CHAPTER 011

"Hmmm, the statue, made of pure gold.” He whispered.

That image was over five decades old. It was the oldest patrimony his family ever had.

He recalled how his father and grandfather cherished it and kept it away from the reach of children. That statue is an inheritance that cannot be traded for any amount of money.

“Another opportunity to take what belongs to us. Make all the preparations needed for tonight.”

“Alright!” Andy nodded.

“I have to go now. I don't want to keep my wife waiting.”

“Andy giggled.” He was left in awe about how Noah genuinely cared for Rieka.

“Bye!” Noah gave him a pat on his back.

Noah rode his scooter and waited opposite the Top Notch Group company. He saw Rieka exchanging pleasantries with some of the company's shareholders as she exited the building.

The next moment, a Mercedes Benz pulled over before Rieka. The car door opened and a man stepped out.

He wore a blue button-down shirt, black pants, and black shoes.

“Rieka!”

The man stood before holding a gift box. “You look beautiful, I must confess. The stress of your work does not affect your beauty. Can we have a movie night later? At my place, I've made all the arrangements. I want to spend some time with you.”

The man was Billy Swelvys, a member of the Swelvys family. One of the three first-class families in Linton City.

With Rieka's position as the personal assistant to Brucy Kings, everyone wanted to have a cordial relationship with her. Her positive impact at work increased her fame.

However, she hardly talks about her marital life. But those who were aware that she had a husband, ignored that fact and kept on trying their luck to have Rieka.

Then, Noah rode over to where she stood. She blushed and moved closer to him. Placing a hand on his chest, she kissed him deeply.

“What's your take on having a movie night with him?” She said pointing to Billy. “Lately, all I do is work, work, and work. It's an opportunity to rest well.”

“It's a good idea. I've never experienced such, I'd like to go along with you if it's convenient.”

Billy's face tightened. He went closer to them. “It is not convenient. You are not worthy to be her husband. You are a pauper with little or nothing to offer her. She'll be happy to be mine, I can assure you.”

“Enough!” Rieka yelled at Billy.

Then he asked, “Are you happy this coward is called your husband? Can't you see you deserve better and that's me?”

Rieka gave a loud outburst of laughter, “Really?”

“Let's strike a deal, I'll offer you five hundred dollars to annul your marital union with Rieka.”

“Honey, what do you think?”

“It's a nice idea. With that, you'll be able to take care of yourself and live a decent life after divorcing me.”

“Deal! But you have to transfer the money now.”

“Sure, give me your account number.” Billy happily requested.

Noah winked at Rieka and she called out the numbers. “007****589”

Billy cleared his throat. “Your bank account has been credited. Take your scooter and leave now. Rieka is now mine.”

“Acknowledged but we have to carry out the annulment process at the Civil Affairs Bureau. Let's proceed, sweetheart.”

Rieka hopped on the scooter, seated behind Noah with her hands wrapped around his waist. Billy was confused.

It dawned on Billy that they had outsmarted him. “Stop there! You fool.” Running towards them, the gift box he was holding came crashing to the floor and the cake in it broke. Furiously, he stepped on the cake, smashing it completely. “This is not the end.”

After a few minutes, they arrived home. Rieka and Noah were laughing hard and mocking Billy.

“Could you imagine the nerves he has? So proud and arrogant. Well, he sent it to my account so I am five hundred dollars richer.” She teased him.

“Huh?” It's mine. It's for the annulment of our marital union.” Noah said, folding his arms.

“Annulment? That must be a joke of the century. She laughed. “Alright because I pay the bills of the house, I'll take eighty percent while you get twenty percent.”

“But…”

“No but, do you accept?”

“Yes! When will I get the money?”

“Money?”

A familiar voice interrupted.

“Never mind,” Rieka said as she pulled off her shoes.

Tom marched towards them, I overheard you saying you'll take eighty percent and give him twenty percent!”

“Of what use is this man to you?”

Rieka ignored him because he was nagging for something he had no details about.

Noah pursed his lips, we were just having some moments together, nothing attached.

“Hmm! It seems you've forgotten your position in this house. I'll remind you.”

Rieka stared at Tom.

“I need you to wash my clothes. It's in a blue basket in the laundry room.”

Immediately Rieka stood up, “What's that supposed to mean? Can't you do your laundry yourself?”

“Well, pending when he is here he'll do all the chores.”

Rieka hissed and slumped on the couch.

“It's fine, I'll do it,” Noah said calmly but within, he was filled with rage.

After two hours, Noah returned to their room and lay on the bed, feeling extremely tired. “Honey, I am tired.”

“Sorry, you could have refused instead of accepting to do his laundry.” Rieka glared at him.

Noah requested. “When are you sending my share of the money to me?” I need to get some personal stuff, it's been a while since I took whiskey.

“Alcohol is not good for you,” she teased. Do you expect me to believe you are broke?”

“Of course, because I'm broke.”

“That's not true. A week ago, a parcel was delivered here and the delivery man said it was meant for you. When I opened it, it was a black card.”

“I decided to keep it for you.”

Rieka pulled the card out and showed it to him. The only thing written on it was the supreme ruler.

She glared at the card, looking surprised. “Who is the supreme ruler? And it has no numbers on it.”

Mumbling words, Noah said. “I can't say but I'm certain it belongs to my distant family member who owns the supreme villa. Such cards can be used anywhere across the world so having no numbers is not a big deal.”

That supreme ruler card was the only one that existed. He got the card because of his victory, power, and status. The card was mailed to him because he didn't care to take it when he left for Linton City. He is not aware of the amount in the card.

Not convinced, Rieka pouted. “I'll keep the card safe on your behalf.”

“That's fine! I know you'll keep it well.” Noah said calmly.
