CHAPTER 6

"Yes I know. I want you to come here with ten military personnel."

"But the contract is not over my prince, you have two more years before your marriage to Linda, the true love of your life."

"Do not question me Lieutenant. I am done with Linda and the Davidson's. By the way get down here with ten military personnel and a little coffin for a little child."

The voice on the background sounded concerned. "What for? Why do you need a coff…"

"That is an order Lieutenant, anymore questions from you is going to make me furious with you and you know that you don't want me to be furious." Romeo said authoritatively.

"Yes my prince. And…and it's Lieutenant general now my prince."

"Congratulations Lieutenant general Thompson."

After about thirty minutes two bullion vans were parked in front of the kiosk with an SUV in-between them. They had located Romeo using GPS.

Also since Romeo was of royal blood, he always wore a metal hand band with a chip, which was used to track his whereabouts.

The men that alighted from the vehicles were clad in military uniforms. All of them apart from lieutenant general Thompson were armed with machine guns.

Seeing the state that Romeo was in, he rushed to the kiosk. the lieutenant general stood at attention alongside the ten armed soldiers that accompanied him however immediately Romeo gave the signal for them to be at ease, Lt. General Thompson pulled his knee length coat and covered him.

"Oh my God my prince, why do you have to go through all this stress because of a woman?" Said the Lieutenant general as he covered the already soaked Romeo with his coat.

Romeo was silent.

"Oh it's a baby."

"It is my daughter."

"Wow, you are a father now." Said the Lieutenant general as he touched the baby on its cheek. Immediately after the touch, he was shocked and wore a worrisome look on his face. "It is cold."

"It is dead." Romeo answered coldly.

Lt. General Thompson had his mouth wide open. "How? why? What happened?"

"What happened is not important, where is the coffin, I intend to bury her here."

Lt. General Thompson scowled. "Why should it be in this mud heap. This baby should be buried in the palace, among her ancestors." He protested.

"No."

"Why?"

"My father Talmanesier II would know about this, and he would close down the hospital. Many innocent people are going to loose their licenses and they would be jobless." Romeo sounded compassionate.

"So it was a miscarriage?"

"Yes." Romeo was not sure.

"But they deserve to loose their licenses they…"

"They had no idea it was royal blood."

"This has to…"

"Let us begin the proceedings for her burial, we would honor her, giving her a rite of passage to the great beyond, to be with her ancestors. I would speak no more on this."

"Aye." Lt. General Thompson nodded.

In no time, they brought out the coffin, wrapped her body and placed her carefully inside.

"She is really his Majesty's carbon copy." Said one of the soldiers as all of them including Romeo and the Lt. General were gazing at her for the very last time.

"Yes she was." Said the Lt. General.

"Hey what's it with these marks?" Another soldier said, pointing at her direction.

Romeo was alarmed. "Were?"

"Here your majesty." He pointed at her neck.

Romeo couldn't believe his eyes as he saw some purple linings around her neck. "What could that be?" He asked in a breathless whisper.

"I have seen this a couple of times." Said one of the soldiers. "When I went on a rescue mission with some comrades I found the dead bodies of our brothers who had been captured. We ran an autopsy and we got to discover that our dead brothers were strangled to death."

Romeo knew that was true but the thought of his daughter being strangled to death caused a cold to shoot down his spine. The realization made him shiver. 'why would they strangle a baby? what did she do? It's just a baby.' he thought. He clenched his fist in rage

"I would suggest we do an autopsy my prince." Lt. General Thompson suggested. "Who knows, she might have been killed."

Romeo then took a deep breath. He closed the coffin. "We came here for a burial. Let us give my daughter an honourable one."

With that said, the soldiers took hold of the coffin and buried the corpse, but before the baby was buried, some gunfire was shot into the air as a sign of respect.

After the baby was buried, Romeo gathered the military personnel together. "What happened here stays between us. That is an order, if any word concerning what happened here is disclosed, I will know, and trust me I would make sure that the life of the culprit is completely destroyed. Understood?"

"Yes your majesty!" They echoed in unison."

"Now take me to the defense headquarters." He ordered and immediately he was driven out of that area.

In about thirty five minutes he was driven to the defense headquarters.

The defense headquarters stood as a formidable structure, its imposing facade adorned with the Mondoshi national emblem.

Surrounded by manicured lawns, the building exuded an air of authority. Massive gates guarded entry, manned by stern-faced soldiers.

The architecture blended modernity with security, reflective windows concealing the activities within.

Upon entering, a vast atrium unfolded, echoing with disciplined footsteps. Corridors led to classified offices, each door guarded by security personnel.

Strategically positioned surveillance cameras monitored every corner. War rooms hummed with activity, where intelligence met strategy.

In this bastion of national security, secrets were safeguarded, and decisions shaped the fate of a nation.

Still clothed with his soaked clothes and Romeo's coat, Romeo was led to the luxury building where the Lt. General and a few senior officials had lodged.

Romeo was well taken care of and he was provided with new bed clothes, including an expensive robe.

It was a cold night and Romeo couldn't wait to forget about the horrible incident that had befallen him for a while and fall asleep.

As he struggled to get some sleep thoughts of his dead daughter and wife who was pressured to divorce him flooded his mind.

He began to feel traumatized by the whole thing.

Just then he heard his phone ring. It was his father, Talmanesier II king of the sovereign state of Mondosh.

"Hello Dad."

"Hello son. News have reached me that you have ended your quest for a wife, and you have returned back to your duties with the Mondoshi army, is that true?"

Romeo was surprised, not because his father knew about his return to the army headquarters but he was surprised at how quick his father who was at the capital Muchet which was far away from Yilaburg were he (Romeo) was presently knew about his whereabouts.

Was he supposed to be surprised?

"Yes Dad, I am back to the army headquarters but I haven't resumed my military duties as major general yet…"

"Good son. I don't have time but I want to tell you this. We are in perilous times and David Gautman the leader of Harte Boer has declared war on Mondosh."

Romeo was surprised. "But Harte Boer is a state under your leadership. It is part of Mondosh."

"They claim to be victims of marginalisation and they wish to rebel and fight against us for their independence. They have gathered allies, and some corrupt members of my cabinet including Lord Baines Hitzpier are sponsoring their agenda."

"What?"

"Information has also reached me that his son Andrew Baines is a spy for the Harte Boer. You must be careful."

"I will father."

"On that note I hereby elevate you from the rank of Major General to General."

"Thanks Dad."

"I have also dissolved the civilian government of Dr Aaron Bautmeger and I hereby install you as Military governor general of Yilaburg."

"Wait dad, is that official? The dissolution of Dr Aaron Bautmeger's government?"

"Um not yet, but I intend to make it official tomorrow morning."

"Um dad, I would like to work behind the scenes here, besides there would be tensions among the citizens here in Yilaburg when the military takes power."

"That is your own business, it is an understanding that you and Aaron Bautmeger would need to have."

"I would see him tomorrow morning and discuss the matter with him concerning how we would go about the leadership of the state."

"Suit yourself Romeo, however I have sent the sum of twenty billion dollars for the war effort and for your personal use."

"Thanks Dad."

"Also for Lord Baines and his family, do as you please with them."

Romeo smiled satisfactory with his eyes burning with anger and revenge.
