Road Through Damnation

Chapter 12

A Day Out 1

“Raven hurry up and put Drew in his clothes, if we waste another minute we would be terribly late.” Anna shook her head lightly at the thought of Drew’s mana circuit awakening. It was too early if someone were to ask her. She also felt like Drew had force that to happen.

This makes her to wonder if Drew was really a child because ever since he was born it was one weird shit after another. For example, Anna could always feel Drew’s gaze on her anytime he was around her. At most time Anna felt Drew’s gazes were discerning her.

Anna previously had asked Raven if she also felt Drew’s discerning looks and Raven replied yes. This made Anna ask herself is “Drew a child though”.

Whilst lost in her thought, Raven’s voice made Anna step out from her train of thoughts.

“Anna we are ready now, you can find us downstairs.” Raven’s voice echoed in the house showing her excitement for this outing. It was quite understandable because Raven had never visited any public place in this settlement.

Anna had banned her from interacting with people here because she knew there were many strong here. You could say that was another reason Anna decided to stay here.

Raven was hyped and hope everything would go well, she did not want anything to happen today. Anna could feel her excitement and prayed in her heart for everything to go well today.

Drew was also excited because we was finally out of the house and his baby prison. He wanted to see if he could spot other races in the market or the settlement. He also wanted to see if he could improve on his mana pathways using the dense mana in this region.

It seems Anna was the only person who was not hyped at all because of the lecherous gazes and name calling she was going to receive. She also expected a confrontation with the settlement head.

“HUFF.” With a loud breath Anna opened the door of the house and began to walk away from her corridor with Drew in her hands. Anna noticed Drew trying to stretch his neck to see what laid ahead of him. Anna found it strange again but decided to do what any mother will not do to a 1-month-old baby.

She raised him over her head and made sure Drew had a clear view of the passage they were about to take. The path they would take to the marketplace had a lot of wooden houses around it but there was always the inclusion of green in every house setting.

It made the settlement have a refreshing feeling and the mana quality was also denser and clearer here. This really highlighted the forestry region in which they were residing. Anna was having a tough time raising Drew over her head because of fear of dropping him. But Anna decided to hold unto Drew’s a little longer because she could sense his happiness from his mana fluctuations.

‘OMG, this place is really in another world.’ Drew shouted inwardly. He was amazed by what he saw, smelled, and felt. Just the chilling feel of the air made him feel calm and relaxed, he was also able sense a dense amount of mana around him. He just wished his mother would not let this outing be his last.

Anna began to feel happy when she felt Drew’s happiness. The saying that a parents’ joy is a child joy was clearly shown here.

“Raven you can go out and explore the settlement here. But please try not to kill anybody. If I feel you exuding any bloodlust, I will have no other choice than to unsummon you. Also try not to fight with the old people here they are monsters in human flesh but not more than us anyway. But please do not fight with them. Or else it might cause a stupid mess and we would have no choice than to move from here.”

“Okay Anna, I would try to abide by your rules and besides, I want to interact with those monsters here. They all feel strong and powerful, they are people who deserve our respect won’t you agree with me Anna.”

“Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, just get out of my sights Raven I need to buy somethings from the market.” Anna waved her hands at Raven as she left her corridor. This time Drew was safely tucked under Anna’s bosom preventing him from falling as Anna gave Raven the wave.

The fight they had the day before had completely been forgotten and now both Anna and Raven will try to co-habitat with each other until Drew grows up.

After a short while Anna stopped waving back at Raven and decided to head to the market to purchase some cooking ingredients and some dresses.

(A.N Name change alert, name change alert!!!!!)

“Good morning, Miss Linda.”

“Good morning, madam.”

Linda greeted a woman she meet on the way to the market.

“How are you and I hope your baby is well too?” The woman said flashing a bright smile at Anna.

“Yes, he is fine and healthy, and I am also fine by the grace of God. Hope you have a great today, Madam.” Linda said with a beautiful smile on her plump red lips.

There was a lot greetings happened on the way to the market making Linda’s headache a bit. She was pissed with all the greetings and all smiles coming her way. She knew one could harbor evilness behind a smile and her experiences in her childhood were splendid examples.

After 10 minutes of greetings and walking Linda finally reached the marketplace and bought all what she needed. She was in a hurry to leave the place because it smelled disgusting to her. But Drew had other plans because the market he visited had a certain bit of African magic to it.

The constant noisemaking, quarrels and fights between customers and traders and last but not the least the smelling dung of monsters made Drew remember his first visit to a local market in Ghana.

The marketplace was Circle, that place sold literally everything, from original products to fake products. Expensive phones such as iP8one and Samsang were sold for one-tenth of their prices here and those phones could be found on tables. The marketplace also sold a lot of concoctions which were used to treat all kinds of diseases. On a closer look Drew felt he saw a man selling a concoction for Coronavirus before the vaccine itself came out.

Drew felt at home in this place, but Anna thought otherwise because of the constant lecherous looks and the smell  of dung was not also helping the situation.

“Let’s head to the settlement head’s house Drew. I think he has waited long enough for me.” Anna kept walking as she told Drew her thoughts.

(A.N Guys I would be posting some side stories about Drew’s past life so be sure to read them and the market day at circle is going to be the first one so be sure to unlock more of my chapters to motivate me. Over and out.)
