chapter 4 : vampire !? , part 2

Michael felt his senses warning him about the person in front of him.

George ignored his goal and stared at Michael. The intensity of this person startled him , he could only connect Michael's sharp senses with one of the werewolves he met

Max stepped back without blinking and said tremulously, "M-Michael! Be cautious, the person in front of you is a vampire!"

Michael's eyes narrowed , he didn't mock Max's words

. After gaining system, his perspective on the world had also changed.

This feeling of danger towards George made Michael look at the man in front of him differently. He could only connect the events together.

"Those men work for this man, but why are they chasing Max?!" Michael pondered with a frown.

He opened the system interface and added two points to the power attribute. Keeping the points in this situation was indeed foolish, so he chose to follow his intuition and increase the power attribute.

After Michael added two points to the power attribute, he felt his muscles swell and harden. He didn't have time to immerse himself in the feeling. He saw that the power attribute on the system interface became 4, which meant his strength was four times that of an ordinary human. He looked at Max and was surprised to see him holding a sharp weapon in his hand. He said firmly to him, "Max, stay behind and don't interfere..."

"Mi-Michael, are you crazy? How will you fight a vampire?! He'll kill you!" Max said with an ugly expression. For the first time, he hated his curiosity. His curiosity shouldn't have involved himself or his close friend in this situation.

"Don't worry, I have a plan. Just stay calm and watch," Michael said confidently.

"A plan? What's your plan?" Max asked, gripping the small knife tightly.

"No time to explain now. Just follow my moves," Michael said, focusing on George's movements, who was smirking mockingly.

George was enjoying the situation. He believed these young men were easy prey. He didn't feel any change in Michael's strength. He thought he was just an ordinary human.

He didn't know that Michael had the strength four times that of an ordinary human. He was certain that he would eliminate him in seconds.

"Oh, how amusing. Do you think you can face me with your feeble grip? Don't laugh at yourself, little one. I am a first-rate vampire. I have speed and sensitivity, vampire strength that surpasses your capabilities. Just stay still, and I'll give you a quick death," George said arrogantly.

"Well, why don't we give it a try?" Michael replied boldly.

"Fine, then. I'll make you pay for your audacity," George said, disappearing from his position in an instant.

Michael felt a chill on his neck. His instincts told him that George was trying to sneak up behind him. He quickly turned around and raised his hand to fend off the attack.

He felt a slight pain in his grip and looked down to see George wincing in pain. Blood covered his face from his broken nose.

"Wha-wha-wha-what?!" George screamed aloud. "What happened? How did you manage to block my attack?" he asked in astonishment while wiping the blood from his nose.

"..."

Michael was genuinely surprised by his newfound strength. He hadn't expected to possess such power.

"It doesn't matter. You won't get another chance. I'll finish you off this time," George said angrily. He was embarrassed to have been struck by an ordinary human and decided to use all his speed and strength to torture this human.

"Give it a try," Michael confidently replied, especially after seeing that he had successfully landed a blow on the vampire. His fear dissipated with the surge of adrenaline.

George rose from the ground and attempted to approach Michael, aiming to bite his neck. Michael tried to defend himself with his powerful strikes.

George's speed surpassed Michael's, but Michael's strength surpassed George's. The battle was evenly matched, and neither of them could gain the upper hand over the other. However, it was clear that George had more experience in fighting than Michael.

Max watched the battle with shocked eyes. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. His friend Michael was bravely and fiercely fighting against a vampire.

At one moment, Max saw an opportunity to help his friend. He saw that George was occupied defending himself from Michael's strikes. He decided to use his sharp weapon to stab George in the back. He emerged from behind Michael and ran toward George, shouting as a way to distract his fear.

"Stop!"

"Max, damn it! Why did you interfere?!" Michael shouted in fear. He realized that this was a dangerous move on Max's part. He feared that his close friend might get hurt.

But it was too late. George heard Max's voice and quickly turned around. He saw Max wielding a sharp weapon and approaching him with the intent to stab. A sinister smile formed on George's face. He felt that he had found an opportunity for revenge against Michael. He let go of Michael's neck and grabbed Max's throat with his other hand. He lifted him in the air and squeezed his throat. Max, who didn't expect George to overpower him so easily, felt like he was choking. He tried to free himself but couldn't. His weapon fell from his hand.

"Ugh! Damn it!" Max screamed weakly.

"A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A!" George shouted in triumph.

"Look at your friend closely. I will kill him in front of your eyes. And then, I will kill you too. That's the price of my challenge."

George smirked with arrogance and victory, although he was shocked by the strength of the unknown boy before him.

Despite George's own immense power, three times that of an ordinary human, it was still inferior to the young man's strength. George was older and more experienced than Michael, but he had to admit that the talent of the young man before him was terrifying.

He was rapidly improving and adapting in combat, and for some reason, the young man in front of him was avoiding landing a lethal blow, even though he had several opportunities.

That's when Max's appearance was like a ray of light at the end of the tunnel.

"No! Leave him! Stop!"

Michael shouted angrily and sorrowfully. He felt guilt and regret for leaving Max to intervene in the battle.

He hadn't expected the situation to turn out like this. He had been avoiding the idea of killing George, despite having numerous chances due to his unconscious belief that taking someone's life was a bad idea. But when he saw his close friend on the brink of death, veins bulged on his sweat-drenched forehead. He summoned all his strength and courage, leaped towards George, and struck him in the head with all his might.

George felt a shock in his head. He felt dizzy and nauseous, losing his balance and falling to the ground with Max in his hand. Michael seized the opportunity and unleashed a series of consecutive strikes on George. He hit him in the face, chest, and abdomen with anger and resentment.

He shouted, "You beast! Leave Max! Leave him!"

"Ugh! S-Stop, you fool! S-S-Stop!" George cried out hoarsely. He felt pain and fear, cursing himself for not carrying the gun with him.

He couldn't defend himself against Michael's violent assault. He couldn't maintain his grip on Max. Michael sensed that George had given up resistance, and he felt George's grip on Max weakening.

He grabbed George's head with his hands, twisting it forcefully to the right and then to the left. He heard a snapping sound in George's neck and felt his body go limp. Michael gasped heavily, his entire body drenched in sweat. He looked at George's lifeless body and muttered in a low voice,

"It's over...!"

"Cough, cough, cough...!" Max coughed intensely, feeling the imprints of George's hand on his neck.

He inhaled a large amount of air and said with a hoarse voice, "Is he dead!? Did you win!?"

"No, I didn't win," Michael said sadly.

"W-What do you mean? You killed the vampire! You saved my life!" Max said gratefully, mixed with evident fear. If it weren't for Michael, who had somehow become different from the last time they met, Max would have been a meal for the vampire now.

"Yes, but I also killed a human. It doesn't matter if he was a vampire or not. He had a life, feelings, and dreams. And I took them away from him," Michael said with guilt. Max placed his hand on Michael's shoulder and said compassionately,

"Michael, don't blame yourself. You had to do it. He wanted to kill us. He was our enemy."

"I know, it's just... taking someone's life is not a feeling you want to experience," Michael said sadly.

"Michael, use some logic!! If you hadn't done it, both of us would be in his state right now, not the other way around," Max said sharply.

Michael looked at George's lifeless body and felt horror and fear. He felt like he had done something wrong. He felt like he had lost a part of his humanity. He felt like he wasn't himself anymore. He let out a long sigh and looked at the blue message in front of his eyes.

[Congratulations! You have killed a first-class vampire. You have gained 20 experience points and 5 points that you can freely use to enhance anything marked with a +.]

[You have awakened the Clarity ability.]

Michael felt astonished. He didn't expect to receive a reward from the system for killing George.

"Experience? Clarity ability?" He looked at the twenty experience points and the newfound ability with confusion, pushing aside his thoughts and turning his gaze to Max, who was gripping his neck with a pained expression.

"Help me hide this body!" Max nodded without speaking. He didn't feel like questioning Michael about his newfound power.
