CHAPTER 012

“Let's have dinner,” Rieka said, walking out of the room. “I am so hungry.”

Noah stood and walked behind her. “Alright!”

When they were halfway done with their meal, Senior Fullams spoke.

“There will be an event happening at the Grichy's house tonight. Rieka, I think you should attend. It will also increase your fame and connection with the rich folks.”

“That's true, I almost forgot about the event.”

Quickly, Rieka held Noah's hand and they went back to their room.

“Can you help me choose what to wear?” Rieka said, staring at her wardrobe. “I don't seem to see the best for this event.”

Noah walked towards her. “Let me see, let me see,” he said, his eyes scanning through the clothes in the wardrobe.

“This one looks good and it suits the event.” Noah pointed at a white, high-neck dress with no sleeves. “By the way, what's the event about?”

“The Grichy's organized an auction event. It will be happening tonight. As Grandpa said, it's an opportunity for me to get more fame and increase my business connection.”

“Wow!” Noah said. “It's a good one then.”

“Do you mind coming along?” Rieka asked.

“No, have fun. I'll be fine.

“I'll use the taxi.”

“Okay.”

It took Rieka a few minutes to get dressed and she left afterwards.

Noah also maneuvered his way out of the house.

In the Grichy's house.

The Grichy's have just one house left because all their assets have been seized. Thanks to Fiona who acquired the house in her name and not the family's name.

The Grichys were all dressed for the event.

Silas Grichy was a soldier but today he decided to wear mofty.

He wasn't present when his father was murdered. However, Silas decided to make inquiries after the death of his father with the Kendrick's.

The culprit left a clue. It had to do with the Kendrick family that was tortured to death.

He couldn't get any concrete details about it. The only information he got was that Rieka Fullams was working as a bartender in the underground hideout during the incident!

Next, he returned home. Shockingly, he met the Grichy dealing with the fact that they are now bankrupt. It's also linked to Rieka Fullams.

“We can't let the Fullams get away with this. It's a slap on our face that we are now bankrupt because of a nobody called Rieka Fullams.” Fiona said as they exited the house.

“She had a beef with Liam and the next thing was for Brucy Kings to terminate our business deals.” Fiona spoke, exaggerating it as she felt.

“I don't care about who is Brucy Kings. Let's start with the Fullams. Tonight, they'll regret ever interfering with the affairs of the Grichys and they'll serve as a lesson to others.” Silas narrowed his eyes, a frown evident on his face.

Outside the venue for the event, luxurious cars were packed, influential and prominent people were present. The venue for the event was held at the biggest and most beautiful garden in Linton City.

Most people who attended the auction did out of pity for the Grichys family while others attended to see the items that would be displayed for auction.

“The Grichys are finally here,” Andy said, pointing at the car that just packed. “I can see Silas Grichy, he is also a seasoned and tough soldier. He holds a high rank.

“Silas Grichy?” Noah smiled. “Who cares about his ranks? If he gets in my way then he'll experience what I did to his father.”

“Will anyone die tonight, Noah?”

“That I can't say, let's see how it turns out. Retrieving the statue made of pure gold is the main target.”

“What next?”

“We move at my order.”

Everyone present at the event was eager to see Fiona and Silas. Suddenly, they saw Fiona exchanging pleasantries with some guests. They expected Silas to be dressed in his military uniform but they had no glimpse of him.

They were now bankrupt, but with Silas’ presence in Linton City, it was another game entirely.

Rieka had also arrived. She looked elegant in her dress, and her hair rolled into a ponytail gave a sense of professionalism about her. She walked around and got some business connections as she had wished.

Walking around like every other guest to admire the artworks and statues displayed for auction, a statue fell as Rieka stood before it.

Smash!

The statue fell to the ground and broke into a million pieces.

“My goodness….!”

“What have you done?” An usher gazed at the broken statue and looked up at Rieka. “Why did you touch it?”

“I did not touch it, I just stood before it,” Rieka said, in disarray.

“It wasn't me, I wasn't the only one admiring it.”

“That's not true. You were the only one I saw standing before it. You do not know this item. It's a statue made of pure gold! It's worth over three billion dollars. This is the only one left in the world.”

“Rieka Fullams! You did this. I saw only you standing before it.” Another usher seconded.

The guests’ attention was diverted to where the pandemonium occurred.

“Enough!!! Why the uproar?” A middle-aged man yelled. “Is this the work we paid you to do? You ought to act as a professional in your designated position.”

The ushers paused, and then one spoke. “It… It fell…the statue of pure gold. Rieka Fullams is responsible for it.”

Silas’ face tightened and he gazed at the statue on the floor. “This is a fortune. It's shattered. Its value goes for over three billion dollars.”

Rieka went on her knees and said frantically. “I did nothing but admire it.”

Three billion dollars! There was no way she could pay for it.

“Alright! We'll know the truth now.” Silas folded his arms and stared at her. “If you were here when this happened, step forward.”

The two ushers who accused Rieka stepped forward first, then three men whose faces Rieka never came across also came forward.

“Who is responsible for this broken statue?”

“Rieka Fullams,” they chorused in unison.

Next, Silas looked at her indifferently. “Rieka Fullams, you have to pay. Three billion dollars!”

Tears rolled down Rieka's cheeks. “I didn't! I am innocent. Silas Grichy, I beg you.”

The guests were in shock and felt pity for Rieka. Fiona didn't care about what happened but called all their attention to proceed with the auction.

“Let's visit the Fullams, it's either they pay the money or pay with their lives.”

In fear, and with all humility, Rieka pleaded and declared she was innocent but it fell on deaf ears.

“Over to the Fullams!” Silas ordered.
