“What do you mean by explode? There has to be an explanation for this, there is no way he is going to explode!” Darwin was looking at Varrick. He was a bit confused on hearing that Leo was going to explode if he tried to break the seal without training.
“It means the seal that Abigail put on him is even stronger than a grade five scarlet core seal. For some reason, she wanted to make sure that he was not going to find it easy breaking the seal.” Varrick was looking at Leo. The boy was going to have a hard time thinking about breaking the seals, and it was going to be the hardest thing he could imagine doing. “You mean Abigail used that kind of spell on her son? But what was her reason for even putting it on him? I know that there were people after her, but then that means that there has to be something else she didn't drop in that message.” Darwin was not going to be thinking of what he was going to be doing that quickly. He had promised Leo that he would train him to break the seals, but learning that the seal was a grade five scarlet core showed that it was going to be harder for them to even break through the first layer. “The boy will have to train hard and make sure that nothing is going to make it hard for him to cross. Breaking the seal won't be a problem if he is to train his body out like mad. I know there will be no way anyone would be able to do anything to him. After all, he is Abigail’s son,” Varrick was looking at Leo, he was even surprised that there was something like that. The seal was one thing, but breaking it was another. They needed to make sure that no matter what happened, they wouldn't be the ones doing something that would hurt them. “You know, if he is to train well enough I mean to join us on raids and things like that, he will be able to break through in two years or less.” Darwin looked at his brother. He was shocked that he didn't think of that at first, but he was sure that using something like that was going to be the ultimate move to make sure that they broke the seal. “But you see, the seal is still holding down his agility and everything. I don't know if he will be able to endure all he will be doing or if he is even up for it. We can't force him into something he is not ready to do.” Leo felt defeated when he heard that his seal couldn't be broken easily, and it was going to take a long time. He had heard everything the men had said, and it was clear that he was not going to be using all his magic immediately, but if he was willing to train, then it meant that it was going to be possible. “She must have put it on me for a reason,” Leo spoke up, making the two warriors turn to him immediately. “I know there has to be something she must have wanted to let me know but was scared that something might happen, so she didn't let me know what she was even doing. I will not hold it to her, she is my mother after all.” Leo spoke with so much courage in his heart, he was only doing it to make sure that Darwin would still consider training him and not think that he was some kind of weak chum. Darwin took a deep breath before turning to Leo, “When we say dungeons we are talking about creatures like the Orc Bear and more that are fiercer than it and there is no telling what you will be facing when you enter the dungeon. Not that I don't want you to join us, I hope you are ready?” Leo was looking at Darwin. He had a lot to say, but he would not be backing down. It was going to be a once-in-a-lifetime thing for him. He was going to be able to use magic and cultivate his mana, it was something he would give a lifetime to get. “I will make sure that there is nothing in my way, I will do this with all the strength I have.” Leo gave Darwin a response that they were not even expecting. Leo was not backing down, and it was going to be the changing point in his life and he was going to be sure that, no matter what, he was going to change his life. “He has that fire in his eyes, just like Abigail, this boy is going to be something that will spiral the world into a new age.” Varrick thought as he looked at Leo. He was not sure at first if the boy would be able to take what was coming to him. “Okay Leo, I want to see if you are just all talk or if there is any grit behind all those big words. I want to spar with you.” Darwin said, looking at the boy with a huge smile on his face. He was going to spar with Leo to test his abilities and see if it was going to be the best idea to train him. Leo looked at Darwin, he was surprised that he would even offer to spar with him. “Are you serious? This is all of a sudden and I don't think I can do anything against you yet.” Darwin smiled at Leo’s innocence, “You were able to kill an Orc Bear with one hit. I know you think that it wasn't much of a big deal, but you see, that is an amount of scary that I can't even think of comprehending.” “Besides, it will be a good way to start your training and show you some other things you need to know,” Darwin stood up. He was going to enjoy starting his lessons with Leo, and it would be a good way for him to see what the boy could do. Leo was a bit confused, he didn't know what was going to happen or how he was going to summon the power he used last time. “Don't worry Leo, you will be fine, you just need to make sure that there is nothing that will be holding you back. I will pull you out if I see any reason to.” Varrick looked at Leo. He knew that there was no way the boy would even think of facing Darwin for now. Leo stood still for a moment, he knew that he had nothing to lose. He was going to make sure that nothing was going to make him give up. “Alright, I will do it!” Leo said with a lot of energy. He was about to face a man who had told him that he was through to the Red Mana Core. ‘I have to make sure that I don't die, that's all. How hard can that be?’ Leo looked at Darwin, and noticed the devilish smile forming on his master's face. Leo didn't know why he felt that he was going to be making a huge mistake. “On second thought I don't think I feel too good.” Leo was trying to do something to get out of the fight, he was not going to lose his life facing Darwin. “Oh come on Leo, I know you must be scared, but don't worry, I will not go all out. You can though. I want to see what you can do.” Darwin was trying to convince Leo that he was not going to kill him, but there was no way he would be able to contain himself. ‘Yeah, smiling like a psychopath doesn't make you look like a demon from the Nether realm, I am not going to die again!’ Leo’s thoughts were filled with things that would convince him not to face Darwin. “Are you sure you won't rip my head out?” Leo asked, looking at Darwin. He wanted to be reassured that he was not going to die if he was going to face Darwin. “I will try not to.” Darwin gave him a short and brief reply with a stern face. Leo could feel his heart sinking to his stomach. “Not helping Darwin, the boy is already scared that you will kill him, so please let him know that it's just a test to know how strong he is and how far he can go.” Varrick chimed in, he knew his brother wouldn't hold his words back when he was trying to say something. Darwin laughed a bit before he looked at Leo. He was sure that nothing was going to make him want to match with him again. “It will be fine Leo, it's just a match and Varrick can heal your wounds if there are any. Don't worry, I will be on my light blue core, so there will be no need for you to even worry about getting hurt.” Darwin reassured Leo, and he saw a sign of relief on Leo’s face. He was going to be sparing with him. “Alright, let’s do this,” Leo said, looking at his Master. The three stepped outside for the match to begin. Leo looked around and saw that they were deep in the heart of the forest and there were critters around there. Leo could feel the mana in the area, he saw that everywhere was filled with magic, and it was clear that there was a huge amount of mana there. “There is a huge amount of mana in the area, so I guess that all this is at the white mana core, right?” Leo looked at his master, he was waiting for Darwin to tell him that he was right. “Well no, the area is filled with Light Blue Mana Core.” He paused to see a defeated look on Leo's face. “Don't feel bad that you didn't get it right, it's not the end of the world. They feel like white mana cores and act like it, but that's one perk of the Heio forests; they don't usually give off what they are. You see, that way there is no one trying to cultivate the entire area for themselves.” Darwin paused when they had reached a particular area, “This is a good spot, it has all the space we
Darwin and Varrick were looking at Leo, they were shocked to see that the boy was still cultivating mana like it was something he would do normally. “This is pretty scary, how in the world was he able to break through the first seal and reach his dark blue mana core like this? This is something that needs to be studied.” Varrick was looking at Leo, he was emitting energy that only people who were strong warriors would have. Darwin laughed when he saw what Leo was doing without even being aware. “I don't know about you but all I see is a warrior that is ready to dance with me, I want to see what he can do,” Darwin said looking at Varrick, he was ready to face Leo in the sparring match. “You better be careful, for all we know, this boy doesn't even know his strength. There is something about his abilities that is still not settling right with me.” Varrick was looking at Leo, he didn't want his brother to lose his life all because of a foolish game he was going to be playing. “Don't
It had been four months since Leo had gone to Heio and discovered that he had a seal in his body. He had begun training with Darwin and Varrick to ensure that he broke the remaining two seals on him. It had taken two months for Leo to reach the intermediate sword master level and it was not easy for him but there was no way he would be seen as a normal warrior after what he and Darwin had been through the last four months. Both of them were sparring outside, the air was filled with the sound of their clashing blades. It was a hell of a spar, Leo had improved to the extent that he could push Darwin back to the wall. “You're getting better at wielding your sword Leo, I know in three months you will be a full-on sword warrior and nothing is going to be stopping you,” Darwin said as he tried to land a blow on Leo, but with everything he tried, Leo would react with a faster and stronger defence. “You keep saying that to boost my freaking ego, knowing it might be working. I will get to
Leo and Darwin walked back to the treehouse, and they walked into Varrick making a potion. He was deep in concentration and everything seemed to be glowing. Varrick was trying to find a way to make sure that they broke the remaining two seals and unlock Leo's affinity, but in everything he had checked, there was nothing he found that was going to help him. ‘He is a Dragonborn and I don’t know the first thing about Dragonborns and their affinity. Only the heavens know how long it’s going to take to bring it out.” Varrick was lost in his thoughts, he didn’t know what the outcome of the entire research was. “You look busy,” Darwin said as he looked around trying to make sure that he wouldn’t tip anything over. Varrick snapped out of the daze and quickly put a smile on his face. He wanted to make sure that there was no sign of worry on him. “You’re back early, so who won this time?” Varrick asked, still with the smile on his face and looking at the two as they walked in. “The kid tho
Leo felt like the night won’t end. His thoughts roamed around. He was excited but scared about the dungeon raid. “What if Darwin’s plan fails? Would I be able to unlock the seal to reach my affinity?” Doubts crossed his mind but he was determined to achieve his goal. The stars disappeared and the sun began to rise. Leo did not get an ounce of sleep. “Are those eye bags?” Darwin asked, staring into Leo’s eyes. Leo staggered towards Darwin and pricked a smile. “Little eye bags. Anxiety got the better of me,” he yawned, cleaning his eyes with his palms. Darwin gently tapped Leo. “Don’t worry, you got this,” he motivated, smiling brightly. Leo smirked, cracking his fingers. “Yes, Master Darwin. Let’s go!” he exclaimed, excited. Darwin and Leo began their journey to the dungeon. They make their way out of Heio forest to the deep cluster of dungeons. The excitement was written all over Leo’s face. Darwin knew that he had to do all it takes to help Leo unlock his affinity. “About
Leo was aggravated. The sight of the people who killed his mom, made his blood boil. “…YOU WILL PAY!” he exclaimed. A cold, airy aura started flaring from his body. His eyes turned red and he began to growl. “What’s going on?” one of them asked. “Lando: Wind blade,” he said, as a gust of wind in form of a sword was directed towards Leo. Leo skipped through the attack, suddenly appearing in front of the man. “Spa-” “Too slow,” Leo interrupted, stabbing him in his left abdomen. “They did not tell us he was this strong,” said another of the men, as he moved backwards. Leo’s attention shifted towards them. He shuffled quickly, reappearing in front of the second man. “Flare: Gunshot,” Leo released a spike of fire from the tip of his sword, which passed through the chest of the second man. Leo unconsciously brought down two men in an instant. The anger within him made his mana sip out of his sealed orb. “LEO!” Darwin screamed. “Back to earth, Leo.” Darwin’s attention was all o
Darwin was bedridden for 3 days while Leo took care of him. “When will you wake up?” Leo murmured as he sat on a chair facing Darwin, staring at him. Leo sighed, as he made an attempt to stand up. “And where do you think you’re going?” Darwin spoke, his voice chopped. Leo’s eyes began to tear up. He was filled with joy but at the same time, relief. “I thought that you won’t wake up,” he said, drawing his nose. Darwin chuckled. “What do you take me for? I’ve gone through worse,” he said, sitting up right on the bed. The towel fell from his face and Leo placed it in a bucket. “I know but still. I won’t be able to live knowing that a lot of people have died protecting me,” he said. “You don’t have to feel that way,” Darwin replied. “Something this small can’t kill me.” Leo smiled warmly, as he stared at Darwin. “What’s taking so lo-” Varrick said, but he took a pause after seeing Darwin awake. “I can see that you’re finally awake, after taking a very lon
“Scarlet Margic High School, let’s enroll him there,”Varrick suggested. Darwin kept shut, before he began to giggle. “You’re joking right?” he asked. “I mean, you are not serious, right?” Varrick glared at Darwin. “It’s the safest palce to keep him and at the same time train him. He can also be able to get comrades who will assist him and support him in his journey,” he insisted. Darwin was not convinced. He did not want to get Leo out of his sight, mainly as a tribute to Abigail. “We can’t take him there. It’s not a place for someone like him that has an unknown background,” Darwin replied. “Don’t get too ahead of yourself, let’s leave him with us here, at Heio forest.” “DARWIN-” “VARRICK?” he interrupted. “You know I’m not wrong.” “But, he is also not safe here. He can also be traced and captured here. Let’s just take him to the high school, after all its an academy for learning magic. It’s better than us teaching him,” Varrick said. “No, he remains here. That’s final,” Da
