Watching intently from the window was Emma and Lucas who clung to her tightly.

When Richard left that night, Emma felt a weight lift from her chest.

“Is it really over this time?” she whispered.

Margaret then placed a hand on her daughter’s shoulder, tears streaming down her face.

“It is. I promise you, it is.”

Henry entered the house, his face tired but triumphant.

He knelt in front of Emma and Lucas. “You’re safe now. He’s not coming back, even if he does, he would never near you or hurt you guys in the future. I will protect you.”

They believed him because they saw how fearless he was and how much he is ready to defend them

They hugged him and he gave them assurances that he would never leave.

Over the following months, the family worked to rebuild not just their home but their trust in one another.

Therapy sessions became a regular part of their routine, most especially Lucas who had been hurt and traumatized by the whole situation.

Richard charged towards Henry with the knife, but Henry sidestepped and swung the crowbar’s heavy metal and it hit Richard’s arm. That gesture made the knife clatter to the ground, but Richard didn’t stop. He tackled Henry and the two men crashed to the ground. They began to struggle, grunts and gasps breaking the silence of the night. Henry managed to free himself, grabbing the crowbar again. He swung again as Richard lunged towards him and this time the blow caught Richard across the jaw and sent him flying backwards. Richard’s fall ended on a crooked rock, his body hitting the ground with a thud. He lay still, his chest heaving gasping for a few moments before falling silent. Henry stood over him, his breath was also trying to beat normally, the crowbar slipping from his hand. In the distance, the sound of sirens reached his ears, growing louder with each passing second. It turns out their neighbour across the street had called the police. The flashing red and bl

After their little escapades at the warehouse in Amsterdam, Netherlands they decided to go back to the mansion. The drive back home was silent, but the tension in the car was serious, everyone was thinking really hard of what to do next. Logan stared out the window, his mind replaying the events of the night. When they arrived at the estate, Terrence poured himself a glass of scotch, watching his son from across the room. Logan was as still as ice, he wasn't saying anything and from the looks of it, he had a lot troubling him. “You’re too quiet, Logan, speak your mind.” Logan turned to his father, his eyes sharp,he uttered; “He’s not just working for the Council. He believes in them, dad… like this is personal. Did you see the way he talked about their plans? He wasn’t just following orders.” Terrence’s expression darkened, but he didn’t respond immediately. Logan stepped closer, his voice rising. “You’re holding something back. You know more about this Council than yo

As planned, the convoy moved through the city at dusk, its movements deliberate. Logan was disguised as a driver and was monitoring the surroundings from within one of the trucks. Sean and his men shadowed the operation from unmarked vehicles, their communication lines crackling with updates. "Movement at 10 o’clock," Sean’s voice came through the earpiece. Logan tensed, his eyes scanning the street. A dark figure appeared on a rooftop, trailing the convoy like a predator stalking its prey. "It’s him," Sean confirmed. "He is making his move." "Wait for my signal," Logan whispered, his pulse quickening as he had no idea how this would end. As the convoy entered a narrow underpass, the stranger struck. A flash grenade exploded ahead, forcing the vehicles to halt. The stranger leaped down, his movements precise as he approached the lead truck. Logan stepped out, his hands raised; "Looking for something?" The stranger paused, a smirk playing on his lips. "Brave of you to sh

Meanwhile, Henry, who was in the car of the policemen who had arrested him, was quite composed, even surprising them. The squad car rolled through the empty streets, its siren now silent, leaving only the hum of the engine. Henry stared out the window, his mind racing, but outward he was calm. He trusted Margaret to reach out to Arnold Cage, but he also knew the risk involved in it. Mr Fletcher and Mr William D’Cruz were dangerous men, men who wouldn’t hesitate to eliminate threats, even if it meant targeting Henry’s family. That was his only worry, but at the moment he was glad that the man who threatened his family was dead. One of the officers glanced back at Henry, his eyes wondering, he then uttered; “You don’t seem like the average guy we pick up on a scene like that. What’s your story?” Henry met his gaze in the rearview mirror but said nothing. He wasn’t about to explain himself to someone who couldn’t help him out. The car slowed as they approached the station,

As the pieces of the plan began to fall into place, Margaret and the kids were taken away to the safehouse under the cover of darkness. Arnold’s contacts worked tirelessly to secure Henry’s release, leveraging his information to start dismantling the empire Fletcher and D’Cruz had built. The game was on, and for the first time, Henry wasn’t just surviving, he was fighting back. And he would do whatever it took to ensure his family’s future. ***** The safehouse where Margaret and here kids were taken to was a modest cabin nestled deep within the woods. Margaret sat by the small fireplace, holding Lucas close as Emma rested her head on her lap. The children had fallen silent, their earlier questions replaced by the weight of their mother’s tension. Margaret’s phone was on the table, the screen dark. She stared at it, hoping that it will light up with news of Henry. A knock on the door made her jump. She moved quickly but cautiously, glancing out the hole of the door.. A

Even though Henry was bound in chains, only the hope and thoughts of being reunited with his family filled his mind. All he had to do was survive long enough for the truth and his files which he had brought to the notice of Arnold. He hoped that it would be a great deal in bringing them (Mr Fletcher and William D'Cruz) down or better yet reducing them to naught. He longs for survival, and survive he would. Margaret as dawn broke woke up quickly. The children were still asleep, nestled close to her on the couch. Paul sat by the door, his gaze unflinching, even after a long night of standing guard. Her phone buzzed on the table, its vibration made everyone stay at alert. She grabbed it quickly, her heart leaping, not knowing what news awaits her. “Margaret, it’s Arnold,” came the calm, steady voice. “Arnold,” she breathed, her voice barely above a whisper. “What’s happening? Is Henry okay?” Arnold didn’t waste time. “Henry is safe, and we’re making progress. Fletcher and D

Terrence Bentley received a phone call from Arnold Cage that his brother William D'Cruz has been caught and was behind bars. He was surprised and delighted as well, he couldn't wait to go visit him behind bars. But that was going to wait until he dealt with a more huger problem. The team of the Bentley's worked throughout the night, crafting and trying to create breakthroughs as well as plans and how to bait them. This time they weren't going to give up for anyone or anything, they would see the Council burn, literally if it gets physical. They planted false leads in secured communication channels, ones that can't be tracked or deduced that it was a fake. So this particular set up was hinting at a supposed ledger containing the Council’s financial records. Sean’s men distributed the intel strategically, ensuring it would reach the right ears, which are the Council members. By morning, the bait was set waiting for their prey to fall into it. They can only hope it works this

Bullets rolled off the walls as Logan and Sean fought their way toward the exit. The Council’s operatives were relentless, their tactics precise and accurate. Straight to kill, no mercy. "Go!" Logan yelled, covering Sean as he moved toward the door. But as they reached the final corridor, a shot rang out, and Logan felt a very serious pain in his side. He staggered, clutching his ribs as blood seeped through his fingers. "No, Logan!!" Sean shouted, turning back instantly to grab him. "I’m fine," Logan gasped, his vision blurring. "Just keep moving!" Sean slung Logan’s arm over his shoulder, dragging him toward the exit as more Council operatives closed in. ***** Logan lay unconscious in a private wing of the Bentley estate, his breathing was shallow as medical staff worked to stabilize him and bring him back to conciousness. Sean stood outside the room, his face pale and downhearted as he relayed the events to Terrence. "We barely got out alive," Sean said. "It was

Hours later, under tight security and with immense reluctance, Rick was escorted out of the prison. The trio waited in a black SUV, their faces grim as he climbed into the backseat. "Feels good to breathe fresh air again," Rick said, stretching his arms. "Now, let’s get down to business." Bethany turned to him, her eyes blazing with desperation. "Where is she, Rick?" Rick pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket and handed it to Carter. "An address… she’s being held there. But you’d better hurry. My associates aren’t exactly the patient type." Carter snatched the paper, scanning the address. "If this is a trap…" "It’s not," Rick interrupted smoothly. "I want you out of my hair as much as you want your kid back." “Well it better not be a trap, or else I will make sure you stay in jail or worse meet your untimely death regardless of the consequences.” Troy Reece uttered sternly. “Relax big guy…” Rick said, raising his hands in surrender, mockingly and added; “It's not a tra

One after the other, the trio slipped inside, moving between stacks of crates as gently as they could. The sound of voices grew louder. They spotted Marcus Kane at the center of the room, flanked by armed guards. Carter whispered, "We take out the guards quietly. Then we corner Marcus." Troy nodded, drawing his silenced pistol. One by one, they incapacitated the guards, their movements swift and precise. Finally, they approached Marcus, who was seated at a table, his back to them. Troy pressed his gun to Marcus’s temple. "Don’t move." Marcus froze, his hands raised. "Well, well, Reece. You’ve got guts showing up here." Bethany stepped forward, her voice shaking with anger. "Where is Hilary? Where is my daughter?” Marcus smirked and uttered; "Ooh!! I am shaking in my pants, wait did you think I’ll just hand her over? Rick’s paying me more than you can imagine to keep her out of your reach." Carter slammed his fist on the table. "We’re not leaving without her!" The sound

  • CHAPTER 208

Bethany sat in the car on a quiet road a few miles from the Bentley estate, her hands trembling as she clutched the steering wheel. She had driven here in desperation and Troy as well as Carter had flanked her from behind, but Logan’s guards had turned her away without even hearing her out. Tears welled down in her eyes as she thought about her daughter, alone and in danger. Her phone buzzed on the passenger seat, and she flinched, hesitating before picking it up. Rick’s message was short and brutal; “Time’s up. No freedom, no daughter.” ‘How did he have my phone number? Of course he is a notorious man. What's so special about my phone number that it would be too hard to get?’ She thought. Bethany began to sob, her body shaking as she tried to gather her thoughts. Logan wasn’t coming, he was too caught up in his own war to help her. How could she expect him to drop his own family obligations just so he could save a child who wasn't his, not to talk of one whom she had turn

Patricia stood in the doorway of his study wearing one of Logan’s button-up shirts, her arms folded across her chest. She looked at him with concern, but her voice was steady. “You’ve been up all night, what's up?” Logan turned, his expression softening when he saw her. “I had to plan.” Patricia stepped closer, her bare feet on the wooden floors, even though it was cold she didn't mind, she then uttered; “Planning is one thing and wearing yourself out right before a fight is another.” “I can’t afford to rest,” Logan replied, his voice firm but gentle. “Malcolm won’t stop until one of us is dead. I have to be ready.” Patricia reached out, taking his hand and said; “I know you feel like this is all on you, but it’s not. You have people who want to help you. Damon’s men, the loyal guards here, and… me.” Logan’s jaw tightened. “You’ve already helped enough, Patricia. More than I would ever ask for, B But now, you need to focus on yourself and the baby. • CHAPTER 206

Bentley's estate was quiet but tense. The events of the night replayed in his mind: the ambush at the cabin, Patricia’s revelation, and Damon Salvatore’s shadowy intervention. Everything pointed to one undeniable fact, that this wasn’t just survival anymore. It was war! A soft knock at the study door interrupted his thoughts. It opened slightly, and Patricia peeked in. Her face was calm, but her eyes betrayed her concern. “You should be resting,” Logan said, setting the glass down. She stepped in, closing the door behind her. “I can’t sleep, not with everything happening. Not with you down here, planning who-knows-what.” Logan stood, walking over to her. “Patricia, you need to trust me. I’ll handle Malcolm.” “And what happens if you don’t?” she asked, her voice trembling. “Logan, I’m scared. For you, for us, for this baby. Every time you walk into danger, I feel like I’m losing a part of you.” Logan gently took her hands, his eyes softening. “I know you’re scared, but

The woods were quiet except for the wind, but Logan’s mind raced as he paced the cabin’s living room. Patricia sat on the couch, her hands tightly gripping the edges, her face pale but determined. “We need to leave this place soon, Malcolm already knows where we are now. It’s only a matter of time before he sends more men to cause a scene or worse.” Patricia hesitated, then stood, her arms instinctively wrapping around herself protectively. “Logan, look here, running away won’t solve this. You know that as well as I do.” Logan turned to her, his expression softening but still firm. “This isn’t running, it's called a strategy. We regroup with our own men and plan our next move. Malcolm thinks I’ll be caught off guard simply because I am in the woods, but I won’t give him that satisfaction, hell no! They were the ones who started this, his father hated my father because of a grudge, he killed him and he paid with his life for it, so if this is what I have to deal with for spar

  • CHAPTER 204

The room was eerily silent after Logan’s departure, the reality or the fact that what had just transpired in front of him began to kick in. His father’s lifeless body laid on the floor, and his blood gushing out from his head beneath him. Malcolm dropped to his knees beside William, his hands trembling as he shook him. “Father, wake up!” His voice cracked, desperation could be seen. But despite all the tears and calling, William D’Cruz was gone, his now cold and blind eyes staring at the ceiling into nothingness. The shot was directed to his brain so no amount of surgery could bring him back to life. Malcolm’s breathing was no longer normal, it is more like he was hyperventilating as he clenched his fists. He felt his anger deep into his veins, boiling hotter than he thought possible. His entire world had just been shattered by Logan Bentley, his cousin, and right then and there as he knelt down beside his father's dead body, he vowed and swore to make sure, Logan pays wit

Damon nodded. “If you’re set on this path, Master Logan, then promise me one thing: don’t lose yourself entirely. Your father wouldn’t want his legacy to be remembered in blood.” Logan didn’t respond. He simply turned back to the desk and pulled out a drawer, retrieving a small, sleek pistol that had belonged to his father. He checked the chamber, the metallic click echoing in the silent room. “This isn’t about his legacy anymore,” Logan said quietly. “It’s about vengeance and making sure men like William and Malcolm never hurt anyone again.” **** Days later, seeing his father's remains that was completely unrecognisable, made Logan feel as though he had not done anything yet. He was supposed to be planning his father's burial but all he could think about was William's dead body being brought to the morgue as well. He couldn't just sit back and let his father be buried alone. What was his offence, being really good at everything and being his father's favorite? Well that was t

  • CHAPTER 202

As Logan walked out of his room well dressed, he was no longer just Terrence Bentley's grieving son, oh that ship has long sailed he was a man on a mission, a storm brewing with the promise of destruction. The Bentley estate’s private garage housed a collection of cars, each a symbol of his father’s taste and success. Logan selected a sleek black SUV, its engine roaring to life like a growl from deep within his chest. He peeled out of the driveway, his destination clear: William D'Cruz's sprawling estate on the other side of town. Damon, who saw him driving away, immediately sent trusted men to shadow him. “Ready the men, make sure nothing happens Master Logan is that clear?” “Yes sir!!” They all ran off and began shadowing him, because his safety was their priory, should something happen to him, it could cost them their lives. As the city lights blurred past, Logan’s thoughts were filled with the memories of his father, his warm laugh, his stern yet encouraging words kept
