Ch 15: Knowledge is power

Deanna Copeland, a library worker, has just told Loren that she has been studying about his mother's people which he has been trying to do in the library, but no such luck.

“Interesting to know that a librarian is studying about people who live a life with the dead. Could it be that you want to learn Necromancy?”

“No, that is not my interest, only knowledge is what I care for, and learning about anything new or from the past brings a certain excitement to me.”

Loren began to smile as he believed that he might have found a very special ally, someone he can seek out for help when it comes to knowledge.

“So you are studying them only to learn about them, nothing more than that Deanna.”

“Yes, that is all I only want because knowledge is something powerful to have that many do not, and rarely few do.”

“I think, I am glad to have met you, Deanna, you seem like the type of person that I can trust because you see, I want to rule this world.”

Loren thinks before telling Deanna as she was shocked to hear him say that and she can tell he is not joking.

“Why would you tell someone like me, I am no one of importance or even can be of any help to you.”

“Oh yes you can, a person like you is a valuable thing to find and can be a great help as I said before, I want to conquer this world and it will require many things to make that happen, one of those things is knowledge, I will need someone like that to help me.”

“And that person would be me yet, I still do not understand, you telling me this Loren and not worry that I will tell someone what you plan.”

Loren smiles at Deanna then moves closer to her with both of their faces near.

“You could do that, but you won’t Deanna because I know you want to learn and gain a lot of knowledge, and joining me will allow you to do what you love my dear.”

Deanna thinks about what Loren said if it is not true, the girl can benefit from joining him yet she is a human being who never in her life hurt anyone or has any evil thoughts.

So going along with Loren will make her an evil person because he wants to conquer the world, meaning to her, he will do evil things to make it happen.

“Tell me Loren, what is your reason for wanting to rule the world for good or evil?”

“It is both Deanna.”

“Both of you mean you are doing both of those reasons and care to explain.”

Loren took a few steps back from Deanna and kept good eye contact with her.

“For me to protect this world, I have to rule if I wish to be the guardian of this world.”

“But that would not be an easy task to complete. Many of the nations of races out there living in this world will battle against a person like you who wishes to rule it.”

“I thought about it since the day I was born and was able to walk and think for myself. I am ready to face those who wish to stop my goal. That is why I have studied and learned Necromancy to create an all-powerful undead army along with seeking allies who I can trust and share this goal with.”

Deanna couldn’t believe it, she thought that she would meet a person like Loren who wanted to rule the world and learned Necromancy.

She can feel her interest start to grow more and more around him as they talk.

“Do you agree with Deanna to join me in becoming my ally because I need someone like you when it comes to knowledge?”

“I will join you Loren as I think my love for knowledge will grow even more when following you, I believe that I might even get a chance to learn new things that are yet to be discovered.”

“I am happy to hear as I look forward to your guiding help when it comes to certain things, I do not know.”

Deanna put out a hand for the two of them to shank, but Loren had a better idea as he grabbed the girl's hand to kiss it.

She blushed when he did that.

“Oh right!, I forgot about what you came here for, let me get it for you.”

“No need you were first to study about them in fact when you are done Deanna comes to the castle. I would like to talk about it more there with you and do not worry tell the guards that you are a dear friend of mine as they will bring you to me.”

Deanna couldn’t believe that she has permission to visit the castle when she has the chance.

“Big brother! I found a book.” Angelina appears holding quite a few books.

“Angelina, I thought you were going to find one for me to read to you.”

“But these books are interesting, I couldn’t resist,” Angelina said while making a sad face.

Nonetheless, Loren smiled as he patted her on the head, making the girl smile.

“Oh my god! A demon.” Deanna yelled out without a second thought and because of that Angelina was not pleased.

That girl was going to kill her right then and there, but she stopped Loren.

“Angelina does not hurt her. Deanna is a friend as well as a new ally to my cause and besides I am sure the girl didn’t mean anything by her reaction to you.”

She claims when Loren spoke inside her head telepathy and obeyed him, stepping back beside him still had an angry look on her face toward Deanna.

“Forgive her the girl never acts like that, but you should keep what she is to yourself as Angelina does not like to be reminded about that.”

“Oh I am so sorry please forgive me, Angelina.” Deanna apologies yet Angelina didn’t say a word and ignored the girl.

Loren notices that and it seems he has to help open to others besides him and those close.

“Well then, I think that it is for today, but before we leave we may check out these books.”

“Of course let me help you.”

Deanna helped them as Loren and Angelina soon left the library to arrive back at the castle.

Where Angelina had begun making ready for her already.

A few hours had gone by while Loren was readying for Angelina who was sleeping on him.

At that moment the door to his room opened where two people entered.

“Ah Cecelia and Enidut Pathwarrior welcome back.” Loren greets the two but soon sees that both of them are looking at Angelina with envy in their eyes.

“It is not fair she gets to enjoy being this close to you,” Cecelia said.

“Come now there is no need to act like that, I will hold two when I have the chance, but besides that tell about your day.”

“Well I had my fun doing some combat training with the king men and I have to say they suck badly.”

“Explain.” Loren sees her way to the bed to sit down on it.

“Don’t get me wrong here the men can fight, but can’t show skill at the same time they need more training to help improve better, but there was someone who did impress there.”

“Elden Prince was that person.” Loren guessed as it was oblivious.

“Yeah, he was a challenge for me on the training ground, I must be honest Elden even beat me, so that means I am going to have to train myself even harder.”

“Every person always has to improve themself more when they discover what they are lacking.”

“Yeah your right, oh before, I forget you still owe me that date Loren.”

Loren laughed a little when Enidut Pathwarrior remained with him.

“Of course, I will honor what I agree upon to your dear.”

As Loren tells her, he makes a note to take the time to meet this Elden Prince.

“What about you Cecelia, how was your time at the mage academy?”

“It was lovely, I had the chance to test those students there on magic and had the chance to find new magical spells to learn. I was even offered a job there to be a teacher at that school.”

“Why didn’t you take it?”

Cecelia got angry when Loren said that and he saw it show on her face.

“That's a mean thing to say to me, don't you know about my feelings for you? I always want to stay by your side, never leave it and take a job like that and take up my time for you.”

“Forgive me, I just thought you would like to take such a job to teach others magic as you are the best at it.”

“Only because it was thanks to you Loren, you're a good teacher,” Cecelia said while blushing.

At that moment there was a knock at the door.

“Come in,” Loren told whoever was behind the door as it opened.

“Sorry to bother you, but the king has requested for you prince Loren.” a servant told him.

“Tell king Garland, I will be there soon.”

The servant bows its head once receiving his answer and leaving soon.

“So the king has made his decision and I know what the answer will be.”

Loren carefully awakens Angelina, so he gets up.

“Do you think the king will do what you ask him when he tells you his answer?”

Loren thinks about it for a few long minutes then answers Enidut Pathwarroir.

“King Garland must, the man won't like it, but if he is serious in joining me on a part of the goal then making a small payment to prove his loyalty should't be that hard.”
