The next day, Scarlett and her mom are eating breakfast when a knock is heard on the entrance door of their apartment, it sounds so authoritative that it scares the life out of them.

Before they wouldn't be really scared because they had money but now they are left with barely nothing to survive, just a little sound scared them.

Susan sends Scarlett to go see who are on the door. She walks silently for fear of being heard, tiptoeing at certain points, careful not to collide with any object that will produce sound. She wants it to seem like no one is at home in case it's a danger she wouldn't open the door.
