Chapter 9: Going hunting

"You think it's broken?"

"Ha ha, as soon as the Box gets to Mister Wigglesworth, then we're good," I held it carefully and it wore on me like a sleeve. I pushed it off.

"What the hell!?" Morty pulled, it stretched like rubber and flickered sewing itself on to me.

Seymour pawed at the remains in fascination.

"Zack!!" My dad was home and his voice was getting louder as he came by.

"Yeah, Zack!!" I snuffed at Lois's voice. She can barely put her sentences together and copies anyone who talks.

"Help,"

The alien stuff was creeping up to my face and I wheezed craning my neck away from it.

He checked the house for any anomalies and glared at me. "What in the world are you wearing?"

I hid the boot behind the rails.

"It's his costume," Morty said casually patting my head. The substance scaled up my neck and I hooded my face and I huffed at the holes he poked on it.

"Polkuhgeist,"

"It's an award-winning costume all right,"

Beck blew a raspberry at me holding a white package and a bottle of chocolate syrup and he replaced the goods.

"Pol_TER_geist," Dexter corrected "And don't pile stuff on the table, please. We can only afford one now," He stacked the goods and Beck held back his chocolate syrup.

"Buzz off Dexter," Ever since he found out, it's been 'Dexter' or "Dumpster" on good days.

"Hey, Mister Trevor, what's on your face?" Morty asked and Dexter rubbed his cheek looking into his phone camera.

"Oh, it's a butterfly,"

"No, that's your butt!" Beck growled and glared at me. "And what are you doing with my blanket!?"

Morty barricaded the door while I slipped into my room. He growled and Morty plunged when he bit him

I stopped by the window and backed to the wall.

My heart was pounding when he left and I broke into a sweat at the blob creeping up my back and it fell into a costume when Morty peeked in.

"Wicked,"

He felt at the fabric "No way, this is nanotech,"

"It's stuck," I tugged it and held my throat at the gnarly voice and the statements rolling up with a ghostly red background.

[ Mecha Knight Identified ]

I climbed down the window and landed, the suit was heavy.

[ Integrating Morphin Suit based on body size and weight. Please remain still. ]

Morty came out next. He touched his head and signalled me. I touched my helmet and looked for an opening to take it off.

"Take it off!"

"I know, I know,"

I ran to his backyard and the suit turned lighter. "Deactivate, Deactivate,"

[ I'm afraid I do not understand your command ]

Morty knocked and Mister Wigglesworth peered through the door. "Who is this?"

"Frank_"

"Open the damn door!" I knocked on it quickly.

"Dexter?" He surmised.

I rushed inside and the back seemed spacious, even the kitchen was a pleasure to be in.

"This thing's on me, I can't turn it off,"

"Slow down, the acoustics are a little tight so I can't understand a word you're saying.

"It follows anyone who holds the Mecha Nanites, it's attached to your brain, that's how your enhanced strength and agility comes to light,"

"Strength? Zack?" He laughed and quieted when I growled.

So I'm on steroids per se.

"Nanites? You mean you can take it out, so we can save your life and recover the mecha,"

"Hold on," Morty raised a hand.

"It's not that simple, you're as stuck a knight, as I am,"

...

"I need to find that Klozandroid and end it for good," I said finally out of the costume.

The room was dark but had dim blue lighting but it was cosy. The monitors were at work in the surveillance room.

"There's a lot more pressure as it seems and I have little time, I can't teach you to combat and use your suit at the same time, there are way too many_"

"What!?" I stepped forward.

"I thought I had that much time, but it seems the trials can't wait," He said sorting out his briefcase and he stood up.

"Wait, that's too soon. How do I find the Klozandroid on my own?"

"You need some kind of proof if you're going to face "the council" "

"He has a point," Morty shrugged. "I have the video clip."

"Do you want me to take you along? Going to space isn't some kind of joyride. It's dark and it's cold and living without gravity is a drag, so I suggest you stay on earth and play your part like I ordered you to. You can't be a leader if you're not willing to serve the authority's purpose,"

...

"Maybe you should quit your whining and do the right thing, puh!" I scoffed and folded my arms hanging on the window. Waiting for the android to show up. It was night time and the city was blooming with lights again.

I perked up at something. A fleck of light hovering over the city got my attention as well.

"It's close."

I flinched at the fireball hurtling towards the spinning vessel and the edge careened and exploded.

I jumped to the ground and the suit covered me up.

"Ash, Telescope, give me a closer look,"

My sensory receptors closed in on the spaceship on the field and I noticed the Klozandroid was getting closer to the shipbreach with a fire burning about the grass and crater.

"Found her. Turbojet,"

The jets activated and I headed southwest toward the city. I was hyperventilating in my suit at the altitude and I barely got used to the jet engines, I was approaching the shipbreach by the trees in the city's frontier. "How do I stop this thing?" I looked down at the algorithms running in my view.

"Ash. Talk to me."

[ Good Evening, Zack. How may I be of assistance? ]

"I can't stop this thing,"

[ Syncing with Klozandroid coordinates... ]

[ Activating Freefall Mode ] The jets refracted.

"No!"
