CHAPTER 013

At the Fullams mansion.

Rieka’s scream alerted the Fullams, Senior Grichy who was studying, got up and went to the sitting room.

“Rieka! What happened? You are supposed to be at the event?” He asked, with a cold tone.

“Search every room. Bring everyone here.”

Silas ordered, the soldiers searched each room and brought them forward forcefully.

The scream got intense as Lois and Tom questioned why they were captured and dragged with no explanation given.

Now, Senior Fullams, her grandfather; her mother, Lois; Tom, and Rieka sat in the middle of the foyer. They were the only ones who were at home at that moment.

They were all tied up.

They were confused, and couldn't explain what made Silas Grichy visit their house with his escorts at that time of the day. Although they came in with Rieka.

Silas stood before them, his hands pocketed.

“I am here because Rieka has a debt to pay and you all have to help her out.” He said, his tone etched with command as the soldiers stared at him.

Debt? Those people gave false witnesses. She knew she didn't touch the statue before it fell.

“General Silas, we are sorry but we have no idea about what's going on. Please spare us.” Senior Grichy fidgeted as he pleaded. “We will do all it takes to correct any mistake we must have made. Please give us a chance!”

Silas gave a mocking outburst. “Chance? The only way you can correct this mistake is to pay the money for it. Rieka Fullams destroyed a statue at the auction event. It's worth three billion dollars. It's either you pay or you all die.”

“Huh?”

“How did that happen?”

“Three billion dollars…!”

“That's much, all our assets cannot raise to half of the money.”

Misunderstanding sprouted forth among the Fullams as they insulted her for her costly mistake.

They accused her of being a bad omen to the family and always getting them hurt.

Rieka was speechless, the tears that rolled down her cheeks expressed her pain and hurt.

“Untie them except for Rieka,” Silas ordered.

Silas sent a secret agent to run a background check on the Fullams before he took the next step. Their assets couldn't amount to half of three billion dollars. Getting to be able to raise half of the money would be if Brucy Kings interfered. He doubted Brucy would get involved in the matter.

Senior Grichy, Lois, and Tom rounded Rieka, hurling abusive words at her. “We are in a big mess! You are a curse! You've ruined the Fullams!”

Managing to be on her knees, Rieka pleaded. “Please help me. I didn't do it. Mother, there's a mix-up somewhere.”

“Mix-up? Are you trying to say Silas accused you falsely? You liar!” Senior Fullams roared.

Tom went to Silas. “Please spare her! Liam Grichy and I are best of friends.”

“That must be a joke of the century!” Silas said coldly. “Do you know Rieka Fullams is the reason why your friend's family is now bankrupt? All because she is Brucy Kings’ personal assistant.”

“What… So all this was a conspiracy?”

“Yeah right,” Silas replied. “Now that you are aware, you'll pay for your transgressions and no one will be able to save you. It's the three billion dollars or your life, Rieka.”

“You are heartless! I am not responsible for the calamity that befell the Grichys.” Rieka pleaded, crying hard.

“It doesn't matter, get hold of her. Let's leave.”

“Alright, sir!”

One muscular man dragged Rieka out of the house.

The Fullams watched in dismay as Grichy and his men left with Rieka. There was nothing they could do to Silas Grichy.

At the venue for the auction.

“Take her to the lounge behind the hall,” Silas ordered.

“General Silas, please let me go. I am innocent.”

“I didn't do anything to your family.”

“Please let me go…”

Wailing hard, Rieka kept pleading for mercy. She was more heartbroken that her family couldn't save her instead they believed all Silas said.

Silas yanks her hair, and she winces in pain. He placed a knife around her neck.

Silas started with a harsh tone. “Five years ago, someone was supposed to be tortured to death but you helped him escape.”

“Where is he now?”

“What is his name?”

“Where does he live?”

“I-I have no idea. Since that night, I have never seen him again.” Rieka spoke fearfully.

Silas slashed the knife on her chest, tearing her dress and blood gushed out instantly.

“Ouch!” Rieka screamed. When he freed her hair from his hand, Rieka stiffened in pain.

“Speak.” He yelled. “I can see you are proving stubborn.” Turning to one of the men, he said, “Get me a bucket of water.”

Silas dipped Rieka's face into the bucket of water, while she struggled for her dear life.

After about three minutes, he continued.

“Who did you save? How can I reach him?”

“I…I have no idea. That night, men went in search of him and returned with the report that they killed him.”

“That's nonsense! He survived. What is your connection with Brucy Kings? Why did he make us go bankrupt because of you?”

“I promise, I have no connection with Brucy Kings, it's work and nothing more.”

He slashed and dipped her head into the bucket of water again.

Raising her head, water rushed out of her nose and mouth, and the cut on her chest got deeper making the blood gush out at a fast pace.

Silas slapped her hard, making her face red instantly. “Where is he? When was the last time you saw him?”

Rieka was speechless and she said nothing but the truth. She was told he was killed by the men who went in search of him.

“I had no idea he survived. I haven't seen him for the past five years. I can't even tell how he looks. I don't know where he lives. I am telling the truth, believe me. Please spare my life… Henceforth, I promise to stay away from your family.”
