Cash watched her as proudly walked away without a backward glance. He couldn't fathom if Vivian had always been like that, hating him only because he was poor. He could not understand what had changed, or if she had always been that way. Ever since he had an accident that caused him to have amnesia, Vivian had been vile and mean towards him.
Scrubbing his hands over his face, which had a pained expression, he let out a heavy sigh and focused on his present task of mopping the entire floor.
An hour later, he was done cleaning the floor and dragged his weary body and cleaning supplies down the elevator to the storage room.
“Hey Man, I heard what happened up there, you good?” George, his friend, asked as Cash stepped into their small shared office. Unable to reply, Cash nodded his head as he folded his damp self into the empty seat, not minding and placed his head on the table.
“Life really isn't fair” he mumbled under his breath, while his chin quivered. George, hearing him, placed his hands to his chest before mumbling his reply as well
“It really isn't. Chin up my man, do not be downcasted, there's always light at the end of the tunnel”
“Well, this tunnel of mine doesn't seem to have light or an ending. It's ever tormenting” Lifting his head, Cash stared at his friend in response
“Keep the faith brother. You look like shit though” he remarked
Cash scoffed, running his hands through his face and hair once again, causing his hair to spike up in different directions.
“Tell me about it. I feel like one too”
George smiled albeit sadly, opening a compartment in his office drawer, he ruffled through it in search of something
“Well, I think you should go back to my house and get my extra cleaning uniform, seeing as going to the Kentons will take a while.” keys in hand, he stretched it towards Cash, whose eyes had begun to tear up
He took the keys off George’s palm, but still held on to his hand, lightly squeezing it before he released it.
Smiling, he nodded his head at his friend, his voice choked up he mumbled his heartfelt gratitude
“Thank you, George.”
George waved his hand,
“It's nothing”
Cash’s stomach began to rumble, the noise filling the air, both men glanced at each other and burst into laughter with Cash’s ears going red at the tip
“Considering how much we drank last night, on an empty belly, even I will protest the lack of food”
Cash chuckled in response to George’s retort. He lifted his eyes to the wall and looked at the wall clock. It was his lunchtime, and his stomach probably knew it and used that moment to express its needs.
He slid his hands into his trousers pocket, he had a small change from his purchase of the bracelet, he needed to be sure the money was intact, so he could use it to purchase something to eat.
He had thirty minutes of break, and if he used it wisely, he could also see about returning the bracelet and getting his money back, with the deduction to his salary that was to begin, the money would help in going a long way for him, and also to his mother.
Cash got to his feet, and moved the chair backwards, the chair made a scraping noise as it moved, glancing at George, he informed his friend
“I'll be back soon. Time to go for my lunch break” George on the other hand nodded his head in response, leaning his head against the backrest of his chair.
On getting to the door, one of his feet out the door, while he held the don't frame, Cash turned back and gratefully nodded to his friend
“Thank you, George” who just waved him off in response, chuckling slightly, Cash headed out of the office, and into the street, as he stepped out, he noticed a black Cadillac that looked like the newest model, but took no note of it, though it was strange for such luxurious car to be there. His office was located at the backend of the company so he didn't require passing through the main entrance or through the reception area.
Walking down the streets, he tried thinking happy thoughts to lift his spirits, but couldn't. He wasn't a happy man and didn't have a happy home, so finding happiness within him was tough.
Walking briskly to meet up with his time, although he felt like dragging his weary self, still he kept on. Cash felt the back of his neck standing, and rubbed at his neck, eyebrows scrunched together.
Looking back to figure out why he felt that way suddenly, he noticed the black Cadillac from earlier driving slowly behind him, chills ran down his spine, as his mind raced with different thoughts. A kidnapper couldn't possibly drive a Cadillac, and even if they did, what could they want from a pauper like him, one with no money to his name? He was certain that if he did indeed get kidnapped, that would be the end of him, as the Kentons would never consider paying his ransom. Cash gulped loudly, and increased his pace, both arms swinging as he did.
From his side view, Cash realised the car was still trailing behind him, he grimaced and kept gulping. His heart still racing, he decided to be brave and stopped, to confront whoever was behind the wheel. He watched as the car came to a stop beside him, and his face turned white, of its own accord, his lips trembled.
His legs felt stuck to the ground, like they were weak and unable to move, and he began to look around him, glancing at his back for some sort of rescue, still glancing around, his gaze remained on the Cadillac and he watched as the driver clad in his uniform, came down and headed to the back of the door to open for his passenger, bowing his head
Blinking rapidly, Cash stayed rooted and watched with mouth wide open as the passenger came down. The man was grand, dressed in a cream-coloured suit and donning a black blazer. He was affixed as he stared at the fellow, who seemed to be walking towards him. Dazed, Cash looked sideways to confirm if the man was heading for him, and gulped loudly when he found nobody waiting.
He gulped again and held his breath as the man neared him, almost closing the distance between them, Cash opened his mouth, yet no words dared to come out.
The fellow finally got to his front after what seemed like hours, and bowed to him, his hands at his back on his waist.
“Young Master, it is good to see you again”
Can't flinched back, and gulped loudly once more, his hand rubbing at his neck, finally finding his voice. Frowning, he spoke in an uncertain tone, “Um, I think you must have mistaken me for someone else Mister” The man smiled widely, his face beaming his eyes not leaving Cash’s and slightly shook his head“No I'm not, Sir Cash Morgan, or should I say Sir Jason Yates?”Cash struggled to mince words together in reply as he gaped at him, the stranger chuckled lightly and continued“You Sir, are Jason Yates, the one true heir of the Yates entire empire, and your grandfather is ready and waiting for you to take over from him” “Are you sure you're not mistaken, Sir? I think you have the wrong person. I'm Cash Morgan, a poor bastard” The stranger breathed sharply, and shaking his head vigorously he replied “Don’t say that Young Master, our family and you as well are the richest in our country. You are not poor Sir, not in any way close to being poor”Still confused, Cash nodded his hea
President Malcolm continued. "We have 60 affiliations and businesses under Yates Consortium. Lest I forget, you can will the house to your daughter, I'd advise you to do that soon"Cash furrowed his brow thoughtfully, wondering what house President Malcolm was talking about. He smiled instead. "The house where you stay. I learned it's called Kenton's Mansion, it was your wedding gift from me to you. I bet Steve didn't tell you about this because he didn't want to complicate issues"Cash's jaw dropped. This was a wild dream and it was high time he woke up. It wasn't up to 20 minutes before Nathan arrived with a folder and a fountain pen in his hands. He asked Cash to sign the documents, which he obeyed and walked away."I do not wish to distract you from your usual activities, please come see me soon. Uh.....Nathan will drop you off and a gift has been wired to your account, I look forward to how you'll grow Yates Consortium"Cash didn't
Suddenly, Cash felt like his blood was boiling and his anger had lost control. He stormed into the room ignoring Vivian, reaching out for Justin's neck."How dare you!" Cash yelled angrily"Cash Morgan, stop right now!" Vivian screamed out.Cash threw a punch at Justin and Justin retaliated.Out of anger and frustration, Vivian throws the flower vase to the floor causing them to stop."I need you out of this room, now!" She warned."What?" Cash asked shockingly. "I guess you're not talking....""Cash, leave us alone""Why? I'm your husband""You are not!" She retorted. "Vivian" he called out softly, walking closer to her."Stop right there, Mr Morgan" she warned in an aggressive tone. "I'm not your wife. I was forced to become your wife by my grandfather, he died, Steve is no more and I guess I have the right to do anything I want, and refusing to be your husband cannot be exempted"
Suddenly, he stopped, two meters away from Dame. Cash realized that it was a waste of emotions if he decided to do something dangerous to Katrine."What? Are you gonna hit me now?" She chuckled in amusement. "How brave of you! How can you forget in a hurry that without The Kentons and me in particular, there is no Cash Morgan and your life will be worthless? Don't you dare try to make any move next time, I promise, I won't be this nice. Get out!" She commanded.Cash turned and walked away. It wasn't the first time he was thrown out of the house but that particular night, it felt different. He felt like a child being abandoned by his parents. Luckily, he finds out that he's still with the keys to George's house. On second thought, he realizes that it will be too burdensome to crash at George's little house. George is only a struggling young man who is trying to make ends meet. As soon as Cash entered his hotel room, he sank onto the bed tiredly and inha
Cash slipped his phone into his pocket and walked to the kitchen where the servers were gathered. He managed to walk out through the backroom to catch up with Nathan."Hello Young Master""I think you can just call me Cash Morgan""I am deeply sorry for the delay. A piece of customized jewelry consumes a lot of time to make but luckily, we were able to get it done. I apologize for this, sir""You don't need to apologize, I think you are right on time and the delay happened for a reason. I wouldn't have heard their thoughts if I had quickly presented the gift to Dame""Are you feeling good? Anything I can help you with?"Cash shook his head and walked away. He took the small box to one of the servers asking him to present it to Dame. Luckily, the servers could not recognize him because of his sudden change in appearance, the errand was easy. He followed the server closely to the door that separated the kitchen from the main p
To their surprise the following morning, they met Cash at the office, carrying out his daily duties."Look who we found here" Vivian whispered as they both walked closer to him."My boy is finally a grown man. I mean, you even have the guts to leave my party and spend the night elsewhere without my permission? How brave!" Dame remarked sarcastically"Hello Kristine, Hello Vivian" he greeted, ignoring them."How could you leave my party when you were most needed?""Oh..... didn't know I was so important that my absence could be felt"Dame scoffed in anger. "You're doing this intentionally, no?""Looks like Cash is beginning to feel like a man after our divorce""We are not divorced" Cash objected."You will have to explain yourself when we get home" Kristine warned."Wow! Your jewelry looks beautiful on you. Did you receive it as a gift last night?"Kristine blushed."That's th
He smiled softly, returned the phone to his pocket, and walked away. Walking away, he could feel the heat of a bomb that was going to explode. The Kentons will be shaken, my feet will crumble, they will cry in blood but he was not backing out until they crawl to him with wobbling feet, sweaty faces, blood dripping from their bodies, and a humble heart.*****As soon as Katrine's Personal Assistant whispered into her ears, her wide and grinning cheeks fell, her heart began to race faster and her pride broke into pieces. Luckily, all of these could not be seen by anyone. Immediately, she grabbed Vivian's hand and scurried to her office."Mother, what are you doing, wait!" Vivian screamed out, surprised at her mother's sudden reaction. Kristine shut the door tightly and ensured no one was watching or close to their reach."We are doomed!" She broke out Panting softly, Vivian took her thoughts away from the fact that her mother was tryi
"What is worst? What are you talking about, Vivian?" Kristine asked with a glare. "You should refresh up, I'll meet you in your room, soon" Vivian suggested."Don't do that to me, now. I'm not a child" she warned."I'll break the news to you in your room. It's highly confidential"Kristine felt relaxed at Vivian's proposition. If her daughter sounded that way then it must be secretive. "Was it unsealed? Did it look like it was unsealed and later sealed?""Nope, it's a direct stamp""Let's go" she whispered.Walking upstairs, Vivian hoped she didn't raise any hope for Kristine."What does the letter say?" Kristine quizzed, shutting the door.Vivian went silent. "Vivian, say something!" She commanded."It says we're in huge debt and our mansion might be taken away from us if we do not settle the debts on time" she responded sharply."Wh....what?" Kristine whispered. "Give it to me" she commanded, snatching the paper from Vivian's hands. "Jason Yates, again?!!""Who the hell is this?""
