In the taxi, Reuben’s mind raced as he thought of how to piece together the events of the night of the anniversary party. Now he had to not only figure out Jason’s situation but Timothy’s as well.

He ran his fingers through his ginger locks when he heard his cell phone ring.

Reuben picked up his cell phone and saw that it was Andrew who was calling him.

Sighing, he picked up the call. “Andrew, what’s up?” he said in an overly animated tone. It was the same feigned tone that he always used to talk to the Sonvlairs, ever since Jason asked him to pose as an investor and friend to the family.

“Nothing much,” Andrew said. “I’m going to grab lunch; do you want to come? I could also give you those documents you asked for.”

Reuben furrowed his brow in frustration. Currently, he was on his way to visit Jason and tell him about Timothy’s condition, and seeing Andrew wasn’t part of his plans in the slightest.
