“Get away from me! Let me go!” Lucy’s voice resonated from a distance, causing Jack to lift his head toward the direction he heard her voice from.

“Lucy…” He said with a whisper, looking at Lucy who was struggling to free herself from the tight grip of the creature that had gotten a hold of her long blonde hair, and almost pulled her down forcefully.

“Jack! Jack! Help! My hair!”

Jack

Jack dragged out the blade from the heart of the creature, and it fell backward, sprawling on the grass, and causing the little insects on the ground to flee for safety.

“Jack! Jack!”

“I am coming,” Jack said with a faint voice, and after he had quickly taken in a deep breath which he let out sharply, he stood up with the help of his blade, and dashed toward Lucy who had fallen face-down to the ground while the screecher above her still attempted to drag her upward by her hair.

The distance between the point where Jack took off from and the spot where Lucy lay wasn’t so close, but he maintained a h

The screecher turned backward to look at Jack who was still holding onto its tail, and in order to get him away from its body, it flew toward one of the trees, hoping to bash his head against the dry body of the huge tree. Jack looked ahead as soon as he saw that the screecher had increased its speed, and when he saw that the creature was heading for a tree in an attempt to crash him against it, he thought of a way to get away from the situation that could really hurt him or even end his life. For the third time, he stabbed the creature with his energy blade, but the determinant creature only screeched in pain and continued moving higher and higher without any plans to change direction. Seeing that his plan of causing the creature to let go of Lucy wasn’t working out, Jack decided to try another way of getting away from the impending peril that was getting closer and closer to him. He looked downward, hoping to let go of the tail of the screecher so that he could fall to the groun

“Why don’t you let her go you silly creature?” Jack said angrily while he continued running after the screecher who wasn’t aware that he had gotten down from the tree. “I am coming, Lucy,” Jack said calmly while he increased the speed of his legs, making use of the strength and speed boosters that helped him to catch up with the creature that had to slow down as a result of the deep injury it had on its left eye. He jumped up really high and grabbed the tail for the second time and since the screecher was still in pain and had little strength left in it, it couldn’t go higher than it already was. “Get down! You are not going anywhere!” Jack dragged the screecher down with his left hand, and when the creature realized that it could no longer keep up with the struggle, it let go of Lucy who almost fell to the ground if not for the timely intervention of Jack who quickly let go of both the tail of the creature and his energy blade and grabbed her before she fell to the ground. “I've

Jack remained the way he was, looking at the two elves who were acting really strange. Nothing they did made sense to him, and he dared not to make any move for fear of being attacked with their sharp weapons that were tightly gripped in their hands. “Start talking! Who are you?” Sierra asked while Jack scoffed loudly without being certain of the right response he was supposed to give to her. “Guys? What is happening? I don’t know what you are talking about.” “You better start talking or I will reap your heart out with my spear!” Vince threatened, moving toward Jack who leaned backward as soon as he saw the sharp edge of the weapon getting closer to him. “What are you guys doing? If this is a joke, you need to stop it, okay?”“This is not a joke! How did you know that those were screechers?” “Because Seth told me! Seth told me that they were screechers!” Jack responded at once, and then he turned around to look for Seth who was still hiding behind the tree where he left him. “Li

Suddenly, Lucy groaned loudly, and then they all turned to look at her. “Lucy! You are awake!” “Take your hands off her! Take your hands off her!” Vince ordered Jack who grabbed Lucy on her shoulders the moment he realized that she was awake, and he was forced to let her go when he saw that the elves were ready to attack him if he didn’t. “Lucy? Are you okay?” Vince asked with a low tone while Sierra moved closer to her while pointing her weapon at Jack who moved away at once. “Lucy? Are you okay?” Sierra asked while Lucy sat up, and touched the back of her head while she grunted lowly. “I feel a sharp pain at the back of my head. It hurts.” Lucy grunted again, and Sierra moved closer to her before she withdrew her arrow from her bow, and returned it to the quiver hanging behind her. “Come, let me help you stand.” Sierra grabbed Lucy by her arms, and helped her to get on her feet while she kept a close eye on Jack who was a bit afraid of making any move since Vince was still poi

Jack took about ten steps before he suddenly stopped when a thought occurred to him, causing him to turn to look at the others who were staring at him. “Where is Dwayne?” He said with his brows lifted, and that was when it came to the realization of everyone that the other elf was nowhere to be found. “Dwayne?” Sierra called out to him while she looked around, but when she realized that her voice wasn’t audible enough, she decided to clear her throat in order to speak louder. “Dwayne! Dwayne! Where the hell is he?” She continued, scouring the large area in search of the elf who was not seen. “Dwayne! Dwayne! Where are you?” Vince joined his sister in calling out to him, and when he couldn’t get any response, he turned to look at Seth whom he gave an inquisitive stare. “What? Why are you looking at me like that?” Seth asked instantly, looking at Vince who refused to take his eyes away from him. Then others joined almost immediately, and it became obvious that Vince wasn’t the onl

“I am not acting like a baby! Why would you say that?” “Yes, you are! Centaurs are brave and fierce warriors, and I wonder why you decided to come on this mission if you knew that you couldn't handle a few risks. You should have stayed back in the city and enjoyed the wrath of Lord Rasmus!” Sierra fired angrily, glaring at Seth who couldn’t say any other word. He felt a cringe of embarrassment creeping into his body, and when he looked at the others, he saw that they weren’t so pleased that he was behaving that way. It was obvious that they were very disappointed, and were upset at his behavior. “Let’s go, guys. I think he will join us whenever he is ready. Or better still, he should get the bags and stay where he thinks is safe.” Vince started to move toward Lucy who was already ahead of them, and after Sierra had rolled her eyes at the Centaur, she joined her brother and caught up with him. Seth looked at Jack who was the only one standing close to him and expected him to show h

Vince was the first to take a step backward as he was in front of everyone, and the sound was heard closer to him. “Did you guys hear that?” He asked with a whisper, turning to look at the others who kept quiet with their eyes scouring the entire place in search of anything that could be responsible for the sound. The sound was really fast like the movement of an animal, and they couldn’t detect where it went to as it ran across them in a flash.“What was that?” Seth asked with a shaky voice, but no one said anything as they continued to turn around in search of what they knew nothing about. “Everyone should remain calm.” Jack said amidst the silence that was accompanied by so much tension that lingered in the air. Suddenly, the sound came back again, but this time, it was a bit slower and happened where they were not looking, causing them to turn around instantly to know what had made the sound, but they saw nothing. “Guys? I think someone is here with us, we are not the only on

Even though they still had their doubts, the rest of the crew saw sense in what she said, especially considering the fact that their bodies were beginning to ache as a result of the frozen position they kept themselves in after they had done a lot of exercises from their encounters with the Screechers from earlier. “I am tired, guys. Whatever it was should either show up or continue hiding in the woods, I don’t care.” Lucy gave up almost immediately, and then she slowly lowered her weapon while she took in a deep breath which she let out slowly. The rest of the crew joined her almost immediately while she walked toward her right with her dagger hanging in her left hand while she held onto it casually. “I guess she was right, after all, it was a false alarm,” Sierra said calmly and with a smirk on her face. She slowly took off the arrow from the string on her bow, and then she sighed before looking at her brother who lowered his weapon almost immediately. The two elves turned to lo

We all came here together, we should leave together.” Vince looked around as though he was expecting to see Dwayne, and when he didn’t see any sign of him, he shook his head and sighed heavily. “Did he go with anything?” Sierra said with a low tone, looking at Jack who quickly understood why she was looking at him.“The medallion!” He reached for his Pocket at once, and as soon as he felt the medallion, he sighed heavily, giving others a reason to remain calm. “I don’t know if he is going to be able to make it on his own, guys. You all saw the way his body looked. I don’t think he will be able to be out there on his own. This dimension is full of monsters.” Lucy said with a tone laced with so much concern, but Sierra scoffed almost, with a look of disdain on her face. Lucy stared at her with a little surprise in her eyes, wondering why she was still the way she was. She seemed to be the only pe

  • chapter 140

For the first time ever since they left the city for the dimension in search of the medallion, the adventurers slept like babies, with a little relief in their minds. All of a sudden, they had forgotten that they were in am area where monsters and creatures of all kinds nestled. Nothing else mattered at that time, not even the fact that they weren’t sure of how to go back. Jack was the first to wake up at the first flicker of dawn. He blinked his eyelids several times to get rid of the weakness that tried to shut his eyes just before he stretched and yawned, pushing himself up while he groaned loudly. He could see that the sun was shining brightly, but the strange color of the dimension still remained the same, different from that of Earth. Right beside him was Lucy who was still sound asleep, enjoying the cool breeze that perched on her face. She smiled while she was fast asleep, and Jack could tell that she was having the most amazing dream.

“Guys? None of you is saying anything! You can’t just keep quiet about this, whatever decision we are making, I think we need to make it together.” Jack said calmly while he looked at Lucy whose eyes were saying more words than her mouth at that time. He could see from the look in her eyes that she wanted him to pass judgment that would be very easy for him to endure. She was even willing to let go and hoped that everyone was going to agree with her even though she knew that it was going to be very difficult, especially with Sierra involved. Lucy was the most compassionate among all the adventurers, she was merciful and kind, and could easily be made to react to very emotional situations. Her eagerness to react to such things made her the weakest link to them, and she didn’t even know about it. “I think we should let go of everything he has done to us, and move on. After all, we already have found the medallion, and it doesn’t look like we are going to

Dwayne looked at his companions one after the other, and when he saw that they were paying attention while they surrounded him, standing at different corners, he sighed heavily before he went ahead to tell them what they had been longing to hear. “I am dying.” He said with a shaky tone, but his words came as a shock to his companions who didn’t know if they were to believe him him or not. Everyone had become very silent while they looked at Jack who began to come down slowly, looking at Lord Rasmus who threatened to kill Lucy and was serious about it,. He wasn’t mincing words, and Lucy was aware of this as well. “You are wasting my time, boy! Hurry up at once, hand over the medallion, or she is dead!”“You will get the medallion! Don’t just hurt her! Don’t hurt her, okay?” Jack gestured to Lord Rasmus while he slowly came down, and the glow that covered him went off at once. The medallion fell into his hand, and he held it firmly while walking toward him. “Come on! Hand it over, now!” Lord Rasmus said imperatively while he had his eyes on the medallion, still holding onto Lucy who was still shivering under the influence of the fright that gripped her. Halfway to getting to Lord Rasmus, Jack noticed the presence of some shadowed creatures behind him, and he had to stop to be sure he wasn’t hallucinating. The figures disappeared almost as soon as they appeared, and Ja

I need you! Please…” She whimpered while she was still moving backward until she almost staggered to the ground. While Jack was still struggling to understand what was going on, he heard the sound of Lucy’s voice, and reacting to it, he turned abruptly to look at the soldiers who had gone after her, still hanging in the air.“Don’t get close to her!” He said angrily to the soldiers, but they ignored him, and grabbed Lucy at once, dragging her to Lord Rasmus while she struggled to free herself from the

At that moment, the strange sensation that engulfed Jack made him take two steps toward the tomb, but the soldiers who were focused on the tomb as well didn’t take notice of him. As the sensation became more intense, so did he increase his steps, moving gradually but with a constant pace while his eyes continued to gaze at the tomb. “Finally!” Lord Rasmus brightened his face as he approached the tomb as though his life depended on it. He got very close to it, and as soon as the soldiers moved farther away from the tomb, he reached into the tomb and grabbed the medallion with both hands, lifting it up into the air until everyone could see it. “This is the medallion?” Sierra said with a smirk on her face while she stared at the bronze medallion that was visible to every other person. She seemed a little bit disappointed at how small and ordinary the medallion, and she was almost about to regret coming on that mission for something like that. Jack saw this and wished he could make a move, but the soldiers standing close to him were already aware that he could not be overlooked and had their eyes on him. “What did you say?” “I said that they are going to raise the spirits of the dead kings! I come from a lineage of necromancers, and I know that the tombs of kings should never be desecrated in any way, no matter what. This could awaken their spirits, and they could come for retaliation.” Lucy said with a sh
