The Rescue.

Nelson was evidently shaken by what he just witnessed, who was this homeless man? The man looked too strong to be a regular person.

Liam looked down at the leader who was still on his knees, he raised the man by his shoulders and dragged him towards the van and without hesitation, Liam mercilessly pushed him into the driver's seat and buckled his seat belt.

After securing the seat belt, he shut the door and went on to push the back door wide open and dragged the three unconscious men into and closed it.

He looked at the leader who stared back at him with a mixture of anger and fear, he then said, "I hope this would be more than enough for whoever sent you. He should know better not to go after that young innocent man again."

"Innocent man my foot, do you even have any idea what-" The leader who was agitated that Liam was interfering in his business was about to speak when Liam cut him off.

"I don't want to hear it because I don't even care, off you go now." He said and moved away from the car, and it drove off but the leader made sure to threaten Liam before driving away.

But Liam couldn't care less, he was going to die anyway. At least he saved someone before his death, hopefully, his reward would await him in heaven.

He turned and caught the young man whom he just saved staring at him with curiosity and Liam could tell he had a lot to say, more like a lot to ask.

With bruises all over his face, Liam walked to the edge of the bridge and sat in the same position he was in.

Nelson who was a little bit scared left where he had been standing and moved to where Liam sat with his eyes closed.

Though a little scared, he summoned a little courage and sat beside Liam but kept a little distance.

Nelson wouldn't lie if he said this was the first time he had witnessed such a gruesome sight and his body still shook from it.

And whoever this man was, he was definitely powerful.

"Thank you..." Nelson said, a bit unsure of how to put his words. He appreciated Liam's help but didn't know how to say it.

The bridge went back to being quiet and windy but there still wasn't any car passing by which was a bit weird.

Although Liam heard what the young man said, he responded with silence and didn't move an inch, his mind filled with Cara and the way she'd treated him.

He kept screaming internally to himself that he really didn't care much about her but he just couldn't help but feel pained about it.

After all, he spent six years in prison and not a day passed by without him not thinking about her and wishing for the day they would get back together and continue living happily.

He wanted to do so much for her and protect her and that was why he didn't spend his time in prison doing nothing. He learned so many skills and grew smarter and stronger but all his struggles ended in vain because the person he did all of it for didn't want him in the end.

Receiving only silence, Nelson still wouldn't give up and he asked, "Who are you? What are you doing here all by yourself?"

Liam internally sighed, he felt disturbed by this kid.

Liam was sure this young man was one of those rich kids who only knew how to squander money and get into trouble every time.

Who knew whether those men who tried to take him away were the boss of the person he caused trouble? Maybe he shouldn't have helped him, it was better to learn a good lesson than to keep being immature every time.

"The fight is now over, you should go back home to your parents." Except you want to watch me fall into this river to my death. Liam thought but didn't say the last words out loud, the last thing he wanted was to scare the young man he just saved, he was sure the sight of him falling into the river would traumatize the young man.

But Nelson said nothing, neither did he move from his position. He simply sat there. He low-key wanted to know more about this homeless-looking man but it looked like the man didn't appreciate his presence much.

And soon, Nelson sighted four cars ahead driving towards them and without having to look twice, he knew those cars were sent by his uncle.

Even Liam heard the loud sound of a car engine and he shot his eyes open to see the cars approaching them.

One after the other, each car stopped and parked before Liam and Nelson who just sat there and stared like it was a movie show.

About ten armed men jumped out of the fourth car at the back, guns and weapons in their hands while they were covered from head to toe.

Though confused, Liam sat there and just watched with curiosity to see who these men were and what or rather who they were after.

However, to Liam's surprise, these men surrounded him and pointed their guns and weapons at him. He quickly raised his hands the moment one of them shouted for him to not move an inch.

Seeing the situation, Nelson nervously stood up from the floor and turned to look at a man who jumped out of the second car and walked up to them.

On getting to Nelson, the man bowed his head and said, "Your uncle has ordered us to bring you back home safely."

"Yeah, and I'm fine. Tell them to take the gun away from him, he saved me." Nelson said pointing at Liam who just sat there with his hands raised.

The man looked at Liam for a few seconds and signalled the men to move away with their weapons and they did.

"Let's get going now, your uncle will be worried." The man said and waited for Nelson to move.

But Nelson turned to look at Liam, the man who had just saved his life. He then turned back to face the man and said, "He is coming with us."
