I lied

Stephen felt a big lump in his throat. He took a hard gulp, yet it wasn’t enough to push it down. The kind of heaviness he was feeling was beyond normal. If he had been told this would happen a long time ago, he could have sorted out a time machine to change the future.

The way his mother and sister's eyes were glued to him was enough to make him want to push his pride down, but he had second thoughts about it after seeing that taunting smile on Edward’s face.

“Time is a luxury. I don’t have much time to waste here,” Edward said, raising their curiosity as he then turned back but stopped halfway.

“I lied about having two hundred million dollars. What I have is a billion. I was ready to play along just so I can reveal it later, but I see there is no need.” he added and wanted to peel Linda's arms off him, but she remained glued to him.

His words sent waves of shock splashing on them and even Stephen, who was too stubborn to go down to the floor, was pushed to do so.
