Chapter 33. The Mysterious Purple Tree

Noah and Talon finally arrived in front of the iron gate of Deer Park. The gate looked tightly closed with an iron chain around it, plus a large padlock closing the place.

"Is this the only way in?" asked Noah.

Talon cleared his throat. The two stood in a line staring straight ahead, their faces still covered by gas masks preventing their noses from breathing in the mist.

"If the door is closed, how do you solve this case?" asked Noah, looking to the side.

"Even if the door is opened, we can't fight it," replied Talon.

"Why?" asked Noah.

"One of my men was on patrol duty the other day, along with two police officers. They walked around the park to locate the source of the fog, but they found something surprising," Talon explained.

Noah was silent, letting Talon finish his story and then he would give his own conclusion.

Talon fell silent again. Noah's eyes saw Talon's hands shaking, even though the air wasn't cold like winter.

"What?" asked Noah, emphasizing.
