Chapter twenty two

Jane sauntered into the police station, her designer heels clicking on the worn linoleum. She flashed a saccharine smile at the officer behind the desk, her eyes gleaming with malice.

What Parker just told her still made her uneasy, and the shock had not worn off her. But she had another plan to safeguard herself.

It doesn't matter whether Jaxson was engaged or not. She had to get him back, and she was confident that he would.

Jane smiled again. Men were tools for her to play with. Plus, she had already dated Jaxson in the past. It wouldn't be hard to get him to submit to her.

"Visiting my father, Vance," she cooed, handing over her ID.

The officer nodded, unaware of the venom lurking beneath Jane's polished exterior.

As she entered the cell, Vance looked up from his cot, his eyes weary from days of detention. "Jane, what brings you here?"

Jane's smile twisted. "Just thought I'd drop by and share some...enlightening news, Father dear."
