Chapter Twenty-Nine - Don't come home

Amelia got a bottle of Bourbon from her pantry along with two glasses and poured the liquid into them. She handed a glass to Jason and took a sip from the other.

“Thank you,” said Jason as he took the glass from her hands.

Jason took a sip and then began, “The truth is, you won't have to worry about what Diana would think about me spending the night here because..." He paused, finding it hard to complete the sentence, “We are getting divorced.”

Amelia’s eyes widened, and her expression shifted from casual interest to a mix of surprise and concern. She set down her drink, absorbing what Jason had just said. “Divorced?” she asked, her tone a blend of disbelief and something else that Jason couldn't quite read.

"Yes," he took a swig from his drink. “I don't want to dump all the details on you, but just know there's nothing for you to worry about."

Amelia nodded. “I'm so sorry, sir; this must be very difficult for you.”

Jason sighed “It's fine.” Jason said it with a sad smile.
