Nevertheless, Gray is going to give his wife the benefit of the doubt. Wasn't she crying when he had to leave the city and go back to the army? They were just freshly married, barely a year.

She was worried about what he would eat and how he would survive in the harsh weather of the war zone. She didn't know that he is the mars! The greatest soldier the country has ever had… surely she still loves him, she might just be in a bad mood and that's why she sounded pissed off on the phone.

He grabs his walking stick and checks his old wallet. He has a few coins left, surely it will be enough to take him to the restaurant..

He manages to stop another taxi to take him to the restaurant to meet his wife.

When he gets to the flashy restaurant in the heart of the city, he feels intimidated. He can't see, but he can hear the expensive cars drive past him. This is the elite part of the city.

He manages to go to the door and after the security makes sure that he truly is here to meet someone, they allow him in.

“You better not be a beggar!” The man snarls. “I will throw you out of this place and call the police!”

“Thank you, sir,” Gray bows as he goes into the place, one of the waiter is kind enough to take him to a table.

He sits down at his assigned table and starts to wait for his wife, Wendy. He finds himself smiling as he thinks of her and her beautiful, angelic face. It's a shame he can't see it anymore….

He has missed his very beautiful wife. She is the reason why he has come back home to gather his senses together, after the betrayal from the government.

Surely he can rest his tired head against her shoulder. She will comfort him and tell him that everything will be okay…

He casually looks up and breath leaves his nose as soon as he smells a sweet perfume. Wendy is here. He can't stop smiling, even though he can't see her, but something is different about her. She smells more... Expensive…

He used to give her all his money to buy all the nicest makeup and the latest dresses and shoes, but with what she is wearing right now, he knows that he can't afford to have bought that for her.

Even her perfume is different,

like she has bathed in the most sacred rivers of the heavens. He can tell that she is glistening, like thousands of diamonds.

“Wendy…?” He stands up slowly, but because of his blindness, he can't see or touch her. He finds himself collapsing against his walking stick.

That catches the eyes of Wendy and she is already shocked enough to see him in such a shameful stage with old smelly clothes, but seeing that he is lame makes her despise him even more.

“Are you kidding me, Gray?! Did you just walk out of a sewer?” She hiss at him. “Wait, are you blind?! You can't see?!”

Gray frowns with confusion. “Wendy, I don't think that's the right way to speak to your husband. Especially since we haven't seen each other for years!”

She looks around sharply, her face turning red. She doesn't want these elite people to know that she is married to such a poor and shabby man. He is blind too?!

She sits down quickly puts on her designer dark shades, to conceal her identity.

Gary can't stop smiling, he misses his pretty wife.

He reaches out to touch her face, but Wendy slaps his hand away. How dare he try to touch her with his filthy hands.

At this point, it's obvious to Gray that something is wrong with his wife. She didn't fall into his arms and hug him, she didn't kiss him, she didn't tell him that she has made his favorite pot roast, and most importantly, she has not told him why some strange people are at their house.

“Wendy, you don't seem too happy.” Gray sighs. “But that's okay. We will go home and have some wine, then we can talk about everything…”

“Why aren't you in the capital?” She asks him with a glare.

“Excuse me?”

“The president is honoring ten soldiers that fought well to end the war. Why are you here? Why aren't you being honored by the president?”

Gray sighs and looks at the ground. “I'm sorry, Wendy, I tried my best, but… I am sorry that I didn't make it to the honor list. In Fact, the military discharged me because of my eyes. An explosion in the field destroyed my retinas, you see–”

Wendy sighs as she slaps her hand over her face. She can't believe that five years ago, she agreed to marry this loser!

Her family told her that he is good for nothing, but she was in love with the fine looking man that was just drafted into the army.

Her maternal grandfather loved Gray Lance so badly that he wanted him to become his grandson in-law. Her mother and brother warned her, she wished that she listened.

But it's not too late to change that now. She is going to cut off any connection she has with this loser.

She slaps an envelope on the table and smirks when she sees the confusion grow on his face. He heard it, but he doesn't know what she has done.

“I want a divorce from you!”
