately felt uneasy. His eyes met with the sealed package as he took it and placed it on his thighs, examining the four corners of it before aggressively bursting it open with his fist."What the...?"Meanwhile, Liana's wedding was going on smoothly in a large ballroom that glittered the extravagant interior decor. The air was filled with laughter and music as everyone in the ballroom danced to the tune of the song that was being played by the dee jay.The couples, however, were still preparing to make themselves known to the congregation as they were in a room, getting dressed separately by their stylist.Liana clasps her sweaty palms as she is nervous and anxious about her wedding. Her mother who was standing beside her while the stylist worked on Liana's hair, leaned closer as she placed her warm hands on her daughter's sweaty palm."It's your wedding day, Liana. You made the right decision of dumping that looser immediately during your graduation and now you are married to the most eligible bachelor in the city. Isn't that dream come true?" Her mother said with a smile on her face, creasing her eyes and making the wrinkles beside her eyes visible.Liana looked up to her mother and adjusted her gaze back to her palm. She didn't know if she did the right thing by dumping Chris as his conscience started playing several tricks on her making her feel uneasy and regretting her decision. She tried to take her mother's words to heart but it didn't settle with her. Not too long ago, the laughter of her friends disrupted the tense air.Liana turned around and found her colleagues running forward the her with their faces brightened up with a smile as they approached her, congratulating her on her wedding day."Congratulations, Liana." They said in unison. One of them brought out a phone and showed Liana a video. Liana's eyes shook immediately she watched the video that trended on the net when she dumped and cursed Chris in the presence of everyone. She grabbed the phone from the person and ran to the comment section, thinking that she'd get a negative response to all that I'd watched the video on the net but thankfully all came out well as she handed the phone back. For some reason, she started processing her mother's words in her head and she cursed herself inwardly for regretting why she ever dumped Chris. That son of a debtor. Her colleagues cheered her up, while her soon-to-be husband kept on smiling while his suit was being done by his stylist. He couldn't help but smile, seeing Liana happily chatting with her friends with a bouquet in her hand. She was finally going to be his forever after a long time of their secret relationship."It seems you're in a really good mood." His best man noticed his sudden change of countenance and couldn't help but remark."Who wouldn't be in a good mood on their wedding day?" Richard chuckled."I just hope, things don't get screwed up."Before they left the room. An announcement was made that the bride and the groom needed to make entrance to the reception hall.Liana intertwined her fingers with Richard as they made their way to the reception hall. She kept a straight face as she didn't want anything to get screwed on her wedding but something kept sending shivers down her spine and goosebumps on her skin. She turned around to see who just made entrance to her wedding only for her to lock her gaze with her doom. The wedding was going on smoothly, Liana seemed happy but her countenance was unreadable. Her husband stood beside her as they addressed the congregation. Everyone cheered and they were happy for the newlyweds.Chris stood by the doorway, darkness surrounding him as he walked further to stand amidst the congregation. Liana's gaze locked with his, sending shivers down his spine but Chris was not bothered as he watched the woman he had loved dearly get married in his presence and she had no shame and also invited him to her wedding with his shamelessly attended. Both of them lack shame.Chris was dressed in a black tailored suit alongside black shoes that one could easilp see their reflection on. He stood tall amidst the crowd as no one was able to recognize him but his eyes met with the colleagues who mocked and cursed him after his father died leaving him his debt to pay.He smirked at the sight of the happy couple but he knew something was off with Liana. The latter was faking a smil
Richard saw the commotion going on. He found his newly wedded wife beside the man who shared a resemblance with the man in the photo. He saw how his wife was pointing fingers at him and laughing. The others weren't exempted even the people who didn't know him before joined in the laughter. This made Richard shudder even more."How am I going to handle this?" He asked rubbing his temple in frustration as he started biting his fingernails. Richard gazed at his phone one more time, seeing the photo and the man who was being humiliated made him go weak on his knees. "What should I do now? Liana is a deep trouble."His best man, Larry, saw Richard's shaking figure from afar. He knew things weren't going well with the latter as he approached him making Richard startled."Gosh, you startled me," Richard said in shock."What's the matter? Why are the seats empty? Your mother-in-law and the others are waiting for you and your bride in the room." Larry informed. He focused his gaze on the congr
"You can't humiliate my boss in my presence." Were the words that came out of Richard's mouth leaving Liana completely dumbfounded. "What? Your boss?" Liana asked in disbelief.Chris stood there frozen, he tried to mask his confusion with a smirk on his face as he was the one to mock Liana with a mockery smile on his face. Liana almost lost it as she tried to make her husband get up but he pushed her away for the second time."I'm so sorry, sir. I didn't recognize you on the day of the graduation ceremony. Please accept my apology, boss." Richard bowed.Everyone gasped.Liana's mother came out of the room after waiting patiently for the bride and the groom and they didn't show up, she decided to come get them herself."What's going on here?" She asked, angry etched in her face.Liana went to meet her mother, her hands trembling and her legs threatened to cut off. Her movements weren't stable until her mother helped her posture."Mother, can you see what Richard is doing? He's bowing
Days passed and Chris didn't hear from either his grandfather or his ex-girlfriend including her husband. He remembered vividly what happened on the day of her wedding when his secret identity was revealed. While listening to some calm songs, he swiveled the wine glass in his hand and had a sip when his doorbell rang.Chris tiredly stood up from his seat, dropping the wine glass on the small stool in front of him. He thought of moving to his grandfather's mansion but he decided to give it some time as he was displeased with staying in this small house when he had a great identity. He opened the door, only to find a package on the ground. "Did grandfather send another luxurious suit? What's the occasion now?" Chris rolled his eyes as he took the package, placing it on the floor beside him as he continued sipping from the wine glass while sitting on the couch. While thinking about what happened during the wedding, he couldn't help but smile to himself. "So that's what the old man meant
Before Liana hung up, she urged Chris to open the package she sent but Chris was reluctant. He didn't narrate to her what transpired between him and Richard as he was in a hurry to hang up.He dropped his phone on the ground, heaving a sigh as his eyes met with the package. Chris stood up and walked to where he kept the package, the package looked suspicious so he had to stand his ground and he took it and placed it on the stool, beads of sweat formed on his head as his hands shook while he was trying to open it."Hope it's something good." He muttered inwardly. With his eyes closed, Chris opened that package, but immediately he was about to get a glance at its content, the buzzing sound of his phone disrupted his motive. The caller id was unknown but when he answered the phone, his grandfather's voice resounded in his ears."Christopher, you need to move out of that house." The old man's voice was loud and firm.Chris face palmed himself as he sighed in frustration. "Why the rush, s
A deep frown settled on Chris's face when he turned around and found Liana behind him, panting as her attempts on trying to hijack him failed. The latter had a black mask on, trying to conceal her identity."What the fuck? Are you okay? You keep stalking me." Chris yelled, raising his hand."Do you want to hit me? Go ahead and do it." Liana said, removing the face mask she had. "You didn't read the letter I wrote to you, did you?"Chris leaned on the wall, the frown on his face still intact, he folded his arms as he threw shades at her, his gaze not leaving hers. "What letter?""I sent you a package. You didn't even open it even when I called you to." Liana said disappointment etched on her voice."Hmm." Chris pinched the bridge of his nose. He didn't want to spend so much time with her as he knew his grandfather's men were waiting for him. He brought out his phone checking the time. "Do you have anything to say? Make it snappy."Liana clenched her fist beside her. What was he trying
The drive to the Chairman's mansion was long and tiring. Chris unknowingly slept off on one of the men sitting beside his shoulder. He was woken up by the buzzing sound of a ringing phone."I'm sorry to disturb your slumber. The chairman wants to speak with you." The man sitting opposite him said as he handed over the phone to Chris.Chris cleared his throat and wiped the saliva that was at the corner of his mouth with the back of his palm. The man sitting beside him used a handkerchief to wipe the little sweat and saliva from Chris off his shoulder but Chris wasn't aware of his actions. The Chairman's voice resounded in his ears, everyone seated was silent and the car stopped moving. "My very own grandson, how's the ride?" Came the chairman's voice."It's a boring one but I'm good," Chris said, shifting his gaze to the window. His grandfather laughed over the phone. "I like you for your honesty. My men aren't the type to engage in conversations but rest assured they're good people."
Coldie's revelation made cold shivers run down the receptionist's spine. Chris stood beside Coldie who was quite hefty than him or even more hefty, he had a a scornful smile plastered on his face. The receptionist's eyes darted on Chris in disbelief. "The grandson of the chairman?" She asked in doubt, her voice shaky.Coldie nodded in response and gave her a strict warning not to bash their young master and if she does, she'll be fired from her job and the chairman would make sure she doesn't get any job in the future. The receptionist pleaded. "I'm so sorry, I never knew he's the Chairman's grandson.""Don't judge a book by its cover." Chris managed to say. He needed to get out of his haggard clothes and get something expensive for himself. The receptionist continued with her apology. Christopher was eager to let what happened slide because he knew it wasn't her fault. If only he had dressed elegantly just like Coldie and the others had.Coldie asked for the staff to show them to the
