He couldn’t even begin to explain what had just happened to him. His life was changing right in front of his eyes. He was apparently the owner of a very well-to-do company. And his account was clouded with cash. The money he could use to do about anything. And he was the best customer at the bank. Making him a millionaire.
After the meeting, he went to his office, talking to Charity and listening to what she had to say about everything. She explained more to him about what happened and why he was only finding about this now. She told him a bit about the company and gave him some files he can go through that will help him better manage the company.
He had no experience whatsoever about running the company. And that scared the crap out of him that he might fail his grandfather-in-law.
Mr. Noah trusted him that much to give him the company. To leave him something that will end up changing his life for the best. That was changing his life.
“Charity, I do not know what I’m doing here? I don’t even know why he would think I have what it takes for me to run the company. I didn’t even finish my studies,” he complained.
“That is what makes you the best one to run it. You have seen and experienced pain. You are hungry to make this work. So that you don’t ever go back to suffering. That makes you more than capable of running this place. He trusted this in your hand and I trust you will do great. Now, it’s time up. They will be locking the place up soon,” she sipped on her coffee.
“Thank you for being here. For helping me with this. Now we have those British investors to make the new wine. You need to think of a name for it,” he spoke as he packed up the files in the briefcase she gave him earlier. “I have somewhere I need to be as soon as possible. Do you mind driving me there?” He asked her.
“Sir, you have enough cars to take one. Who do you think is the owner of those cars outside? This is your company and half of the cars you saw outside are for the company. Just take one. And judging by your behavior, I bet you don’t even know about the mansion,” she spoke as he locked his office.
He turned to her. Can this day get any better than this? A mansion? The only mansion he knew was the one the Noah family was leaving in. The house he has been working at ever since Mr. Noah died.
“What mansion are you talking about?” He asked her.
“The one the family leaves in. Surely they have informed you about that. Didn’t a lawyer or someone come home? Mr. Noah told me about it. I even have the paper you need to prove it,” she spoke — looking through the bag. “Dammit, I think I left them home,” she spoke.
The mansion was his. And the all family must have known about it. Why didn’t they tell him about it? How could they hide such a thing from him? And did Eliza know as well? She should have mentioned something about it. She had been seeing him suffer each and every day in that mansion. And yet she said nothing about it.
Was saving her necessary? She had allowed her family treating him like trash for so long. And yet she never defended him. Not even once. And now she has even signed the divorce papers and asking him to do the same.
“It’s cool. You can come with them tomorrow. Have a good night and I will see you tomorrow morning. We do have a meeting with the production people if I’m not mistaken,” he opened a door to a black SUV.
“Yes, sir. And have a good night as well,” she entered her car and took off.
He was left alone outside. Looking at the place. Admiring its beaut and still thinking how this all thing was possible. He took out the locket and opened it. He looked at a picture of an old man. With gray hair all over his head.
“You sneak old man. You did it. You helped me even when I’m not related to you in any way. Thank you, sir. I will not forget this,” he spoke and entered the car. And the words Mr. Noah used to tell him echoed in his head. We never give up on family.
He looked around the car. Smelling the scent of the car. His first car. From a bike to a car.
But how can he just let it go? How will be over look everything they did to him. Everything they have been doing to him. Just two nights ago, they told him to work the all night after the party. She didn’t even mention him as part of the family during her birthday party. How was he going to overlook that and just move on?
He drove as fast as he could. Trying to call Eliza, but the woman was not picking up her phone. He tried again, but still nothing.
“Come on, woman. Just a little longer,” he said as he increased the car speed.
After a few minutes, he reached the company. And he saw the car that brought Eliza to work. And other cars that belonged to the Noah family.
He parked the car and went running inside the office. Then, as he was about to enter the meeting room, someone called him behind.
He turned, and saw it was Jackson. “What are you doing here? Do you need money for you new bike?” He smirked at the man.
“I don’t have time for this right now. But I will get back to you for killing Vea,” he told him assuredly, and walked inside the room.
Eliza was standing before everyone. All the Noah family was present. Even grandmother and his mother-in-law. They all just glared at him.
“I told you I will find a way,” he sighed as he caught his breath. Smiling at his wife.
He walked to the front where his wife stood. Everyone was still glaring at him.“Eliza, I told you I will find a way. You don’t have to divorce me to get your company on track,” he said for only her to hear.“Trevor, I don’t have time for this. What do you want? You know what, just leave. We will talk about this behavior at home. And get ready for all of them,” she spoke.“Listen to me, Eliza. I know you didn’t want to sign those divorce papers and I’m not going to sign them. Just give me a chance to say what I have. But those shares will be sold...”“What the hell is he doing here? I thought this is only for family and interested members. What does he think he is doing here? Maria?” A man spoke, looking at Trevor’s mother-in-law.He was Jackson’s father. He looked exactly like his son. very grumpy. With short gray hair. And he wore an expensive suit that seemed to choke him.“I’m so sorry for this, sir. He was just leaving,” Eliza spoke and took Trevor by the hand. “You need to leave
The all way home he was silent. Allowing her to suffer with questions to what was happening. The woman had no idea to what was happening at all. How her husband happened to get so much money to buy her shares of the company to save her company. He had no money to get a new expensive SUV. Just this morning he was taking a taxi to go out. And now he appeares with money enough to buy her shares. She was drowning in questions and he was not giving her a chance to ask any of them. She couldn’t even think of asking him what was happening because she had no idea where to start. Other than wait as he told her to. For everyone to get to the mansion that was apparently his according to Charity. Half way home, his phone rang. He took it from the holder and Charity was calling. “Yes Charity,” he answered. “I have the papers you needed for the mansion. Should I sent to your email or you will get them tomorrow?” She asked. “You should send them. I need them. And you called at the right time a
They sat in silence in the living room. Trevor still sitting on grandmother’s couch. Everyone stood. Except for the old woman and his mother-in-law.Eliza was still looking at the phone. Trying to see a fault in what he just showed her. She looked at him a couple of times. Opening her mouth and closing it again. She had nothing to say about the whole thing. She looked at her family members, but they all tried to look away from her.“Why would I lie about such a huge thing, Eliza? You have seen it for yourself and, in case you are in denial, they can’t even look at you right now. They have nothing to say to you because they know what I’m saying is the truth,” he spoke walking to her. “I know this is all a lot to handle. It was as well for me. But we can’t run away from reality. All we can do is embrace every moment of it. Life is too short to worry about crap,” he spoke, resting his hands on her shoulders. She looked up at him, and he let her go. She walked to her grandmother and sat n
The night He just had was the best night of his life. Still not able to believe he was rich now. Able to provide for his wife and for himself. Get back at the people that looked down on him.But he was still trying to think if what he was doing was the right thing. Allowing the people that wanted him dead to be left with him on the same roof. They can easily kill him. Poison him or something else. Though you never give up on family, he was thinking twice about his decision to allow the Noah family to leave under the same roof as him.But what was he going to do about it? This was the only way to prove to his wife that he was still good. That money didn’t change him. It was the only way to prove to himself that he was still good.“Sir, this responsibility is way too much for me to carry. What am I going to do now? You know your family better than I could have. I love you and I want to do the right thing. But that right thing might be my death,” I spoke, looking at Mr. Noah.He just got
He looked at the note that sat on the table. Trying to think about what it all meant and why they sent it to him. If it was not addressed to him, then maybe he would have thought the mailman made a mistake. But the note was addressed to Trevor. He sighed and got up, walking around the room. Thinking if he had any enemies in mind. The only people he could think of that would want to get to him were his in-laws. They all hurt him for the stance he just pulled the other night. He took the thing they called home. They have no say around the house because of him. They never liked him in the first place, and now that he has money and he was treating them the way they deserved, their hurt grew. Before he could pick up his phone, someone entered the office.“Eliza,” he spoke as he turned around. “What do I owe this pleasure?” He asked and gestured for her to take her sit.She began as she sat, “I just wanted to make something clear...”“So, you came all the way from work to make that somethin
They talked for some more time in his office. Him telling her and asking her time and time again for her to tell him about the people that wanted him dead. But the woman refused to review their identity. All he could make of it, and the people he could think of, were his in-laws. After what he just did to them, they were out to get him and will do about anything for them to get their hands on his money and everything he had now.“Listen, Natalia, I appreciate what you are doing here. But they wanted me dead because they didn’t want me to attend the party. Because of what I have now. So, they are not expecting me there. And I need to be aware of them when I show my face there. Just tell me who they are?” He pleaded. But the woman just looked at him and smiled. Took another sip from the wine and slapped the bottle on the table. “We talked about being confidential. You almost refused to take this offer because I betrayed the people that hired me first. And besides, what will be the fun o
He looked at her as he repeated the question, “what do you mean by the one I’m not expecting will be the one that hired you?”She smiled, looking at him, “nothing. I was just telling you to keep an eye open. And speaking of eye opening, your wife has been looking at us all this time. Actually, a lot of people are looking at us. I think she is jealous,” she spoke and tapped his shoulder as she walked past him.He stood there, thinking about what she just said to him. People were canning, that is one thing he knew. But what she said about him trusting people was something he really needed to put into consideration. What if as Natalia said the one his not expecting to hire Natalia was the one that hired her? That will give the person way too many chances to eat away with everything because he or she is not on the suspect list.Just as he turned to Natalia, Eliza called. “Trevor, can you come here please,” she gestured to where she was standing with three men that looked to be in their ea
He looked at her with rage burning in his eyes when he asked again, “what the hell are you doing here, Natalia? I thought I made it clear that you need to leave this place,” he spoke and finally allowed Eliza to get out of his grip.“Well, I thought about everything. Your offer of me allowing you to be safe,” she spoke and walked past him, then locked the door and put the keys in her pants. “And I reached a conclusion dear,” she spoke and looked at Eliza. “I’m sorry that things didn’t work out between us, but it was nice doing business with you,” she spoke.Trevor stood there dumbfounded, trying to grasp what she was saying. What does she mean it was nice doing business with her? Was she saying that to him or to his wife? And if to his wife, when did Eliza and Natalia meet and began doing business together?“Oh, you didn’t tell him? Whoops,” she spoke and slapped a hand on her mouth. “I thought that is the reason his dragging you up here like a mad person,” she smiled at Eliza.“Natal
