Chapter 8

"Fire Magic, your father's basic element, will be passed on to you. As for the other basic elements, you might be able to obtain them. Keep trying, that's the key."

The mother's voice echoed in Samuel's brain. Just before the next attack started. Thanks to this, Samuel was determined.

Not to get killed now.

There were still many things Samuel wanted to accomplish and he couldn't stop here. When things hadn't even begun.

"You know what can get you killed? Underestimating your enemy without knowing anything about them." Samuel made a sound as the dust from the ground disappeared.

There, a bespectacled, red-eyed, cheek-marked Samuel stood staring at his enemy. The attack had been successfully repelled by a barrier.

A protective force of fire. It was round, thin, and red.

"It's my turn now, isn't it? Attack you, Pedon boy." Samuel grinned and pointed a hand at his enemy.

There was no time. Samuel had to use his strength immediately with a deadly attack. He could not stay in this state for long.

Besides the heat on his cheeks, using too much power for too long could exhaust Samuel. He had even fainted under unexpected circumstances.

"Aarghh!" the student shouted, startling the others on the hill.

They looked at each other with question marks on their faces.

Thankfully. One attack could return the student to his former physique. So Samuel could return to his normal form.

"Don't kill me! I'll tell you anything as long as you don't kill me!"

"Unfortunately, I don't care." Samuel dragged the student's body.

"Please, I still want to live. I will at least respect your wishes, whatever they may be. Please ...."

Hearing this, Samuel was reminded of the past. He used to ask like that, not to be killed. But the reality was that he died anyway.

Why should Samuel grant this person's wish when his wish to live was not granted in the past?

It felt unfair.

"Relax, it's not me who will kill you." Samuel smiled when he saw a cave.

"Thank you, I promise to repay you. After that, we should meet often, how about becoming friends? I have a lot of money, if you want I can give it to you."

Once inside the cave, Samuel saw a lot of small slime on the ground and covered the student's face with the enemy's hand. He didn't want to touch the slime.

In fact, it was no ordinary slime. As a newborn slime child, it takes a few days for the slime to take shape, and before that, it is just slime.

It was rare for people to know this. Besides being called the weakest monster, slime was also a bit disgusting.

"Yes, do what you want. I'll let you off here. Good luck, huh? Don't forget to give me your money," Samuel said with a bright smile.

"You really let me go? Thank you, you're like an angel. I'm lucky to have met you!"

Samuel couldn't help but laugh. He left the man without saying anything. With a happy face, of course.

"Even if you survive the slime rampage." Samuel continued once he was outside the cave.

Samuel set him free, but not by killing him. He didn't want to get his hands dirty killing a little pest. Letting the monster do it was the easiest way.

Besides, there was no evidence that Samuel had killed the student. All the evidence was on the slime.

"It seems to have started," Samuel said from a distance, seeing many slime entering the cave.

A man's scream began to sound. So melodious and dramatic. A melody that could never be heard except to torment others.

"I'm sure you regret saying that. Lucky to meet me? Yes, because I'm neither a good person nor a fool. That's too bad.

And an angel? I am indeed an angel... of death."

The wind made Samuel's hair move, following the direction of the wind, and the black eyes without glasses continued to stare in one direction. Toward the cave where many students were slowly gathering.

They probably followed the source of the voice out of curiosity.

"I should get back, it's going to be crowded here for a while." Samuel put on his glasses and left.

What was that? It couldn't be. Samuel had only used his powers briefly, why was he feeling dizzy now? The view ahead was blurry.

"Hey, kid. You're blocking the door!" the guard yelled, tapping Samuel on the shoulder.

Samuel fell just as the guard tapped him. He was unconscious.

For reasons unknown.

"Are you awake? The Professor told you not to get hurt, so what now? You fainted right in front of the slime door. You little brat," Professor Geni said when Samuel opened his eyes.

He was in the medical room. Samuel thought he was in the chair by the door, usually when he fainted he was put there.

So it was a bit of a surprise to find himself in the infirmary.

"Did I really faint? I'm sorry Professor, it was an unexpected condition. There was a tragedy in the mountain. A student was killed by a slime. Maybe that's why I fainted." Samuel put on his glasses and leaned against the back of the bed.

"Really? How could that happen? Slimes are weak monsters, there's no way they can kill, let alone cause a tragedy. I have to check ...."

"Sometimes what we think is weak turns out to be very strong. It's best not to underestimate anything, we don't know the true strength of the "weak".

Will the professor check it out personally? How about now? I'll rest here." Samuel smiled gently.

"Are you okay here alone? The professor doesn't feel comfortable leaving you alone, how about after you fall asleep?" asked Professor Geni with a worried expression.

Why was it so difficult to convince this person? Samuel needed to be alone here to retrieve the recording device that was placed under one of the beds.

"Professor, if you keep acting like this, I feel like a burden. It's preventing the professor from seeing the incident firsthand, where the student could have been saved. Are you still not willing to leave?" asked Samuel, looking at Professor Geni with a smile.

"Right, well, if you feel any pain, remember to push the button on the wall, okay? The professor will be here soon. Make sure you get enough rest. Don't think about the class, the teacher has already been told.

Get enough rest and take care of your health, okay?"

Professor Geni stroked the top of Samuel's hair before she left. She also kept looking at Samuel as if she was reluctant to leave.

"Ha... annoying. Where is it?" asked Samuel, standing up and looking at the beds in the infirmary.

If I remember correctly, Samuel had placed it on the bed by the window. As Samuel sat on the edge of the bed, he looked down briefly to place the recorder.

During this time, Samuel was sure that no one saw his movements.

"Finally ...." Samuel crouched down to look under the bed.

The result was quite surprising. There was nothing there. Under the bed was clean, as if someone had taken it away.

But who? Who was that bastard?

"Are you looking for this?"
