Chapter 47

Jack stepped out of the car and made his way towards the entrance, his step echoing slightly as he scanned the room. It felt strange, surreal even, to be there. His father’s invitation had come out of nowhere, something he never anticipated. He clenched his jaw at the thought of meeting his father’s children from his other family. The siblings he had heard about and never got to meet. Even though he felt a mix of resentment and disappointment, he had agreed to come, not coming with some kind of disrespect to his father; he also thought this was a chance to clear the hatred in his mind for them after what their mother did to him, to comfort some old, buried emotions.

As he crossed the lobby, the hotel staff members approached him with a warm smile and his head bowed. “welcome. Young master, Jack. This way, please,” he said smoothly, gesturing towards the road to his right.
