Chapter 81: Replace Jessica

Theo walked quietly through the sterile white halls of the hospital, glancing at the room numbers until he finally reached Steven’s ward as directed by one of the nurses.

Taking a deep breath, he knocked gently, letting his expression soften as he prepared to play the part he had rehearsed. He stepped inside to find Juliet, her face red and eyes puffy from crying, sitting on the edge of the bed.

“Mrs. Thompson?” he asked softly. “I’m Theo… Emily’s friend. She told me a bit about what you’re going through, and I wanted to check in on you.”

Juliet looked up, surprised to see a strange man in her front, and her eyes filled again with tears. “Emily… Emily’s done enough damage already,” she choked, her voice laced with bitterness.

“If it weren’t for her stubbornness…the family wouldn’t be on the edge of ruin. My husband is suffering in this hospital bed because of the stress she has caused. We could have had everything! And she just… turned it all down.”
