chapter 3 : vampire ? , part 1

"Where are you going, young man?" Rick spoke in a loud and harsh voice as he closed the car door behind him.

Michael looked at his father with frustration. Rick was a strict and controlling man, likely a police officer or at least that's what Michael believed. Rick had a lot of problems at work and took out his anger at his family. He didn't care about Michael's feelings or opinions and always tried to control his life.

"Dad! I'm going to meet my fri...." Michael tried to answer, but Rick didn't wait for him to finish. He quickly entered the house, closing the door behind him.

Michael sighed in even greater frustration. He knew there was no point in trying to talk to his father; he wouldn't listen. He felt lonely and sad, wishing he had a better family.

Suddenly, he felt something pressing on his shoulder. He turned around and found a girl smiling at him affectionately. This girl was Julia, Michael's younger sister. Julia was a beautiful girl with long black hair and gray eyes. She resembled her mother a lot.

Julia was the only one who understood Michael and supported him in everything.

"Don't worry about him. He's just having some work problems, that's why he's like this today!" Julia said in a gentle voice, trying to calm Michael.

"Oh, I see. Anyway, how was your day, sis?" Michael asked with a slightly cheerful voice. He loved his sister very much, and her smile always made him happy.

Julia also smiled and said, "It was like any other day. By the way, where are you going?"

Michael answered, "I'm going to visit Max..." He looked at his imaginary watch and jokingly said, "Sorry, but I have to go now. I'm running late."

"Be careful out there. This city isn't safe," Julia said with concern.

Max nodded and then left.

"Goodbye," Julia said with a smile, looking at Michael who left on his motorcycle and entered the house.

After bidding farewell to Julia, Michael arrived at Max's house after a fifteen-minute ride on his motorcycle. Max's house was simple and modest, located in a poor and crowded neighborhood. Max lived there with his widowed mother, who worked as a maid in a wealthy house. Max's mother was a kind and loving woman, and she loved Michael as her own son.

Michael rang the doorbell and waited for a moment. The door opened, revealing a woman in her mid-forties with short brown hair and green eyes. It was Sophie, Max's mother. She smiled when she saw Michael and said, "Hello, Michael. How are you?"

"Hello, Aunt Sophie. I'm fine, thank you. Can I see Max?" Michael asked eagerly.

"Oh, I'm sorry, dear, but Max isn't home. He left in the morning and hasn't returned yet," Sophie replied.

"Really? That's strange. Do you know where he went?" Michael asked in surprise.

"I think he's working at that bar ..." Sophie answered.

Meanwhile, Max was running quickly through the dark and narrow streets, clutching a small bag in his hand. He could hear hurried footsteps and heavy breathing behind him. He looked back in fear and saw two men wearing black clothes and sunglasses chasing him.

"Damn, what did I get myself into?"

Max remembered how he was on his way home after finishing work at the bar.

He knew Denton City became a dangerous place at night, but he needed the money to pay for his rundown apartment and feed himself and his mother. He didn't like this life, but he didn't have any other choice. He hoped to find an opportunity to escape poverty. He worked three part-time jobs, and the bar job was part of that.

He was on his way home.

In a corner, Max saw a luxurious sports car parked with a tall man next to it, pale skin and blond hair. He was embracing a beautiful girl with black hair and blue eyes. The girl appeared scared and weak, while the man passionately kissed her neck.

Max's eyes lit up with curiosity when he saw the red sports car. He had a great love and curiosity for sports cars. He decided to approach it and examine it carefully.

But as Max got closer, he saw something unexpected. He saw the man sinking his fangs into the girl's neck and greedily drinking her blood. He heard a muffled scream from the girl, followed by complete silence. Max felt horror and shock, realizing that the man was not human.

Before he could do anything, the vampire turned towards him, giving him a sharp look. His eyes were red, radiating anger and hunger. He was angry that someone interrupted his meal.

"You've seen what you shouldn't have seen," said the vampire in a cold voice. "Don't think you'll get out of this alive."

The vampire gestured with his fingers, and two men appeared behind him. They had a matching tattoo on their necks—a blue pill-shaped symbol that identified them as members of the Blue Pill Gang. They worked for the vampire who pointed at Max and said in a cold voice, "You both know what you have to do. Don't let him escape."

Max had started running with all his strength, trying to find a way out of this predicament. But the men were faster and more cunning than him. They knew every corner and alley of the city, and how to cut off his path.

Max couldn't ask for help from anyone. People were afraid to get involved in dangerous matters. There weren't many people around at this late hour, and even if there were, no one would dare interfere with the Blue Pill Gang's affairs.

And so, the chase continued for several minutes until Max reached the end of the street. In front of him stood a tall wall he couldn't climb. The two men approached him slowly from behind, laughing mockingly.

"Where will you go now?" one of them said. "There's no escape from death for you."

"Do you think we'll spare you?" the other one said. "You've seen something you shouldn't have seen. And now you'll pay the price."

The men pulled out their guns and aimed them at Max. He felt despair and fear, closing his eyes. He knew this was the end. Tears streamed down his face as he thought of his mother, whose heart would break after his death.

But in that moment, he heard a familiar voice. "Open your eyes..."

Then he heard a loud crash and felt a tremor beneath his feet. He opened his eyes and saw something unbelievable. There was another person in the place, riding a fast motorcycle and striking the men with it. He was wearing jeans, a leather jacket, had short black hair, and a light beard. This person was Michael.

"Quick, let's go..." Michael said, grabbing Max's hand and pulling him onto the bike. They sped away. One of the Blue Pill Gang members raised his gun and was about to pull the trigger, but his companion grabbed the gun and brought him down

"The situation is bad. The drug agency and the police are active these days. The sound of a gun will surely attract unwanted attention!" Michael exclaimed.

The other man nodded his head and returned the gun to his jacket, asking with an ugly expression, "So how do we deal with this situation!?"

"What do you mean by 'this situation'!?" the other man asked with a mocking smile on his face.

"That brat ! , is there any witness that we didn't kill him!?"

Leo, the man, said. "You're playing with fire, my friend. If George finds out..."

He didn't finish his sentence, but the meaning behind his words was clear. Leo shook his head and said,

"I know, I know. Even if that vampire is from a low class, he's still one of the vampires. Anyway, we can only kill that boy when we encounter him again. Let's clean ourselves up and get out of here."

The two of them left the alley, unaware of the man standing on top of a building. George murmured with a mocking smile,

"These dogs have gotten out of control. It seems I need to find new dogs." He looked towards the place where Michael and Max had departed, his red eyes glowing in the darkness. "But first, I need to get rid of these rats..."

Whoosh!

He disappeared as if he had never been there. He didn't vanish but rather moved at an extremely fast speed.

On the other side, Michael stopped after getting a little distance from the Blue Pill Gang members. "Why did you stop!?" Max asked, looking at his friend with gratitude. He hadn't expected Michael to appear and save him from the clutches of death. He was grateful and also worried about his non-blood-related brother.

Michael got off the bike and said as he examined it, "It seems the bike got damaged when you collided with those men!" He added while moving the bike, "Anyway, help me hide the bike. I'll come back to it later. We're still in danger now..."

Max nodded and helped him. Michael looked at his pale-faced friend and said, "And Max!! I expect a detailed explanation of what's happening here... It's better to start talking now!"

Max froze in place for a moment, sighed, and said perplexed, "Where do I start..."

Michael frowned and angrily interrupted, "Just tell me everything, you fool! Why were those men chasing you!? Why was your phone off!? Your mother is worried sick about you!"

Max answered while looking around anxiously, fearing that the two men might appear. "I was at work, and as for my phone, it just ran out of battery..."

"So why were those men chasing you!?" Michael questioned sharply, his brows furrowed.

"I don't know. When I was on my way home, those men started chasing me..." Max lied, not wanting to tell Michael about what he had seen for fear of being mocked by his friend. After all, vampires were just fiction. Even he believed that until half an hour ago. But now, things are different.

A deep frown formed on Michael's face, causing him to stop walking.

He lifted his head and looked at Max with narrowed eyes. "Something tells me you're not telling the truth!? His intuition told him that Max was hiding something. "And why are you working a night job? Aren't the other jobs enough!?"

Max kept his head low, looking at the ground with clouded eyes. What he had witnessed today was far from ordinary. "Those red eyes and long fangs, not to mention he was drinking blood. That man was definitely a vampire! Damn, I never expected them to actually exist!"

"Max, Max!!!..."

Max snapped out of his thoughts at the sound of Michael's call. "No, you're definitely hiding something!" Michael exclaimed.

Max remained silent for a while before finally opening his mouth, his tone filled with mystery. "It's better that you don't know about this matter!"

Just as Michael was about to speak, he felt a hair on his body stand on end, sending shivers down his spine. He halted his movement and started looking around cautiously. His senses screamed at him to flee from the place.

Max was on the verge of questioning Michael about his sudden behavior, but he swallowed his words in fear when he heard a familiar and unwelcome voice.

"Good senses, you remind me of a ruthless wolf..."
