Convincing

He felt a bit guilty for making her worry. Quickly, he typed a short message to let her know that he had arrived safely and was okay.

“Sorry, Joe. I should have informed you all earlier,” Lucas said as he put away his phone. “I really didn’t mean to make Luna worry.”

Joe nodded, accepting the explanation though still with a hint of doubt.

“I just don’t want to see Luna anxious. You know she cares about you a lot.”

Lucas gave a thin smile. “Yeah, I know. I care about her too. But sometimes I need time to myself.” It was a defense that rolled off easily.

Joe sighed, rolled his eyes, and got up from the sofa, walking towards his bed.

“Okay, I get it. The important thing is that you’re here now and you’re okay.”

Lucas looked around the luxurious room. High ceilings, dark wood-paneled walls, and marble floors gave an elegant feel.

In another corner, there was a large desk with an ergonomic chair, where a contemporary styled lamp provided comfortable lighting.
