The time slowly counted down towards the first hour and the participants were still no closer to getting out of the fog. Packs of fearless undead skeletons attacked the participants one wave after another and although individually the undead skeletons did not pose much of a threat, with their unimaginably daunting numbers, the participants were on the verge of being overrun.
Arran and Brianna were also fighting with all their might right now as they frantically tried their best to resist the attacks of the undead skeletons. With Arran's ability to control lightning, as well as his sensory abilities which helped the two of them in maintaining their mobility, the two of them were able to remain safe for the time being. But who knew how long this situation would last.
As the two of them fought with all they had, Brianna was also looking at the current situation.
Looking at the crowd of undead skeletons that came towards them from all sides, Brianna could feel her s
What is an ominous land? This was a term used to define a place where large amounts of negative energy of any kind gather. Not all lands with negative energy can be called ominous lands.Usually, ominous lands are naturally born due to outside interference and it takes countless years for any land to accumulate enough negative energy to be considered an ominous land. the requirements for this are fairly strict. In the case of an ominous land of death, it is a place where countless deaths had taken place over a long period of time to the extent that the death energy generated had reached a point where it is no longer possible to purify or dissipate naturally. The death energy that should have filled this land completely was instead hidden deep in the earth where it would absorb and nurture undead creatures leaving only a physical manifestation in the form of deep dark fog. That was the only way to explain things and in most cases, there would be no
Arran took a deep breath to calm his excited heart. The last thing Arran wanted was to be irrational right now. Putting a rein on his emotions, Arran turned to Brianna and said to her, "We should get moving, something big is about to come out of the ground soon and we don't want to be close to it when it does.""Besides, those annoying guys are back."Brianna was confused for a moment after hearing Arran's words. She was wondering who Arran was referring to as the annoying guys but soon she found out. Before Arran and Brianna could even move an inch, the two of them started hearing the sounds of something crawling on the ground. No, this was not just the sound of a single something crawling on the ground and it was more like there were a bunch of insects moving their tiny feet on the ground together in a unified fashion. The sound was loud and densely packed together and it made Brianna think about an ocean wave that was just coming to shore.<
"Hey, I'm being very serious over here Arran. You should really leave me behind and go ahead on your own. I'll really be okay so you don't have to worry."Brianna insisted that Arran leave her behind so that she would not be a burden to Arran whatsoever and he can focus on clearing this elimination round.Hearing as Brianna was still insistent on this, the smile on Arran's face gradually cooled, and replacing it was an indifferent look that Brianna had never seen before.Caught by surprise, Brianna had e feeling that she may have offended Arran in some way.Brianna wanted to apologize to Arran for that."Hey arr..."Just as Brianna was about to speak up, Arran immediately cut her off by saying."You really know how to look for trouble don't you?""What!" Brianna was stunned. She didn't know what Arran was talking about."I mean, you keep going on and on about me leaving you behind and leaving on my own so I assumed that
Smack!!Arran received a resounding slap across his face from Brianna leaving a bright red palm print visible on his cheek."I deserved that..." Arran sighed as he responded to be being slapped.Truth be told, Arran could not blame Brianna for slapping him. He knew that it was her way of retaliating against him for all the nasty things he had said to her. Even if Arran had only said those things to her to make her realize her current situation, it still did not hide the fact that Arran's words had been very hurtful.Being slapped in comparison to that was much lighter don't you think."Humph!" Brianna snorted and turned her nose up in the air in a regal manner depicting a noble lady of her status.Seeing as Arran was not going to hold that slap against her, Brianna was satisfied and so she said to him."It's good that you know your own fault. No matter the occasion it isn't right to make a lady cry you hear me. I'm doing this for your
Since the Clandestine Ethereal Physique was compatible with all types of energies, it made sense that Arran would not be negatively affected by the death energy surrounding him. In fact, instead of being weakened like any other living being, Arran was instead strengthened by the high concentration of death energy in this land. With the eruption that had just occurred, the death energy that was hidden inside the earth had now come up to the surface creating an ideal environment for the undead and this had inadvertently benefited Arran unknowingly.Nobody could have ever expected this, but even if this was the case, it did not mean that things would be easier for Arran from this point on.Despite the fact that Arran was able to retain his combat strength in this death energy infested land and he was even able to subconsciously absorb some of the energy that would have been poisonous to other living beings into his body, the fact remained that Arran was still a liv
Slaughter...There are a lot of ways to define this term and each way carried its own different meaning when used in a particular context. Some people define slaughter as the act of killing a large number of people in a cruel and unjust manner. some people also see slaughter as the act of killing a large number of animals for food.In fact, there are even some people who used the word slaughter to define the act of easily defeating an opponent in battle. All these definitions are correct in their own ways but at the same time, it did not go into the heart of what slaughter really meant.Simply put, slaughter is the act of killing in large numbers! It doesn't matter what you kill or how you do the killing or even for what purpose the killing is done for, so far as a person kills a large number of living creatures in a very short time or over a long period of time, then they are engaging in the act of slaughter. It was as simple as that
Elsewhere in the fog...Arran and Brianna were not the only ones facing a strengthened horde of undead creatures that were out for blood. All the other participants had to deal with this problem also. The only difference was how the other participants decided to deal with this issue.Unlike Arran and Brianna who had their own unique solutions to this situation, most of the other participants simply had ordinary means.Facing the erosion of death energy, the participants were like they had been exposed to a slow-acting poison that chipped away at a person's life gradually. The process was slow and unnoticeable at first but the longer the participants stayed in this environment filled with abundant death energy, the closer they were to their deaths. With their vitality being sucked away and their bodies getting weaker by the minute, most participants were in despair as to how to move forward. There were only a few participants who were still able to
The trio, Renee, Daphne, and Terrence were fighting off the undead horde while making a lot of noise so it was very easy for anybody to find out their location. All you needed to do was follow the sound of explosions and viola, there they were. That was exactly what Arran did, although he had already pinpointed their location before he had first started making his way towards them.Back when Arran had been scouting the path ahead of him, he had found out that there were a bunch of higher undead beings waiting for him up ahead. From the power he was sensing from them, Arran knew that they would be a little difficult to deal with especially since he would also have to face the assault of the other low-level undead creatures.Arran knew that given enough time, he would be able to defeat them but time was the one thing that everybody lacked in this elimination round. Arran did not want to waste too much time in dealing with a single high-level undead creature so he
