CHAPTER NINE

Victor's eventful morning had left him with a renewed sense of purpose and determination as he was eager to prepare himself for another productive day at school.

He realized that presenting himself in a new light, both internally and externally, was essential to his newfound sense of purpose, to suit his newfound identity.

Victor started his morning routine with a refreshing shower. The warm water cascaded down, washing away the remnants of the stressful encounters of the previous day.

As he lathered up with his favorite shower gel, he felt a sense of cleansing not only on his body but also on his spirit.

The water served as a metaphorical reset button, allowing him to wash away the doubts and insecurities of his cruel past.

Once he was out of the shower, Victor meticulously brushed his teeth, ensuring his smile was bright and confident.

He took his time, recognizing that each action was a step towards the transformation he sought.

With his grooming complete, Victor moved to his wardrobe. In the past, he had often dressed modestly and inconspicuously, but today was different.

He carefully selected a stylish outfit that exuded confidence. He opted for a well-fitted, crisp white shirt paired with tailored trousers and polished leather shoes.

His choice of clothing was a reflection of the newfound self-assurance of his new identity of him being the baron Jarrod Williams son.

As he buttoned up his shirt and adjusted his tie, Victor couldn't help but admire his reflection in the mirror.

The image staring back at him was not just a physical transformation but a representation of his determination to be seen and respected for who he truly was.

Finally, he sprayed a hint of his new cologne, a subtle yet memorable fragrance that would leave a lasting impression on those he encountered throughout the day.

Victor was now ready to face the world, no longer burdened by self-doubt or the judgments of others.

However he noticed the tantalizing aroma of his mother's home-cooked meal wafting through the air.

The dish was a hearty serving of creamy chicken alfredo, garnished with fresh basil and served with a side of garlic bread.

"Come on honey, your food is ready!" Mrs Yvonne called, putting up a satisfactory smile on her face as she admired the classy meal she just made.

Victor, though tempted by the aroma of the food, responded. "I appreciate it, Mom, but I really need to get to school. I'll have this meal later, possibly when I come back."

His mother, concerned but supportive, said, "Are you sure, dear? You need your energy for the day."

Victor reassured her, "I promise, Mom. I'll enjoy it when I get back. Right now, I need to focus on my studies, I got class this morning." He then moved to her and gave her a peg on her cheek.

With a loving nod, his mother replied, "Alright, my son. Study hard, and don't forget to eat when you come back, I got a busy day at school today."

Victor rushed to his room to grab his backpack, before heading to the exit of their apartment.

With his school essentials in hand, Victor hurried out the door and flagged down a passing cab.

He hopped into the back seat, giving the driver quick instructions on his destination. The cab sped away, navigating the city streets efficiently.

Ten minutes later, Victor found himself on the university campus. He paid the cab driver and hastily exited the vehicle.

Time was of the essence, and he didn't want to be late for his class.

As he briskly walked through the campus grounds, Victor couldn't help but reflect on his time at the phone store.

The memory of purchasing the extravagant iPhone 4s Elite Gold Edition still lingered in his mind.

He was determined to prove that his choices were his own, and he had the means to back them up.

With quick, purposeful steps, Victor made his way to the university lecture hall known as "Achievers Academic Auditorium." He checked his wristwatch to ensure he had a few minutes to spare.

Time was indeed on his side, and he took a moment to catched his breath before entering the lecture hall.

Victor's determination to start the day strong was evident as he hurried to take a seat in the Achievers Academic Auditorium.

His fresh and stylish attire turned heads as he entered the lecture hall. Students seated nearby couldn't help but steal curious glances, wondering about the sudden transformation in his appearance.

Victor's strides were purposeful as he approach an empty seat near the center of the auditorium.

This seat happened to be surrounded by a group of girls engrossed in lively conversation. They had been chatting and giggling, enjoying their own company.

However, as Victor sat down, a noticeable change came over the group. Their expressions shifted from casual indifference to something more malevolent.

They exchanged sly glances and began to look at Victor with a mix of mockery and scorn.

One of the girls whispered something to her friend, and they both stifled laughter.

It was clear that they had recognized Victor from previous encounters, and they considered him an outsider, someone beneath the standard of the private university they all attended.

These girls were aware of Victor's background, knowing that his family's financial status was not on par with the affluent students who frequented the university.

They knew about the scholarship that he earned to be here however, they still believed that despite his intellectual prowess that earned him the prestigious scholarship, he didn't deserve to be anywhere close to them.

As the girls continued to share disdainful glances and whispered remarks, Victor maintained his composure.

He was no stranger to judgment, prejudice and mockery, having faced it countless times in the past.

As the whispered remarks and judgmental glances continued, one of the girls in the group mustered the courage to speak up.

She leaned toward Victor and, in a voice that carried to the surrounding seats, said, "Hey, excuse me, but we're not really comfortable with you sitting here."

Victor, maintaining his composure and refusing to engage in confrontation, simply nodded and stood up. He didn't utter a word, choosing to handle the situation with grace.
