Chapter 217

“That was some good meal,” Elijah said as they relaxed in the living room.

“Engineer by day, chef by night, sidekick to a god every other time. Sounds like a perfect life.”

“Sidekick?” Elijah snickered. “You're not my sidekick. We're friends. Brothers, if you may.”

“Aw,” he touched his chest dramatically. “That's the sweetest thing you've ever said to me.”

Elijah smiled as he shook his head. “We've dined, and everyone else is resting. What next?”

“Time for the truth, I guess.”

“Yeah, let's do it.”

They rose to their feet and walked to Elijah's room.

“We could use my laptop,” he said as they entered.

Tobias sat as Elijah went over to the drawer to pick up the flash Tobias had handed over to him.

He carried it to the bed, dragging his laptop from the bedside table.

“Moment of truth,” he said as he inserted the flash.

They moved back, waiting for it to play. Error lines suddenly began to spread around the screen.

“What's that?” Elijah turned to Tobias.

“I think the flash is encrypted.”
