CHAPTER 6
"I was quite sad not to see you at our wedding. I wish you could have come and blessed us."
Desmond laughed at Jayden's words. He seemed to be trying to keep his cool, even though he wanted to crush Jayden. Desmond came down the stairs, facing Jayden more closely.
"After seeing it up close, that arrogance you hide behind your mask looks even more annoying," Desmond said.
"Really?" retorted Jayden, "even though I'm not wearing any masks and have nothing to hide from you."
"So you're going to openly show your desire to destroy me? Is that why you married my daughter?"
Medeia gave Jayden and her father a worried look. Jayden said, "Do you know why someone would share a bus seat even with a stranger? It's because they have the same goal." Desmond gave Medeia a cold, cynical glance, making her lower her head even more.
"I'm not surprised. Even from the beginning, I understood that the baluch would still grow into an obstacle, but at least I'm glad that it has found a new host."
Medeia did not show her face, which was dumbfounded by Desmond's words about how Desmond had called her a parasite.
Medeia could not speak, but she could hear. She understood very well what Desmond meant, and it still hurt her heart. But Jayden grasped her hand, making Medeia turn her attention from the painful words to Jayden's face.
"Let's stop talking about the farm; I don't want to learn about your field's condition. By the way, I came here to bring my wife's things," Jayden said. Desmond laughed, mocking him.
"Looks like your wife doesn't want to leave her house yet."
"No, don't get her wrong. I didn't come to get her clothes. Because you know, I can give her all of her clothes from the luxurious store, and even I can clean her entire body from the smell of this house that clings to her." Desmond gave Jayden a sharp look. "I still appreciate how she sees this house as the place where she grew up with her mother; therefore, I escorted her to retrieve the things she considered precious. After she took them out, at least I don't have any obstacles to destroying this place."
Desmond tried to maintain his pride, but he looked like he was holding back his anger. Jayden passed Desmond without being stopped, walking the stairs to Medeia's room upstairs—in the attic.
Jayden did not think that he had made the right decision by marrying Medeia. Although he originally intended to use this marriage as revenge, at least he had saved Medeia from the torturous life she had lived in this house.
"Look at how she wasn't treated well in her father's house. Why does she have to sleep in the attic when this spacious house has so many rooms?" Jayden said, climbing the stairs without caring about Desmond, who was still looking at him sharply.
Suddenly someone ran quickly down the stairs and passed Jayden. When the man realized and immediately turned around, he saw Allen Moore running towards Medeia, who was still downstairs, and slapped her hard.
SLAP! Jayden glared and rushed downstairs, trying to protect Medeia from Allen's fury.
"What an ignorant brat! Did you grow up to betray your own family?" Allen said, gripping Medeia's shoulders firmly while shaking her. "You ruined my daughter's life! What shame! I should have never accepted you into this house."
Medeia was tormented, struggling to protect herself. But just as Allen was about to slap her again, Jayden held her hand back first and grasped it firmly. Jayden looked at Allen coldly and said, "Get away from my wife right now."
"Hah, this is hilarious. This loser wants to act like a hero in the wrong place," Allen said, dismissing Jayden's hand. "Do you think things will change just because you tell everyone that you're the Gracehill heir who's been pretending to be poor? You think that's going to make me fear and favor you? Don't dreaming! You're still a loser in my eyes!"
"I didn't expect you to do that, ma'am. I knew someone like you wouldn't be able to do it." Jayden approached Allen and looked at her sharply as if he were giving a warning. "You won't realize how low you've sunk until you see your hands full of mud."
"Are you threatening me? How dare you?"
"Glad you understand. At least I've given you a chance to get ready." Jayden stood in front of Medeia, protecting the woman, who was silently holding back tears. "And I'll tell you, Medeia isn't a Moore anymore; she's the daughter-in-law of the honorable Gracehill family. I hope you don't treat her as harshly as you used to, because I could charge you with violence, and I'll make sure you're punished for presumptuously touching my wife."
Allen was furious and felt humiliated. "She's just a useless child! Why...?" The woman muttered, and her hands clenched into fists in annoyance.
Jayden turned around and looked at Medeia. The woman's eyes were teary, but what made Jayden angry was when he saw the scratch marks on her beautiful face. It was their wedding day, and the bride's makeup had to remain perfect.
"Huft...." Jayden sighed, taking Medeia's hand to leave. "It looks like my decision to come to my in-laws' house was completely wrong. This place is so wild and horrible."
Jayden then walked away from the house and didn't care anymore about his intention to take Medeia to get her mother's things.

Jayden lived in a luxury apartment with Medeia. They've been married for a week, but Medeia didn't feel any warmth. Jayden was a good husband. He was understanding, and he gave Medeia everything she needed. It was just that they didn't marry for love in the first place, so it was only natural that there was no warmth in their marriage.
Medeia couldn't ask for more because Jayden would make her wishes come true, and he seemed very busy getting what he and Medeia wanted.
"Medeia, do you need anything?" Jayden asked. He had just gotten home from work and finished taking a bath, but he asked that question when he saw Medeia sitting on the couch with the television on; she was musing.
Medeia shook her head, then picked up a paper and pen as Jayden sat down next to her.
"Tell me if you need anything or if something is bothering you," Jayden said.
Medeia replied, "I've been thinking a bit about my mom's things that are still in my room."
Jayden just remembered. He had been so busy working in the office after living as a pauper for so long that he had forgotten to tell Medeia.
"Ah, I forgot to tell you. I already got permission to take your things after your stepmother kept forbidding my people to go in and get them for you. It's a good thing Amber was a little pushy; otherwise, Allen might have burned your things."
Medeia was surprised to hear that.
"Don't worry, nothing was damaged. Amber came just in time."
"Please convey my thanks to Miss Amber."
Jayden smiled as he read it. "Yes, I will," he said, and Medeia replied again.
"So, when will the stuff arrive? I'm going to clean up the room to place them." Jayden smiled straight; he forgot to tell Medeia one more thing.
"Medeia I think it's best if we do the packing."
"Why?"
"Grandpa's assistant intercepted Amber and ordered her to take all your stuff to the mansion. To grandpa's house."
"What does that mean?" Medeia looked worried.
"It means we'll be living at Grandpa's house."
Medeia was shocked and confused, as she remembered that Benjamin hated her and her marriage to Jayden.
"I was also a little surprised when I heard it this morning, but Grandpa is an annoying person and unpredictable. He said he would dump me for marrying you but secretly told me to stay at his house," Jayden said, sounding like a small protest. He stood up and was about to get dressed. "We're leaving tomorrow. Do you need help packing? Or I'll send someone to pack your things."
Medeia shook her head and quickly wrote. "I'll pack my things myself."
Jayden nodded. "Alright." Jayden went to his room, and he did not sleep in the same room as Medeia.
That was his decision for Medeia, who married him, not out of love. He would not touch Medeia without her permission.
Ring! Ring! Jayden glanced at his ringing cell phone as he opened the closet. Jayden saw who was calling him this late, and it was Yohan, his grandfather's assistant.
"Yohan, what's wrong? Why are you calling me this late?"Jayden paused, and his eyes slowly widened when he heard what Yohan said on the telephone.
"WHAT? GRANDPA?"
CHAPTER 7Jayden ran down the deserted hospital hallway, rushing towards the front of the ICU room where Yohan was waiting for him. "Young master...." Yohan stood up and approached Jayden, who looked panicked and confused. Anyone in Jayden's position would probably panic and not expect anything like him. Jayden did not think that there would be a robber who entered Benjamin's room and hurt him. "Grandpa...." "The medics are still trying to heal him." "Is it worse?" asked Jayden. Yohan didn't answer, and Jayden saw his expression. That was enough to answer his question. Jayden approached the door of the ICU room and saw the busy medics, moving quickly to save Benjamin, who had been injured badly. Jayden could not see his grandfather's face, but just looking at the amount of blood around the bed where Benjamin lay, Jayden could already tell how serious the situation was right now. Jayden moved away from the door, looking very anxious, tense, and somewhat confused. "What exactly h
CHAPTER 8Jayden was in Benjamin's room, sitting on the chair that Benjamin usually sat on while working. As a result of the violent robbery incident, Benjamin was left in a coma. A severe head injury was the reason, and Jayden took over Benjamin's position as the leader in the family and in the company. The police stated that the incident was a robbery, and they were trying to find the perpetrator even though it seemed a little harder."It feels like it was a ghost and not a robber that entered my grandpa's room," Jayden said, still thinking about the robbery. "There's no footage of the robber entering, passing through the corridor, or being near Grandpa's room. Judging by the number of items missing, it's thought that only one robber entered." Jayden laughed a little, but what he was thinking was no joke. "If it's not a ghost, then what kind of professional would have broken into Grandpa's room that night? He also did it under 12 p.m., while most robbers would break into their ta
CHAPTER 9The reality of life began to dawn on Jayden again. He was finding himself trapped in a circle of enemies."I am convinced that someone is trying to lay hands on Granddad and the problem is the difficulty in figuring out who this culprit is." His voice was shaking as he wondered who could be after his grandfather's life."We must give this piece of information to the police as it would be helpful for investigation. Or what do you think?" Brian asked, trying so hard to maintain the line of conversation and keep Jayden from slipping into thoughts."At this point, I have terrible trust issues," Jayden scoffed. "I cannot stop imagining that even the police are involved in the failed murder attempt of my Grandfather. The two questions that cannot leave my mind are; Who and Why?"The two men stared into the night quietly only the sound of their breathing filling the vacuum. "Where is my wife, Medeia?""The last time I saw her, she was taking a quiet walk in the garden. She seems a
CHAPTER 10How it began was Jayden thinking through and finally accepting the fact that he is the head of the Conglomerate and deciding purposefully that he had to start running the affairs of the company even though he was neither prepared nor willing to do so.He talked extensively with Nora and Brian they advised that he had to first set up a board meeting where he would issue the new order of things. "I would love to see Aunt Hellena's face when I break the news to her that she no longer has a place in this company unless I decide otherwise," Jayden muttered to himself. "The woman's wings need to be clipped."Brian and the others exchanged glances and laughed out hard. They admired their young master and loved his ways of coming back at his enemies."But I suggest you have to tighten up security young master Jayden, as this new order could shake things up a bit for the business security-wise," Brian suggested."Very correct! Grandpa Benjamin is feared and his name injects fear but
CHAPTER 11The morning sun cast its golden rays on the walls of the luxurious room where Jayden and his bride, Medeia lay.Her hair danced around in unison with the gentle breeze and Jayden could not help but admire how subtle her beauty was.“Wake up sleepy head,” he whispered gently into her ears, nibbling them afterwards.Medeia smiled and her eyes gradually fell open. She gazed at him with admiration and hope.“How was your night?” She nodded with a smile; her own way of saying fine. The fact that her speech was impaired annoyed Jayden sometimes especially when he desperately needed to have long conversations with her.“I could figure out something for your situation, Babe. Maybe a mechanical voice or something of sort to ease your stress of writing down anytime you need to speak to me.”Her eyes widened with shock and she sat up straight on the mattress. Her writing pad was beside her and she picked it up and began to scribble down something hastily.“There is a solution. But my
CHAPTER 12“I will never accept the humiliation Jayden caused me on my beautiful day, mother! Something has got to be done about it, especially to that imbecile daughter of my father.” Bella ranted with so much agony, her eyes soaked with tears.“Bella, I am also unhappy with Jayden's attitude to you. Even if he had a thing or two against you, the embarrassment was too much for you and our family. He treated us like scums; like piece of shit.” Allen was embittered and her voice carried the weight of her bitterness.“And you are being cool towards the situation? Now, Medeia had a fairytale wedding and no one interrupted hers. And I was forced to accept shame. Because I am his ex and he wanted to rub it off on me that I lost.”She sobbed longer and harder.“Revenge is best served cold, Bella. Give it time. Medeia can have a beautiful laugh now but you will laugh last and best.”“I am not letting it go mother!” Bella replied sharply with a shrilling tune. “I am going to pay Meieda an un
CHAPTER 13“Ladies and gentlemen, I am honoured to have you all here at the reintroducing and announcement of the acting CEO; Mr Jayden Gracehill.” The company secretary; a stout man with pot belly and a bald head stood before the rest of the board members.Everyone adjusted in their seats. Some clapped, some kept their hands in angry fists. “How deserving is he?” Lord Barrack asked with a stern gaze at Jayden. “Isn't he the same Grandson whom was caught in scandals?” He asked, this time looking away from Jayden. Jayden shook his head and smiled arrogantly.“I was not caught in any scandals, Lord Barrack. I only decided to carve my own niche for myself. I did not want to simply live like a royalty without earning it through hard work.”“Then you decided to live in the streets Sweint City like a pauper? A commoner?” Tom Hardy asked. He was the youngest member of the board; the son of another well known business mogul.Jayden smiled again. “Your lack of understanding of such things do
CHAPTER 14A piercing Silence filled the boardroom. No one could utter a word. Jayden became uneasy, thinking it had to do with the fact that he probably spoke gibberish.“I cannot imagine that we had such a bright idea and it was kept away from us for all these years…” Sir Thompson appraised with a robust smile.“As much as I hate the fact that I am saying this, that was a fine presentation young man. I am impressed,” Lord Barrack added with a stern look on his face.“This is a really top-notch idea and cannot be ignored. We have to look into it and accept it. I just hate that this came when Lord Benjamin is confined to medical observation. What a tragedy.”Everyone had a thing to say about the presentation and it was all about commendation except the ones whose hearts were beginning to breed jealousy against Jayden; Hellena and Hardy.“If this idea is already this refined, then what is the delay in execution?” Sir Thompson inquired.“A vote from the members of the board. I could ha
