Chapter 5: The Arrogant and Foolish Chief Doctor

Ethan spoke his diagnosis slowly, but Melly couldn't help but widen her eyes, filled with astonishment.

Ethan had completely guessed her illness!

Aboli, understanding her younger sister, nodded, her trust in Ethan increasing.

After her initial surprise, Melly quickly reverted to her demeanor, crossing her arms and turning away, appearing resentful as she said, "No, he's completely wrong!"

Nevertheless, she didn't stop Ethan anymore, even displaying a bit of shyness as she glanced at him discreetly.

Ethan didn't pay attention to Melly's reactions.

He approached the hospital bed, and almost immediately upon examining Mr. Campbell from such a close distance, he deduced that Mr. Campbell had been poisoned.

Placing his index and middle fingers on Mr. Campbell's wrist, after a moment, he identified the type of toxin.

It had no specific name, more like a mixture of various toxins, even emitting a hint of magical energy, something quite rare in the current world.

He blinked, then began helping Mr. Campbell sit up straight, placing the old man's hands on his own knees.

Surprisingly, Mr. Campbell, who had been critically ill, managed to maintain this posture.

Aboli, noticing this, couldn't help but furrow her brows slightly, while Melly's face clearly displayed astonishment.

Ethan then sat down and placed his hand on Mr. Campbell's back, quickly channeling energy from his own body into Mr. Campbell's.

Flowing swiftly in the direction he intended, Mr. Campbell's fingernails began to darken, and then a black liquid substance oozed from them.

Melly remained speechless, while Aboli looked somewhat astonished as she observed Ethan.

She knew that the energy circulating around Ethan indicated he was a skilled energy warrior adept at treatment techniques.

A normal person would never know the essentials to become such a warrior.

Who was Ethan, really?

After a while, Ethan slowly withdrew his hand. However, Mr. Campbell still showed no signs of waking up.

Despite witnessing some wonders, Melly couldn't help but harbor doubts: "Why hasn't my grandfather shown any change at all? Do you really know how to treat him?"

Ethan disregarded her skepticism and calmly said to Aboli, "There's a magical energy source in Mr. Campbell's body that needs to be removed for him to be cured. I only helped prolong his life for a bit. I'll go prepare the medicine. Please keep him in the same position for half an hour, absolutely do not move him, not even a bit."

Melly felt somewhat dissatisfied with Ethan's dismissive attitude, but Aboli nodded, saying, "I understand."

After Ethan finished speaking, he quickly left.

Shortly after, there was a sudden knock on the hospital room door, and a group of three doctors entered, led by the hospital's chief physician.

He looked at Aboli confidently and said, "I suppose no introductions are needed. With me here, the patient's life can be ensured."

Melly had also heard a lot about the medical achievements of the chief physician, her eyes almost sparkling as she hurriedly said, "Finally, someone useful has arrived! Please save my grandfather immediately!"

The chief physician nodded and approached.

As soon as he saw Mr. Campbell sitting up, he almost immediately furrowed his brows, his eyes filled with anger. "What are you people doing to the patient?!"

Saying so, he moved forward, seemingly wanting to immediately make Mr. Campbell lie down.

Aboli quickly intervened, "Stop. My friend has completed the treatment; my grandfather is no longer critical."

Upon hearing this, the chief physician frowned, then disdainfully said, "The young man who just left? He's just pretending. Perhaps he's on the run! If an ordinary person like him could treat a critical patient, what's the point of doctors like us existing? Not everyone can treat diseases; perhaps you've been deceived."

Pausing for a moment, he continued, "Let me treat him. If anything goes wrong, I'll take full responsibility!"

Clearly, the chief physician was very confident in his abilities.

Melly also quickly said, "That's right, sis. I feel the same way. Could you really have been fooled by Ethan's tricks?"

The other doctors nodded in agreement, continuously persuading.

Aboli furrowed her brows slightly, beginning to feel a bit hesitant.

Could she have been mistaken? Was Ethan really not an energy warrior but just an ordinary person?

No, that couldn't be possible!

Aboli whispered to herself, intending to speak up and tell the chief physician to leave, but by then, he had hurried over and helped Mr. Campbell lie down.

But the horrifying thing happened immediately!

Mr. Campbell's complexion quickly turned pale, and he began coughing incessantly, blood spewing from his mouth.

The health monitor emitted a deafening sound, making people's minds feel like they were about to explode.

The chief physician seemed taken aback by the turn of events. He hurriedly shouted, "Emergency!"

The doctors accompanying him quickly retrieved their equipment, tirelessly performing emergency procedures, but everything seemed futile at the moment.

Mr. Campbell's breathing became weaker and weaker, even worse than before Ethan treated him.

Melly, in a panic, tightly grasped Aboli's hand, tears beginning to well up in her eyes.

Aboli remained silent, her gaze icy.

After a while of emergency treatment, the warning sounds from the health monitor still echoed in the hospital room.

The chief physician could hardly believe it and stopped in his tracks.

His face was somewhat bewildered, almost unable to believe how things had turned out like this.

How could someone deteriorate so rapidly?!

He looked at Aboli with a hint of fear, panicked as he said, "It's hopeless, he's dying."

Melly couldn't believe it, her eyes widening as tears streamed down instantly.

Aboli's expression also momentarily turned panicked, but she quickly regained her composure, giving the chief physician a cold stare.
