Jim’s gut wrenched as Victor walked away as a defeated man.

“I realized something today. Not all snakes slither in the wild,” Jim uttered. “Some walk among us.”

Lola just smirked at his words. “If you’re going to talk with the CEO, then why are you taking Jim with you?” Lola asked her daughter. “You should take someone like Austin, but why Jim? What do you think the CEO of Draknor Finance will think when you tell her he’s your husband and he came here just to tag along and pass time?”

Austin smiled big-time because Lola was roasting Jim very finely, and Rena looked very subservient to her mother.

“You have to appear extra professional when you’re dealing with big clients, Rena,” Lola told her. “That’s how you’re going to separate yourself from the crowd and stand out. Because you’re a woman, you have to be even more strict with yourself to stand out more than men. If you understand that, then go and talk with the CEO without Jim.”
