Chapter Four

Damien had come downstairs with the intention of getting Alex a means of transportation since he was sure that the young man did not have any.

But when he got to the first floor, he saw people surrounding Alex and immediately, he was startled.

Martha, who was not only beautiful but very sexy, saw her boss approaching and immediately stopped yelling.

"Have you all gone deaf? I asked a question." Damien repeated himself angrily.

The security guard looked at Martha and his dejected face showed that she was not going to say a word. Having had a crush on her for a long time, he saw this as an opportunity to defend her and prove his worth.

"Sir, this man right here is a criminal," he said loudly. "He is a beggar who ran in here and caused so much commotion."

"How about you picking a side? Is he a beggar or a criminal?" Damien asked the man.

"Sir, he is a..." The man went ahead to speak still.

"I don't care about your sentence. What I care to tell you is that you are fired," Damien spoke sternly, without batting an eyelid.

"What?" The man asked in confusion.

"The man that you called a beggar and a criminal is Mr. Alex Albert, the heir to Azure Consortium," Damien said proudly and the resounding gasp sounds he got from the people surrounding him made him even more excited.

"Mr. Albert, I am so sorry." Out of fear of being fired, Martha apologize immediately.

"I deeply apologize for the way I treated you. Allow me to make it up to you. I don't mind doing anything you want," Martha said, unbuttoning her shirt till her cleavage was showing and she angled her ass to face Alex. "Absolutely anything," she said with a seductive smile.

It did nothing more than anger Alex. She wanted to use her sexy body to climb up in the company. He was immediately reminded of his ex-girlfriend and how she sold her body to an old man just for money.

His face squeezed in disgust, "Mrs. Martha, it's with great pleasure that I inform you that you have been stripped of your managerial position. From now on, you are to work as a receptionist in this company. Either accept the offer or turn in your resignation letter by tomorrow," Alex spoke sternly and walked away.

Mr. Damien followed him with a smile on his face.

As soon as Alex was away from the scene, he received a call.

"Hey, Dustin," he said immediately as he picked up the call.

"Alex, where the hell are you? I hope you haven't forgotten about the basketball training we have this afternoon?" Dustin reminded him.

"Oh shit," Alex sighed. Somehow it had skipped his memory. "I'm on my way right now," he said and ended the call

"Is everything okay boss?" Damien asked him.

"Yeah. I just need to get to college right now."

"Alright. Come, I'll drive you," Damien said as he brought out his car keys and Alex saw that he was approaching the latest Mercedes in the market.

"Nice," he grinned as he got into the car and Damien drove him to school.

"Hey," Alex greeted his friends when he reached the court.

"Hey man," Dustin nodded at him and Jayden clasped his hand with Alex's.

"What's up man?" He asked

"Yo, sorry I'm late bro."

"You know, I have been meaning to ask. What happened between you and Susan?" Dustin asked.

Immediately, Alex felt a strange feeling wash over him. He couldn't believe that he still hasn't told anyone about having broken up with Susan.

He was stunned to notice that they all thought he was still dating the girl when he wasn't. As he kept thinking, he saw Susan walking into the basketball court in the arms of the school bully with her two despicable friends, wearing her cheer team outfit.

Alex snorted. He couldn't believe that he had ever loved a girl like Susan. He felt awful and disgusted as he looked at her.

"Hey Albert," the bully who went by the name Nathan yelled at Alex when he saw him. He had a big grin on his face because he was holding hands with his girlfriend.

"So, you don't only have no social skills, I can see you don't know how to keep a woman. But let's face it, how can you keep a woman when you are as broke as hell?" He taunted, hoping to get a reaction from him.

Alex ignored him and slowly moved his gaze from him to Susan. He saw that her head was held low. She couldn't even meet his eyes. He knew that it was simply because she didn't want him to disclose her secret of being with an old man just for money.

But he did not really care. After all, both of them were scumbags. Nathan was being cheated on because Susan had a sugar daddy that he could swear he did not know about. For how terrible both of them were, they deserved each other.

Nathan mistook Alex's silence for fear and bragged some more.

"I bet you don't even know how to satisfy this woman," Nathan taunted.

"Hey, don't talk to our friend like that!" Dustin said, standing up for his friend.

"And if we do, what are you going to do about it jackass?" One of Susan's friends asked.

"I mean, it's not as if we are lying here. Alex is nothing but a pile of garbage that should be thrown away with immediate effect. For the simple fact that my friend, Susan, stayed with him for this long only shows that she was doing him a favor." The other joined in.

"Exactly. Alex is a ridiculous human being. A broke, uncultured and low opinionated person. He doesn't deserve someone as classy as our friend, Susan."

"Come on Alex," Nathan started poking at Alex.

"Are you going to allow a bunch of girls to talk to you like that, you good for nothing pig?"

Alex kept mute. He chose to say nothing because he knew very well that if he did, Nathan would call his guys for a fight and just the three of them couldn't beat up the entire basketball team.

Plus, he did not even want his friends to be involved in a fight because of him.

"Hey Nathan!" Alex heard the voice of a woman resounding behind him.

Alex turned to meet Natalie. Their college's tall, beautiful, intelligent and very smart cheerleader.

"Stop this nonsense immediately," she said once she reached where Nathan was standing.

Nathan took one look at Natalie and knew that she was one of the students no one dared cross because of her influence in the society.

He took one look at Alex, snorted and left. As soon as he walked out, the coach walked in.

"Hey," Natalie said to Alex.

"Hey, thank you for that."

"Ah, don't sweat it," she said. "Hey, I'm inviting you to my birthday party. It's tomorrow evening," she said with a wide smile. Waiting for a response from Alex.
