WHY WAS I RELEASED?

"Enough! Take him to the cells. I don't want to hear any more of his nonsense!"

Barra, annoyed by Daren's explanation, immediately ordered his subordinates to escort Daren to the holding cell.

As soon as Daren was taken out of the interrogation room, Inspector Barra sat in her chair pondering. It was obvious that she was disgusted with the development of this case. However, she could do nothing but continue to search for more evidence.

Meanwhile, in the holding cell, Daren continued to lament his fate. He had no idea how the poison ended up in his pants pocket. However, he realized that no one would believe him. He had no choice but to go with the flow of life that was playing tricks on him.

When lunchtime arrived, police officers began distributing food to the detainees. The atmosphere of the detention room was quieter; some prisoners were seen enjoying the food in front of them. Meanwhile, Daren was still sitting pensively with a battered face as a result of being beaten by the police earlier.

When the officers approached Daren, they placed a plate of rice and side dishes in front of him. However, Daren showed no interest in eating his food. He continued to stare blankly at the wall, as if he didn't care about his situation.

Seeing Daren, who was still pensive, the burly man who had argued with Daren earlier now approached him. "Heh, why won't you eat it?" the man asked sarcastically. Daren still did not answer and chose to remain silent.

The man was getting curious about Daren's attitude, so he tried to tease again. "Eat! If you don't eat, you'll die, you know? If you die, it'll be hard for you to prove you're not a murderer. Hahaha!" he said with a mocking laugh.

The man's words jolted Daren out of his reverie. He began to realize that what the man had said was true. If Daren continued to dwell in sadness, he would not be able to prove that he was not the real killer. Daren then looked at the plate in front of him and slowly began to eat the food.

The burly man returned to his seat, satisfied that he had succeeded in raising Daren's spirits.

"Remember, you have to stay alive if you want to prove your truth. There's no point in giving up now," he said in a more serious and encouraging tone.

Daren nodded slowly, realizing that he had to stay strong and survive even in a harsh environment like prison. After lunch, the inmates returned to their cells, including Daren.

It had been a week since Daren had been detained by the police. Daren tried to interact more actively with the other prisoners, trying to be sincere with his fate as a prisoner for something he never did. He also tried to maintain his physical and mental health in order to remain strong to face all the obstacles he would face.

Daren began to realize that justice was indeed difficult to achieve, but that did not mean he had to give up. Daren would continue to fight until the truth was finally revealed and he could be free from the charges against him.

"But... how do I get out of this hell?" whispered Daren, clenching his hands tightly.

The sentencing hearing for Daren was just days away. Daren tried to surrender, but he still couldn't accept it.

Ah, that sucks!

"If I am found guilty, then I will be sentenced to death! I will be imprisoned for life!" Daren punched the wall until the back of his hand bled, but the pain was nothing compared to the hurt in his heart over the accusations that were destroying his life.

Daren was literally trapped in a cramped, dark prison cell, its walls made of rough concrete painted a faded gray. In the corners of the room, dampness and mildew began to take over the surface of the walls, irritating his sense of smell with the stale, unpleasant odor. The dim light from the old incandescent bulbs added to the gloomy and depressing atmosphere, emphasizing the sadness that haunted Daren.

This tense atmosphere was exacerbated by the sounds of other prisoners' screams and complaints, which echoed through the hallways of the prison.

In a state of desperation, Daren felt frustrated and angry, facing the hearing that would decide his fate. He clenched his fists, screamed, and beat the cell walls with what strength he had left, trying to vent the fear and anger gnawing at his heart.

In the same cell was a man named Glen who had disliked Daren from the start. His face was fierce, and his gaze was cynical. "Since you arrived, until today, your mouth has never stopped screaming! My ears are burning!" said Glen.

"Just cover your ears, easy, right?" said Daren.

Glen, along with his three equally vicious friends, took advantage of the situation to vent their hatred towards Daren.

"How dare you fight back, huh?" while wearing a cynical smile, they immediately attacked Daren brutally, hitting him mercilessly.

Bugh, bugh...

The blows were hard as fists and kicks slammed into Daren's body, leaving him in pain and grimacing.

"Asshole!" cursed Daren after being cornered in the corner of the cell.

Daren tried to fight back, but the strength of the four prisoners was far more formidable than he could have imagined. Blow after blow landed on his face and body, tearing his flesh and shattering his pride.

In the midst of this unequal fight, the sound of loud noise and punches attracted the attention of the police officers on duty at the prison. They ran towards Daren's cell, witnessing the violence taking place inside. "What are you doing?" shouted one of the policemen, startling the inmates who were busy torturing Daren.

Daren could only smile slightly as he tried to cope with the pain in his body, hoping that justice would come soon. However, he knew that life in prison wasn't always fair, and sometimes even innocent people had to feel the bitterness of a life they couldn't control.

"We'd better move him!" The police then decided to move Daren to a different cell, keeping him away from his senseless attackers.

In a new cell that was just as bleak and suffocating, Daren tried to gather his strength, hoping that there was still some hope of facing the impending trial. However, the deep physical and mental pain made him feel as if the world had closed its doors, leaving him alone in unrelenting darkness.

As Daren sank into grief, lamenting the terrible fate that had befallen him, he suddenly heard footsteps approaching the prison cell where he was being held. Daren looked down, trying to hold back the pain that burned through his body. Before long, the cell door burst open. However, Daren remained indifferent, feeling helpless and hopeless.

As Daren sank into grief, lamenting the terrible fate that had befallen him, he suddenly heard footsteps approaching the prison cell where he was being held. Daren looked down, trying to hold back the pain that burned through his body. Soon, the cell door opened. However, Daren remained indifferent, feeling helpless and hopeless.

"Mr. Daren Navarro, you are free! Come on, come out," came a loud voice from one of the policemen.

Daren was shocked, his eyes wide with disbelief, "Huh? How come? Why am I being released?"

Instead of being happy and excited about being released, Daren looked confused and doubtful.

"Don't ask too many questions, the important thing is that you are now free. Please leave!" the policeman said in a stern tone and did not want to be questioned further.

In confusion, Daren stepped out of his cell.

"Congratulations, Mr. Daren, you are free," Inspector Barra said with a faint smile.

Daren was still curious and asked, "Why was I released so quickly? Wasn't all the evidence you gathered so strong?"

Inspector Bara smiled, then tapped Daren gently on the shoulder. "Don't ask too many questions, Mr. Daren. You'd better get out of here and enjoy your freedom. Life is still waiting for you out there."

However, despite the gratitude and relief, Daren's heart was still filled with confusion. "What the hell is going on? Why was I suddenly released? Am I really innocent or is there something being hidden from me?"

Daren felt there was something odd about his release before the sentencing hearing began. I don't know... Daren didn't want to think too much about it. All that mattered now was that he was released and he could breathe fresh air again.

It was enough that Daren had been locked up for a week. As soon as he stepped outside, he heard people shouting.

"Killer!" shouted one of the crowd.

"The killer goes free!" shouted another.

Daren was furious, he didn't accept it, "I'm not a killer!" he snapped angrily.
