Bethany sat in the car on a quiet road a few miles from the Bentley estate, her hands trembling as she clutched the steering wheel.

She had driven here in desperation and Troy as well as Carter had flanked her from behind, but Logan’s guards had turned her away without even hearing her out.

Tears welled down in her eyes as she thought about her daughter, alone and in danger.

Her phone buzzed on the passenger seat, and she flinched, hesitating before picking it up.

Rick’s message was short and brutal; “Time’s up. No freedom, no daughter.”

‘How did he have my phone number? Of course he is a notorious man. What's so special about my phone number that it would be too hard to get?’ She thought.

Bethany began to sob, her body shaking as she tried to gather her thoughts.

Logan wasn’t coming, he was too caught up in his own war to help her.

How could she expect him to drop his own family obligations just so he could save a child who wasn't his, not to talk of one whom she had turn

One after the other, the trio slipped inside, moving between stacks of crates as gently as they could. The sound of voices grew louder. They spotted Marcus Kane at the center of the room, flanked by armed guards. Carter whispered, "We take out the guards quietly. Then we corner Marcus." Troy nodded, drawing his silenced pistol. One by one, they incapacitated the guards, their movements swift and precise. Finally, they approached Marcus, who was seated at a table, his back to them. Troy pressed his gun to Marcus’s temple. "Don’t move." Marcus froze, his hands raised. "Well, well, Reece. You’ve got guts showing up here." Bethany stepped forward, her voice shaking with anger. "Where is Hilary? Where is my daughter?” Marcus smirked and uttered; "Ooh!! I am shaking in my pants, wait did you think I’ll just hand her over? Rick’s paying me more than you can imagine to keep her out of your reach." Carter slammed his fist on the table. "We’re not leaving without her!" The sound

"Feels good to breathe fresh air again," Rick said, stretching his arms. "Now, let’s get down to business." Bethany turned to him, her eyes blazing with desperation. "Where is she, Rick?" Rick pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket and handed it to Carter. "An address… she’s being held there. But you’d better hurry. My associates aren’t exactly the patient type." Carter snatched the paper, scanning the address. "If this is a trap…" "It’s not," Rick interrupted smoothly. "I want you out of my hair as much as you want your kid back." “Well it better not be a trap, or else I will make sure you stay in jail or worse meet your untimely death regardless of the consequences.” Troy Reece uttered sternly. “Relax big guy…” Rick said, raising his hands in surrender, mockingly and added; “It's not a tra

An ambulance screeched to a halt in front of a house in the Brooklyn neighborhood.A few minutes later, paramedics emerged out of the house, carrying a woman on a stretcher. She covered her face and upper body with a towel, her bare lower half stained with blood, curled up in pain.It was bustling, and onlookers quickly pulled out their phones to capture the shocking scene. Before long, various short videos from different angles were uploaded to Snap Shorts, going viral in no time.In an office, Logan had just wrapped up his workday. Feeling bored, he received a notification on his phone about the video.Driven by curiosity, he clicked to watch, seeing people speculate that the woman might have been injured during sex. Logan found it amusing and even made a crude joke in the comments about the woman's boyfriend being quite the stud. However, when he scrolled to the next video, which was nearly identical but from a different angle, he froze. He recognized the house in the footage—it wa

Logan looked at his wife lying in bed, eyes closed, occasionally furrowing her brow as if in pain. Seeing her in such a pitiful state made Logan angry and painful, and he instinctively reached out to gently touch her face. But then, the words that escaped Bethany's lips in her sleep froze his hand in mid-air. "Don't go, Troy..." she murmured, calling out another man's name even in her dreams, her hands flailing as if trying to grasp something. Suddenly, she grabbed Logan's arm, making him even more agitated, and he pulled away sharply. "Troy, don't go!" Bethany shouted in panic, then sat up abruptly. She opened her eyes, scanning the room in confusion. When she saw Logan, she froze. "T-Logan... what are you doing here?" she stammered. "Shouldn't you tell me why you're in the hospital?" Logan shot back, glaring into her eyes. Seemingly startled by his harsh tone, Bethany lowered her gaze, her eyes darting around, unsure how to respond. But after a few seconds, she seemed to gro

Bethany was taken aback, seemingly not expecting Logan to bring up divorce. She frowned and impatiently asked, "Logan, what do you want? How can you want to divorce me over something so trivial? What about your responsibilities as a man and a husband?"Bethany didn’t actually want a divorce. Although she didn’t love Logan, she thoroughly enjoyed his affection and financial support. As for Troy, Bethany loved him very much and he's wealthier than Logan. But unfortunately, Troy can't marry her.Still speaking with an air of arrogance, Bethany completely glossed over her infidelity and boldly accused Logan of lacking responsibility.Logan was incredulous at her shamelessness. "Trivial? Cheating is trivial? Cheating that leads to a ruptured ovary is trivial? Bethany, you are shameless!"Bethany shot him a disdainful glance and casually replied, "Logan, I hope you understand that even though I married you, my body still belongs to myself. You, as my husband, only have the right to use it."

“Wait, what did you just say, Hillary?” Logan’s face turned pale as he struggled to believe what Hillary had just said.Meanwhile, Hillary was happily playing with her big toy, completely unaware of the unusual tone in Logan's voice. She said sweetly, “This big Barbie was given to me by my rich daddy. Rich daddy is really nice, and I love him.”Logan’s mind went blank at her words.Taking a deep breath, he crouched down to look at his innocent daughter and seriously emphasized, “Hillary, look at me. I... I am your... father, your... only... father!” But his voice trembled slightly.Hillary seemed confused by her father's seriousness and asked, “But Mommy told me I have two daddies. She said you are the poor daddy, and the one who gave me gifts this morning is the rich daddy.”Logan’s eyes widened in shock and despair. He never expected that his wife not only betrayed him but also taught their daughter to call her lover “daddy”!If he had known this while he was in the hospital, he wou

Logan looked at Bethany and her lawyer, pointing at the divorce agreement, and angrily questioned, “What does this mean? I paid for the land and building materials for this house, and I built it with my own hands. Why are you demanding that I move out immediately? What kind of bullshit condition is this?” In the face of Logan's fury, the lawyer didn’t flinch; instead, he spoke confidently, “Mr. Logan, as far as I know, the ownership of this land is under my client’s name. The property belongs to Ms. Bethany.” His tone was somewhat mocking, as if he were laughing at Logan for being a fool. Logan suddenly remembered that he had purchased the land in Bethany's name before they were married, which meant that, in principle, this house was considered Bethany's premarital property. “Bethany, you cheated! Now you even want to take my house. Don’t you feel any shame?” Logan shouted. The thought of Bethany living openly with her lover in the house he had built with his own hands made Logan

She looked at him with concern, but her voice was steady. “You’ve been up all night, what's up?” Logan turned, his expression softening when he saw her. “I had to plan.” Patricia stepped closer, her bare feet on the wooden floors, even though it was cold she didn't mind, she then uttered; “Planning is one thing and wearing yourself out right before a fight is another.” “I can’t afford to rest,” Logan replied, his voice firm but gentle. “Malcolm won’t stop until one of us is dead. I have to be ready.” Patricia reached out, taking his hand and said; “I know you feel like this is all on you, but it’s not. You have people who want to help you. Damon’s men, the loyal guards here, and… me.” Logan’s jaw tightened. “You’ve already helped enough, Patricia. More than I would ever ask for, B But now, you need to focus on yourself and the baby. • CHAPTER 206

Bentley's estate was quiet but tense. The events of the night replayed in his mind: the ambush at the cabin, Patricia’s revelation, and Damon Salvatore’s shadowy intervention. Everything pointed to one undeniable fact, that this wasn’t just survival anymore. It was war! A soft knock at the study door interrupted his thoughts. It opened slightly, and Patricia peeked in. Her face was calm, but her eyes betrayed her concern. “You should be resting,” Logan said, setting the glass down. She stepped in, closing the door behind her. “I can’t sleep, not with everything happening. Not with you down here, planning who-knows-what.” Logan stood, walking over to her. “Patricia, you need to trust me. I’ll handle Malcolm.” “And what happens if you don’t?” she asked, her voice trembling. “Logan, I’m scared. For you, for us, for this baby. Every time you walk into danger, I feel like I’m losing a part of you.” Logan gently took her hands, his eyes softening. “I know you’re scared, but

The woods were quiet except for the wind, but Logan’s mind raced as he paced the cabin’s living room. Patricia sat on the couch, her hands tightly gripping the edges, her face pale but determined. “We need to leave this place soon, Malcolm already knows where we are now. It’s only a matter of time before he sends more men to cause a scene or worse.” Patricia hesitated, then stood, her arms instinctively wrapping around herself protectively. “Logan, look here, running away won’t solve this. You know that as well as I do.” Logan turned to her, his expression softening but still firm. “This isn’t running, it's called a strategy. We regroup with our own men and plan our next move. Malcolm thinks I’ll be caught off guard simply because I am in the woods, but I won’t give him that satisfaction, hell no! They were the ones who started this, his father hated my father because of a grudge, he killed him and he paid with his life for it, so if this is what I have to deal with for spar

  • CHAPTER 204

The room was eerily silent after Logan’s departure, the reality or the fact that what had just transpired in front of him began to kick in. His father’s lifeless body laid on the floor, and his blood gushing out from his head beneath him. Malcolm dropped to his knees beside William, his hands trembling as he shook him. “Father, wake up!” His voice cracked, desperation could be seen. But despite all the tears and calling, William D’Cruz was gone, his now cold and blind eyes staring at the ceiling into nothingness. The shot was directed to his brain so no amount of surgery could bring him back to life. Malcolm’s breathing was no longer normal, it is more like he was hyperventilating as he clenched his fists. He felt his anger deep into his veins, boiling hotter than he thought possible. His entire world had just been shattered by Logan Bentley, his cousin, and right then and there as he knelt down beside his father's dead body, he vowed and swore to make sure, Logan pays wit

Damon nodded. “If you’re set on this path, Master Logan, then promise me one thing: don’t lose yourself entirely. Your father wouldn’t want his legacy to be remembered in blood.” Logan didn’t respond. He simply turned back to the desk and pulled out a drawer, retrieving a small, sleek pistol that had belonged to his father. He checked the chamber, the metallic click echoing in the silent room. “This isn’t about his legacy anymore,” Logan said quietly. “It’s about vengeance and making sure men like William and Malcolm never hurt anyone again.” **** Days later, seeing his father's remains that was completely unrecognisable, made Logan feel as though he had not done anything yet. He was supposed to be planning his father's burial but all he could think about was William's dead body being brought to the morgue as well. He couldn't just sit back and let his father be buried alone. What was his offence, being really good at everything and being his father's favorite? Well that was t
