The three stepped outside for the match to begin. Leo looked around and saw that they were deep in the heart of the forest and there were critters around there.

Leo could feel the mana in the area, he saw that everywhere was filled with magic, and it was clear that there was a huge amount of mana there.

“There is a huge amount of mana in the area, so I guess that all this is at the white mana core, right?” Leo looked at his master, he was waiting for Darwin to tell him that he was right.

“Well no, the area is filled with Light Blue Mana Core.” He paused to see a defeated look on Leo's face. “Don't feel bad that you didn't get it right, it's not the end of the world. They feel like white mana cores and act like it, but that's one perk of the Heio forests; they don't usually give off what they are. You see, that way there is no one trying to cultivate the entire area for themselves.”

Darwin paused when they had reached a particular area, “This is a good spot, it has all the space we need for what is going to be happening.” Darwin said as he let out a deep breath and turned to Leo.

“You need to make sure that nothing is clogging your mind. Take deep breaths, and try to make sure you can reach your core.” Darwin started to take off his gear, he was not going to risk hurting Leo.

Leo was a bit lost when Darwin told him to try and reach his core. He did not even know how he was going to be able to reach something he had not felt in his life.

“How am I going to reach my core? There is no way for me to even feel it, I don't even know how I am going to start.” Leo sounded defeated, he was not even expecting to do something like that until they started their training.

Darwin knew that the boy was a bit lost and confused, he was not going to push him into doing something that he wouldn't be able to do. “Look Leo, I know this might seem like it is hard for you to even imagine, but you can do it. Just breathe and let go of some of the tension in your body, then channel your thoughts to the energy within you.” Darwin said as he closed his eyes to show Leo what he needed to do.

Darwin relaxed all his muscles, showing Leo the steps, “You need to make sure that nothing is clogging your thoughts, you also need to know how you are going to fight through the mental block you are going to be having. Look for that thing that keeps you going, maybe it’s an emotion or a dream. You need to find out and make sure that you hold on to it, then you breathe.”

Darwin gave Leo the instructions he needed and he was meditating. He opened his eyes to look at Leo, trying to see what he was doing, and he could see that Leo had closed his eyes as well. “Yes that’s it, make sure that nothing is clogging your thoughts while you are trying to reach the core. It is within you, look for it and hold on to it.” Darwin smiled as he saw Leo trying his best to make sure he found the core.

Leo was having a hard time doing that. It might have sounded easy, but he was dealing with memories from his past life and this life. He was dealing with something that no one knew.

“You will never be anything other than an utter loser!”

“You will die alone and no one will even care!”

All the harsh and cruel words he had gotten as Lucas in his past life were still haunting him. He was sweating while he remembered all those things.

‘I can't even think of anything that would give me the strength to continue, I don't know what it is I am even doing here. I want to make sure that I see nothing but the absolute goal. I don't know what will even give me the heart to continue. I had better just give up.’

Leo was about to open his eyes when he then heard a voice. “Son, come here.” Leo recognized the voice. It was the voice of his mother in his past life. He was almost about to cry when he heard her voice. It was her voice when she was about to die on the hospital bed.

“Yes Mom,” Lucas answered, he was still fifteen years old when that happened, and he ran to her bed when she called him to tell him something that would forever be imprinted into his memory.

“I know you might find it hard when I am not here, but you see, there are going to be times when people will look up to you for help. When that time comes, don't leave them. Make sure you help anyone in danger. Do you hear me now?” His mother coughed a bit, her voice seemed like it was fading away.

Lucas held his mother’s bed, “I hear you Ma, I will help people in any way I can,” the boy said with a smile on his face. He was trying to cheer his mother on.

“That’s my boy, I know you will. Live a happy life and be strong, your mother will always love you,” his mother said before the life support machine began beeping loudly, showing she had passed away.

All this was happening in Leo’s mind. The more he searched for the core, he unraveled memories of his past life and present life.

But there was something else happening, he was tapping into his core without even knowing that he had reached it.

The ground around them was shaking, the mana in the air around them was going into Leo. He was cultivating the mana without even knowing it. Darwin and Varrick were shocked to see what was unfolding in front of them.

“Phenomenal! He is cultivating Light Blue Mana without even crossing the first seal. This is something else. At this rate he will reach the Red Core in no time!” Varrick commended, he was fascinated that the boy was able to pull something like this off on his first day of training.

“I don't know how, but I think that he has already broken the first layer, and he doesn't even know. I almost forgot we are dealing with a dragon born here!” Darwin was fascinated as he looked at Leo, he was scaling up and higher than he would even imagine.

The waves coming from Leo were tremendous and scary, it felt like he was breaking through a new level. Darwin knew that if he was to continue like this then there would be visitors trying to find out what happened.

“Varrick! Cast a protective dome over us now!” Darwin looked at his brother, he didn't want anything to happen to them while they trained.

Varrick nodded before casting the dome over their heads, “Pandorian Cage!” Varrick yelled before a huge dome formed, keeping them inside the dome protecting the outside.

“This will do. I wonder what he is still doing. He looks like he is still looking for the damn core but has already broken through his white.” Darwin was looking at Leo, he was fascinated that the boy was doing things that seemed impossible minutes ago.

Leo was still trying to hold his core, his past life was playing through his head. He saw all the times he had a choice to go away, but he chose to help people, even when he was beat up, he had helped people.

He saw everything down to his death, then another memory popped up. It was a memory of his mother, Abigail.

It was during his sixteenth birthday that Abigail was talking to him about why she gave him the name Leo.

“You know son, I had named you after a great masked warrior that walked Ivandale years ago. He was powerful enough to change the tides of the celestial war. His name was Leo Lothr, and we called him the Warrior of Myth. He was a symbol of hope for the whole of Ivandale and people believed that the gods had sent him to protect them.” Abigail was smiling. Leo was confused when he heard what his mother said about his name.

“But he had magic, I don't. So why are you telling me this?” Leo looked at his mother for an answer. She smiled and looked at him.

“One day you will get your affinity, whatever it is, you will have to make sure that you use your powers to help people and protect them.” Abigail had instilled another word into his head, it was the same thing his mother had told him in the past.

“I know one day my son will be a warrior that everyone looks up to.” Abigail had a smile on her face as she patted Leo's head. “Live and be happy, my son.”

Leo couldn't hold back the tears in his eyes. Leo then reached the core. He grabbed it, and just then there was a strong release of mana and magic, and Varrick’s dome almost cracked open.

“It can't be,” Varrick said, looking at Leo.

“What is it, brother?” Darwin asked, also puzzled by the power Leo had showcased and his brother's surprised look.

“He just broke through the first seal, and what's more, he is now in the Dark Blue Mana Core!” Varrick said with a surprised look on his face.

Darwin and Varrick were looking at Leo, they were shocked to see that the boy was still cultivating mana like it was something he would do normally. “This is pretty scary, how in the world was he able to break through the first seal and reach his dark blue mana core like this? This is something that needs to be studied.” Varrick was looking at Leo, he was emitting energy that only people who were strong warriors would have. Darwin laughed when he saw what Leo was doing without even being aware. “I don't know about you but all I see is a warrior that is ready to dance with me, I want to see what he can do,” Darwin said looking at Varrick, he was ready to face Leo in the sparring match. “You better be careful, for all we know, this boy doesn't even know his strength. There is something about his abilities that is still not settling right with me.” Varrick was looking at Leo, he didn't want his brother to lose his life all because of a foolish game he was going to be playing. “Don't

He had begun training with Darwin and Varrick to ensure that he broke the remaining two seals on him. It was a hell of a spar, Leo had improved to the extent that he could push Darwin back to the wall. “You're getting better at wielding your sword Leo, I know in three months you will be a full-on sword warrior and nothing is going to be stopping you,” Darwin said as he tried to land a blow on Leo, but with everything he tried, Leo would react with a faster and stronger defence. “You keep saying that to boost my freaking ego, knowing it might be working. Varrick was trying to find a way to make sure that they broke the remaining two seals and unlock Leo's affinity, but in everything he had checked, there was nothing he found that was going to help him. ‘He is a Dragonborn and I don’t know the first thing about Dragonborns and their affinity. Only the heavens know how long it’s going to take to bring it out.” Varrick was lost in his thoughts, he didn’t know what the outcome of the entire research was. “You look busy,” Darwin said as he looked around trying to make sure that he wouldn’t tip anything over. Varrick snapped out of the daze and quickly put a smile on his face. He wanted to make sure that there was no sign of worry on him. “You’re back early, so who won this time?” Varrick asked, still with the smile on his face and looking at the two as they walked in. “The kid tho

Leo felt like the night won’t end. His thoughts roamed around. He was excited but scared about the dungeon raid. “What if Darwin’s plan fails? Would I be able to unlock the seal to reach my affinity?” Doubts crossed his mind but he was determined to achieve his goal. The stars disappeared and the sun began to rise. Leo did not get an ounce of sleep. “Are those eye bags?” Darwin asked, staring into Leo’s eyes. Leo staggered towards Darwin and pricked a smile. “Little eye bags. Anxiety got the better of me,” he yawned, cleaning his eyes with his palms. Darwin gently tapped Leo. “Don’t worry, you got this,” he motivated, smiling brightly. Leo smirked, cracking his fingers. “Yes, Master Darwin. Let’s go!” he exclaimed, excited. Darwin and Leo began their journey to the dungeon. They make their way out of Heio forest to the deep cluster of dungeons. The excitement was written all over Leo’s face. Darwin knew that he had to do all it takes to help Leo unlock his affinity. “About

Leo was aggravated. The sight of the people who killed his mom, made his blood boil. “…YOU WILL PAY!” he exclaimed. A cold, airy aura started flaring from his body. His eyes turned red and he began to growl. “What’s going on?” one of them asked. “Lando: Wind blade,” he said, as a gust of wind in form of a sword was directed towards Leo. Leo skipped through the attack, suddenly appearing in front of the man. “Spa-” “Too slow,” Leo interrupted, stabbing him in his left abdomen. “They did not tell us he was this strong,” said another of the men, as he moved backwards. Leo’s attention shifted towards them. He shuffled quickly, reappearing in front of the second man. “Flare: Gunshot,” Leo released a spike of fire from the tip of his sword, which passed through the chest of the second man. Leo unconsciously brought down two men in an instant. The anger within him made his mana sip out of his sealed orb. “LEO!” Darwin screamed. “Back to earth, Leo.” Darwin’s attention was all o

Leo sighed, as he made an attempt to stand up. “And where do you think you’re going?” Darwin spoke, his voice chopped. Leo’s eyes began to tear up. He was filled with joy but at the same time, relief. “I thought that you won’t wake up,” he said, drawing his nose. Darwin chuckled. “What do you take me for? I’ve gone through worse,” he said, sitting up right on the bed. The towel fell from his face and Leo placed it in a bucket. “I know but still. I won’t be able to live knowing that a lot of people have died protecting me,” he said. “You don’t have to feel that way,” Darwin replied. “Something this small can’t kill me.” Leo smiled warmly, as he stared at Darwin. “What’s taking so lo-” Varrick said, but he took a pause after seeing Darwin awake. “I can see that you’re finally awake, after taking a very lon

He can also be able to get comrades who will assist him and support him in his journey,” he insisted. Darwin was not convinced. He did not want to get Leo out of his sight, mainly as a tribute to Abigail. “We can’t take him there. He went in search of Varrick and that’s what made him eavesdrop on Varrick's conversation with Darwin. “Scarlet Magical High School,

The school principal had gone in moments later, sweating profusely, with his eyes widened in shock. "Well, isn’t she?" Anaya asked sternly. "Of course not," Leo snapped, he never wasted any time when it came to defending Sylvia. Anaya swept her hands through her hair, her annoyance growing by the minute as she spoke. "My goodness, open your eyes, Leo. The evidence is overwhelming. Sylvia hasn’t been in school in days. I didn’t even see her at the gathering—did you?" she said, pointing at Jason. Jason tilted his head thoughtfully before slowly shaking his head. "Exactly. And then, the minute she shows up, she’s bruised and battered at

The club festivities faded and the real party began in the school. They made their way into the school auditorium and noticed all that had been laid out. Music, amazing snacks, even a huge disco ball—the very best Scarlet Magic High School had to offer, and yet somehow someone didn't seem to like it. "This party is lame," Sebastian sighed, swirling his drink with a straw. "Not as lame as the ones royals throw," Leo remarked. Sebastian's eyes widened, his shock noticeable in his expression. He quickly turned to Jason, looking for some kind of validation. Royal gatherings had always been the talk of the kingdom; people who had the luxury of being in attendance just couldn't stop talking about it. Jason noticed Sebastian's gaze and slowly replied, "You'd be surprised." "That can't be true. Have you been to one, Anaya?" Sebastian asked, hoping she'd give him the answer he had been believing all his life. However, Anaya hadn't said a word for a long time. "Anaya? W..." Sebastia

"Mhmm, then the after party," Sebastian added excitedly. "Crazy..." Leo murmured when a centaur casually sashayed right by him. "Come on, let's check that out," Anaya said eagerly, dragging them toward the archery section. The person in charge of the spot had just released his bow, landing his arrow in a perfect bullseye. He turned to them, flashing his pearly white teeth, and said, "Impressive, isn't it?" Anaya scoffed at his words and rolled her eyes. "Anaya," Chris greeted with a deep grin. "Chris," Anaya replied flatly. "Leo, Jason, and Sebastian. Glad we're all caught up," Leo joked. Anaya rolled her eyes and smiled before turning to Sebastian. "This looks fun. Do you want to give it a shot?"

"Then why do you want us to go, especially when we have so much to d—" Anaya placed her index finger on Leo's lips and interjected, "Shh... enough with the book talk. I'm starting to think you both like this more than I do. Come to school tomorrow in your finest costumes, and don't even think of blowing me off." "Should we dress to match? Like one of us will be bread, one will be peanut butter, and the other will be jam?" Jason said excitedly, beginning to like the idea. "Hold on—who's the jam?" Anaya asked, her eyes widening in expectation. "And who's the bread?" Leo added, wrinkling his nose. He never seemed

"What happened to you two?" she asked, worry etched on her face. However, she received no reply, only aggrieved sighs. Anaya's frown deepened as she felt she was being given the silent treatment. "Look, are you guys still upset about the prank thing? I said I was sorry." "No, we're not upset, honest," Jason assured, waving his hands frantically. Anaya slowly nodded and replied, "Okay, good... But then, why do you both look like you're about to jump me?" Leo chuckled slightly at her comment, and Jason responded, without a sigh, "My dad made us scrub the ballroom floor when he found out that we were not in

"Where have you two been?" Sydney asked again. The boys looked at each other in panic, both wondering if one of them had a reasonable and, most importantly, a believable answer. "Uhh..." they hummed simultaneously, a distressed smile forming on their faces. Sydney suddenly walked toward them abruptly. They closed their eyes, mentally preparing for a huge scolding, but instead, they felt the warmth of her arms wrap around them tightly. A sigh escaped her lips before she exhaled in one breath, "Do you know how worried we were? Alex had to send the guards out to look for you." "Look for us?" Leo asked, a little astonished. "Of course! And he didn't even send ordinary guards..." Sydney paused and looked around. The boys raised a brow at her odd movements but didn't think much of it. She leaned closer to them and whispered, "He sent the Red Claws." "What?!" Jason exclaimed in a similar hushed tone. "Who are the Red Claws?" Leo inquired, almost cluelessly.
