SON IN-LAW OF MOORE

CHAPTER 6

"I was quite sad not to see you at our wedding. I wish you could have come and blessed us."

Desmond laughed at Jayden's words. He seemed to be trying to keep his cool, even though he wanted to crush Jayden. Desmond came down the stairs, facing Jayden more closely.

"After seeing it up close, that arrogance you hide behind your mask looks even more annoying," Desmond said.

"Really?" retorted Jayden, "even though I'm not wearing any masks and have nothing to hide from you."

"So you're going to openly show your desire to destroy me? Is that why you married my daughter?"

Medeia gave Jayden and her father a worried look. Jayden said, "Do you know why someone would share a bus seat even with a stranger? It's because they have the same goal." Desmond gave Medeia a cold, cynical glance, making her lower her head even more.

"I'm not surprised. Even from the beginning, I understood that the baluch would still grow into an obstacle, but at least I'm glad that it has found a new host."

Medeia did not show her face, which was dumbfounded by Desmond's words about how Desmond had called her a parasite.

Medeia could not speak, but she could hear. She understood very well what Desmond meant, and it still hurt her heart. But Jayden grasped her hand, making Medeia turn her attention from the painful words to Jayden's face.

"Let's stop talking about the farm; I don't want to learn about your field's condition. By the way, I came here to bring my wife's things," Jayden said. Desmond laughed, mocking him.

"Looks like your wife doesn't want to leave her house yet."

"No, don't get her wrong. I didn't come to get her clothes. Because you know, I can give her all of her clothes from the luxurious store, and even I can clean her entire body from the smell of this house that clings to her." Desmond gave Jayden a sharp look. "I still appreciate how she sees this house as the place where she grew up with her mother; therefore, I escorted her to retrieve the things she considered precious. After she took them out, at least I don't have any obstacles to destroying this place."

Desmond tried to maintain his pride, but he looked like he was holding back his anger. Jayden passed Desmond without being stopped, walking the stairs to Medeia's room upstairs—in the attic.

Jayden did not think that he had made the right decision by marrying Medeia. Although he originally intended to use this marriage as revenge, at least he had saved Medeia from the torturous life she had lived in this house.

"Look at how she wasn't treated well in her father's house. Why does she have to sleep in the attic when this spacious house has so many rooms?" Jayden said, climbing the stairs without caring about Desmond, who was still looking at him sharply.

Suddenly someone ran quickly down the stairs and passed Jayden. When the man realized and immediately turned around, he saw Allen Moore running towards Medeia, who was still downstairs, and slapped her hard.

SLAP! Jayden glared and rushed downstairs, trying to protect Medeia from Allen's fury.

"What an ignorant brat! Did you grow up to betray your own family?" Allen said, gripping Medeia's shoulders firmly while shaking her. "You ruined my daughter's life! What shame! I should have never accepted you into this house."

Medeia was tormented, struggling to protect herself. But just as Allen was about to slap her again, Jayden held her hand back first and grasped it firmly. Jayden looked at Allen coldly and said, "Get away from my wife right now."

"Hah, this is hilarious. This loser wants to act like a hero in the wrong place," Allen said, dismissing Jayden's hand. "Do you think things will change just because you tell everyone that you're the Gracehill heir who's been pretending to be poor? You think that's going to make me fear and favor you? Don't dreaming! You're still a loser in my eyes!"

"I didn't expect you to do that, ma'am. I knew someone like you wouldn't be able to do it." Jayden approached Allen and looked at her sharply as if he were giving a warning. "You won't realize how low you've sunk until you see your hands full of mud."

"Are you threatening me? How dare you?"

"Glad you understand. At least I've given you a chance to get ready." Jayden stood in front of Medeia, protecting the woman, who was silently holding back tears. "And I'll tell you, Medeia isn't a Moore anymore; she's the daughter-in-law of the honorable Gracehill family. I hope you don't treat her as harshly as you used to, because I could charge you with violence, and I'll make sure you're punished for presumptuously touching my wife."

Allen was furious and felt humiliated. "She's just a useless child! Why...?" The woman muttered, and her hands clenched into fists in annoyance.

Jayden turned around and looked at Medeia. The woman's eyes were teary, but what made Jayden angry was when he saw the scratch marks on her beautiful face. It was their wedding day, and the bride's makeup had to remain perfect.

"Huft...." Jayden sighed, taking Medeia's hand to leave. "It looks like my decision to come to my in-laws' house was completely wrong. This place is so wild and horrible."

Jayden then walked away from the house and didn't care anymore about his intention to take Medeia to get her mother's things.

Jayden lived in a luxury apartment with Medeia. They've been married for a week, but Medeia didn't feel any warmth. Jayden was a good husband. He was understanding, and he gave Medeia everything she needed. It was just that they didn't marry for love in the first place, so it was only natural that there was no warmth in their marriage.

Medeia couldn't ask for more because Jayden would make her wishes come true, and he seemed very busy getting what he and Medeia wanted.

"Medeia, do you need anything?" Jayden asked. He had just gotten home from work and finished taking a bath, but he asked that question when he saw Medeia sitting on the couch with the television on; she was musing.

Medeia shook her head, then picked up a paper and pen as Jayden sat down next to her.

"Tell me if you need anything or if something is bothering you," Jayden said.

Medeia replied, "I've been thinking a bit about my mom's things that are still in my room."

Jayden just remembered. He had been so busy working in the office after living as a pauper for so long that he had forgotten to tell Medeia.

"Ah, I forgot to tell you. I already got permission to take your things after your stepmother kept forbidding my people to go in and get them for you. It's a good thing Amber was a little pushy; otherwise, Allen might have burned your things."

Medeia was surprised to hear that.

"Don't worry, nothing was damaged. Amber came just in time."

"Please convey my thanks to Miss Amber."

Jayden smiled as he read it. "Yes, I will," he said, and Medeia replied again.

"So, when will the stuff arrive? I'm going to clean up the room to place them." Jayden smiled straight; he forgot to tell Medeia one more thing.

"Medeia I think it's best if we do the packing."

"Why?"

"Grandpa's assistant intercepted Amber and ordered her to take all your stuff to the mansion. To grandpa's house."

"What does that mean?" Medeia looked worried.

"It means we'll be living at Grandpa's house."

Medeia was shocked and confused, as she remembered that Benjamin hated her and her marriage to Jayden.

"I was also a little surprised when I heard it this morning, but Grandpa is an annoying person and unpredictable. He said he would dump me for marrying you but secretly told me to stay at his house," Jayden said, sounding like a small protest. He stood up and was about to get dressed. "We're leaving tomorrow. Do you need help packing? Or I'll send someone to pack your things."

Medeia shook her head and quickly wrote. "I'll pack my things myself."

Jayden nodded. "Alright." Jayden went to his room, and he did not sleep in the same room as Medeia.

That was his decision for Medeia, who married him, not out of love. He would not touch Medeia without her permission.

Ring! Ring! Jayden glanced at his ringing cell phone as he opened the closet. Jayden saw who was calling him this late, and it was Yohan, his grandfather's assistant.

"Yohan, what's wrong? Why are you calling me this late?"Jayden paused, and his eyes slowly widened when he heard what Yohan said on the telephone.

"WHAT? GRANDPA?"
