“Thank you for coming, Roman,” Lilian said. Roman clenched his jaws and nodded. He had just stepped out of the elevator and was already greeted by Lilain who seemed to have been waiting for him eagerly. Why wouldn’t she? He had accepted to give her back the company—well, not everything. Just a minority stake to make sure that they didn’t try anything funny in the future. Just like last time. “Right this way, the lawyers are waiting for you,” she said, pointing towards the familiar office. Roman walked through the hallway in silence as they made their way towards his office. Ever since Donald had died, he had become the new CEO of the company. That was because he had inherited all of Donald’s properties as well. He wondered why Florence would let him do something like that. This was his office now. The office where he had been once fired in, was now his. As he arrived at the door, he swung it open and stepped in. There were already people inside; two lawyers with Florence and Dav
“How is this even possible?” Roman asked as he stared at the bowl of soup. Ben could only chuckle. He was by the sink now dressed in a blue apron as he did the dishes. Florence, who was standing at the counter with Roman, laughed at his words. Ben had made dinner, and the soup was supposedly dessert. Roman hadn’t been convinced at first that the soup would be okay for dessert. He claimed they could have had something better like ice cream, but Ben had been determined to let them try his chicken soup. And it ended up being stellar. “You underestimate my qualities, Roman,” Ben said. Roman took another spoonful of soup before he looked up at him. “I think I do.”Florence and Ben ended up laughing. As she laughed, she recalled that she hadn’t had the opportunity to talk to Roman about what she had intended to do. When she had tried to talk to him, Lilian and David had come in and ruined everything, and after that, she hadn’t quite found the time to tell him. Maybe now was a good tim
“What?” Roman was trying his best to remain calm but he couldn’t. The news that Florence broke made it difficult for him to maintain his cool. Florence could feel the cold hands of guilt grip her. They had bonded during the little time they had spent together. It was no surprise that they ended up having feelings for each other. But those feelings couldn’t be acted on. She knew that Roman wasn’t going to have the time to spend with her. After what he had been through with Lilian, she knew it would be difficult for him to get married again. And that didn’t suit her. She wanted a family of her own, and kids too, but Roman wouldn’t be intrigued by that. And also, she needed some time alone to process her thoughts. She had spent half of her life trying to impress her father with the hope that she would save him one day. But he had ended up using her, and the only way they could stop him was to kill him. She was the only person in her family now and had nothing left here in New York. T
“Hello, Ben,” Oliver Debaucher greeted with a smile. Ben clenched his jaws as he realized that it was Oliver Debaucher. He wasn’t a fan of his because of the kind of work he did. He was a thief. A professional one, and he had lured Roman into it. Not once but twice. “What do you want?” Ben asked coldly. Oliver Debaucher chuckled with his hands behind him. He had his hands behind him as he stood before Ben all dressed in a black turtleneck sweater and a pot of gray trousers. His blonde hair was combed neatly and his eyes glowed as he smiled. He was gorgeous but that didn’t move Ben at all. “I’m here to see Roman. I’m sure he must have told you we were coming?” Oliver said. Ben clenched his jaws once more. He was right. He called Roman earlier this morning and told him that it was an emergency and he would be in New York shortly. But it was evening now, and the sun was setting just over the horizon. Ben didn’t want their evening to be ruined by him. It had already been ruined whe
Miami, Florida. 7:12 pm. Roman Lacroix stepped out of the jet with Oliver Debaucher. He was now dressed in a black suit and his once ruffled hair was combed neatly. Oliver beside him was dressed in a suit also, but in a brown suit and a pair of black shades. In his hand was a black duffel bag which was filled with weapons. They headed out of the hangar towards a familiar black van that was waiting for them outside. When they arrived, Daimonte came forward all dressed in black. “Roman Lacroix. Good to see you again,” Daimonte shaking his hand. Roman smiled at him and shook his back. “I heard what happened to Susan. Don’t worry. We’re going to get her back.”Daimonte grinned at that. “Now you’re here I have no worries.”Oliver rolled his eyes in annoyance. “Get a room you two.” Roman looked at him confused. Daimonte chuckled at that. “I don’t get it.”“It’s an inside joke. I’m gay.”“Oh.”Daimonte smiled and patted him on the shoulder. They got into the van and Daimonte sped o
“Bring her in here,” Frederic El Mataso ordered. The door opened and Susan was dragged into the room. Her hair was ruffled and her face was drenched in sweat. She had just spent the whole day in the basement and now she was about to be given a death sentence. The room had a poker table with men seated around it, Frederic included. Frederic El Mataso was a plump man with a weird mustache and heavy eyebrows. He was dressed in a black suit with his bloated stomach trying its best to stay in the white undershirt he wore. There was only one thing that caught Susan’s eye. It was his ring. The ring was glowing as he rubbed his chin with a grin on his face. “Bring her closer,” he ordered. The guard dragged her on the floor as he brought her to him. Susan was kneeling before Frederic now who was still rubbing his chin as he stared down at her. “You piece of shit! You think you’re going to get away with this?” She yelled. “She’s a feisty one,” he said to the men at the table who chuckle
Frederic El Mataso wasn’t fazed by the sight of the guns being pointed at him. He had been through much more than that. What he was worried about was the men at the table with him who were already terrified at the sight of the men. “If you don’t want to end up like the guards there, I strongly suggest you all leave,” Roman ordered. The men looked at each other before running out of the room. The door shut behind them and they were left alone in the room with Susan and Frederic. Susan rose to her feet and went immediately to Oliver, pulling him into a hug. Roman, on the other hand, lowered his gun and walked to the poker table, sitting on the other end of it. He had one of his guns pointed at Frederic who still didn’t seem fazed by this. “I know who you are,” Frederic said. “You’re the famous Roman Lacroix.”Roman smiled at that. Sometimes, he forgot that he was known throughout the country. First, it was the Russian mafia leader, now it was El Mataso. He was making a name for him
Brooklyn, New York. 6:45 AM.“Well, that was fun,” Oliver said as they stepped off the jet. They were greeted by the morning’s golden light which washed upon them as they walked out of the hanger. Oliver still had the black duffel bag in his hand but it didn’t contain ammunition anymore. It was money. A whole lot of it. They had cashed out on all their artifacts last night and made their way with the excess of it. Roman was calm as he walked out of the hangar. He was dressed in a new black suit and his hair was combed neatly. He looked all refreshed. Last night was hilarious, and it was hard to believe that it had happened. They had made their way with one of the most expensive jewels ever, and all Roman did was blackmail him. They couldn’t say that Frederic El Mataso wouldn’t come after them but who cared? They had hit the jackpot again. Roman had the ring in his hand and he stared at it as he made his way towards the crew. At a distance, a black Cadillac was heading towards them
